La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant! From start to finish everything was impeccable.
We got there just in time for our reservation and we were seated right away at a great table where we could see basically the entire restaurant. We were greeted and offered drinks right away as well as bread.
Our server came over, he was fantastic, an older gentlemen with long hair and a very distinct mustache. His wife is Sicilian and German. He was wonderful! He gave us some fantastic suggestions.
We started with the Burrata which was to absolutely die for with the black truffle on top. Our next course we had the shaved artichoke salad. Our server told us you can't find something like it in the US so I had to try it and we were blown away. My boyfriend had the veal and his mashed potatoes were the best mashed potatoes I'd ever tried. The Sacchettti was probably the best thing I've ever tried. ALL THE TRUFFLE WAS AMAZING! The martini was the honest to God best martini I've ever had. I couldn't believe how easy it was going down. The Limencello was fantastic and the tiramasu was light and the perfect way to end the meal.
Thank you so much to this restaurant. It was my boyfriend and I's one year anniversary and it was one for the books thanks to you! We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful time celebrating my mothers birthday! It was fabulous. She hasn’t stopped talking about it since!
The evening was wonderful. The food and drink were wonderful and the staff was excellent. We could not have asked for anything more.
Classy and delicious. 3 hour unhurried meal to celebrate a birthday. From pre-dinner drinks to apps to meal and dessert, the service and food were first rate. One of Atlanta’s top restaurants for decades. Still strong. Risotto is other-worldly. Tortellini was fantastic as was the steak. Ricotta cheesecake was a bit dry, but that’s quibbling.
Great food and history but it’s very dated and stuffy. It felt like an exclusive spot for the “cool kids”.
I really like the location, it’s a cave after all. The inside was beautiful but I was sat outside and the mosquitoes were huge. It was hot and humid so that was so uncomfortable and I asked to be moved inside. The food was not the best I’ve ever had but not the worst. There is also complementary valet ONLY.
This is the best Italian we've had in the city! Dinner was incredible and the staff was so nice and attentive. We will definitely be coming back!
Wonderful. Could not have been better!
It was fantastic our server was excellent my
Wife and I truly enjoyed ourselves
AMAZING ATMOSPHERE!! The staff was amazing, and they know exactly what to offer for your experience to be even grander! I never would've expected the restaurant to be located where it is, but it was amazing! Would definitely go again!
We drove in from out of town just to go here for my wife’s birthday.
Magnificent from start to finish.
Classic Italian cuisine, superbly prepared in appropriate portions
Exceptional wine list
The service is great and on point
Truffle service was very disappointing. There was a dullness to them that I haven’t experienced at other restaurants. Not impressed.
Love this place. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch.
LOVED this place! Will definitely be back very soon!
Always great food, service, and ambience. The inauspicious entrance in an apartment building only serves to highlight the delight this place brings. An Atlanta classic that continues to deliver!
La Grotta is a great place for all occasions. Food and service were both fantastic!
I brought my man here for his 45th birthday and we were both simply blow away by this place! The food was impeccable, the service was amazing and it felt like we were in Italy. I can't wait to go backkk
Always special New York style Italian
As always, La Grotta exceeded our expectations!
Great atmosphere! Unique compared to other alternatives in Atlanta. Nostalgic feel with probably the best Italian food around.
Corkage fee is a bit high, but we had a good time with good food and excellent service.
Amazing as always !
Loved everything about our dinner. Is on the pricey side but worth it now and then.
Our favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta. Always an excellent dining experience.
Juliano is the greatest server.
We ate here during a 5 hour layover in route home from a vacation to NYC, and it was the best meal of the entire trip! Risotto with truffles was amazing, and my son loved his pasta so much, that he ate a second helping. The wait staff was extremely accommodating. The server could tell that my son was cold, so he wrapped a blanket over his shoulder and called him sire for the rest of the meal! :-) Great experience, we can't wait to go back!!
Great food and service- overtime we visit we have an incredible experience!
Best Italian in Atlanta. Every dish was amazing! The wine list was exceptional.
Amazing dinner with exceptional service. MY wife and I enjoyed each course and the wine was perfect.
Excellent! Our server was so nice! The food was delicious. Beautifully decorated restaurant!
It was amazing. Literally. So good! Treat yourself and spend more money, it’s worth it.
Best Italian, service and quality!
A must visit whenever you visit the great city of Atlanta!
It was a great dining experience from the time we walked in the door and was greeted by a very nice lady who escorted us to our table to the time we exited. Outstanding!
Always challenging to hear others. The food is amazing!
Christian was such a welcoming host! Abs our waiter was awesome and the bread guy so sweet :-) we loved sitting outside and the lighting and fans were perfect for a summer evening. We returned after 30 years and with a more refined palette - we found la grottos to be world class! This is going to become our regular place!
Ambiance and service were superb! Carpaccio appetizer is wonderful. Cesar salads were above average. Veal picatta entre and gnochi entre about a 7 out of 10. Next time would probably go with a special or a different pasta dish. Tira Misu for dessert was exceptional, maybe the best we've ever had, as well as a perfect cappaccino to end the evening. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
The chopped Veal Parmesan is amazing! We sat outside in their garden area and it was very nice!
