Fabulous!!!!!! Absolutely love La Grenouille. The food, the service, the atmosphere are always perfection. Cannot wait to go back!
Everything was amazing except for a large table that had 2 screaming children (and equally loud adults). It isn’t the restaurant’s fault, but it’s not fun to spend that amount of money and have to deal with screaming children.
Old school style
Just average food and overpriced
Exquisite! The restaurant is beautiful. The flower arrangements throughout the restaurant are spectacular. The staff is is very attentive and cannot do more to make the dining experience better. The food selection, presentation and preparation are second to none. It is pricey, but well worth the trip for a special occasion.
We came as a prelude to a show on Broadway, I was in a suit my Fiance in a gown. We were seated to a crammed table with a lamp in the center where the cord was blocking the booth and was a trip hazard to say the least. The waiter/maitre d seats us and hands us two menus, no drink menu and immideately asks us for drink orders. Following, I take my jacket off as it was warm in the restaurant and am told I need to put it back on because "well you know the media". Not sure what that means but it was 5:30 and it was empty in there, I guess I wasn't dressed enough the part. When it comes to the menu, there is a prixe fixe of $175 per person with no clear structure to what is an appetizer dessert and entree. When ordering off of the theatre menu again no break to what is what and the waiter asks us what we want for dessert all on the first go. Very upsetting. It wouldn't have been as frustrating if the service was good, instead they treat you very rudely, rush you, and offer little advice on anything. A neighboring couple described the meal as a "different experience" when considering if their daughter would like it, their feelings seemed to be mutual. The food was average, my lamb was overcooked and of course they are French so the servings are comical. Stay away from this place when it comes to fine dining as they do a poor job.
Always fabulous—no exception here!
as exquisite as it ever was, and delicious with the very best service!
Excellent French cuisine. A lively setting populated with loyal regulars. Tourists seem to be the minority.
Close tables and a friendly waitstaff set the tone for a flower filled room.
If your not in a rush and looking for a genuine French setting, this is the place.
Felt rushed. Service a bit severe. Don’t mind spending money but just a little too expensive. Felt love he they want to get you out.
The flowers were beautiful. The lighting was romantic without being too dim. The food and service were excellent. Get the Caramel souffle!
Wonderful ambiance, awesome food, great service. Special for dinner and a relative steal for lunch.
Expensive but worth it.
Unbelievably wonderful food and service during 2nd visit to this restaurant. Prix fixe lunch was an excellent value, with a starter, main course and dessert. Captain and wait staff make the meal a pleasure. I would highly recommend. Not for the faint of heart financially, but worthwhile and memorable. Try it at least once!
Always a standout dining experience. Old school excellence in the best ways.
One of the finest, most complete dining experiences I ever had. If you are contemplating having a meal here, my suggestion is you do.
Impeccable.. Classic.. timeless
The best. Always.
Dinner was over our expectations and the service is fabulous
Roast chicken reaches perfection, elegant ambiance, excellent service, expensive but that is the price of excellence
I was hearlfully welcomed and taken to our table. I was 15 minutes earlier than my reserved time. My friend came on time.
Each table Was exquisitely decorated with a vase of different color of roses. Our attendant was friendly and efficient. Foods were excellent.
Splendid as always, La Grenouille has some of the best, if not the best, classic French cuisine in New York City. The upstairs room is as charming, and less formal, than the downstairs one. The menu has changed, removing some of my favorite dishes (rognon, for one), but the substitutions are equally marvelous. Service was excellent, except that our waiter made a point of pushing recommendations on the dishes with surcharges above the already skyhigh prix fixe.
Great dinner great service but bring your wallet. Worth every penny
Lovely restaurant. Attentive staff. Comfortable. Really good food. Nice wine list
The service was impeccable and outstanding. The food was extremely tasty and presented in a wonderful manner. The pre-dinner theater menu was wonderful.
Beautiful space & the service and food were outstanding!! Definitely one of my top dining experiences!
My party of three thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meals. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was superb. The gorgeous flower arrangements throughout the restaurant and for which it is known were spectacular. The luncheon fixed price of $65.00 was a great value for our delightful dining experience.
Great old-style French cuisine. Where else can you get a quenelle de brochet?
Everything is special but approachable here. Settle in relax and expect to want to try it all.
5 plus stars for food, service, decor. A one-of-a-kind--and what a wonderful kind it is! Highest recommendation.
Outstanding bouquets to watch over you while eating typical and fine french food and I am french: something out of time and peaceful in the city.
A good and expensive diner but absolutely worth it.
The staff is wonderful.
We will be back...
My favorite restaurant in the WORLD!!
A rare gem. Perfect in every way.
Beautiful experience in every way. A return to classic dining. Unforgettable flowers, food, service and cocktails. We will return.
Impeccable service and food. It is expensive so it is , at least for me, a restaurant for a special night out
Our first visit to this elegant traditional French restaurant. We loved the assortment of hors d'oeuvre & french soup as appetizer. The bouillabaise and filet medallions were both excellent. The chocolate souffle and apple tart were both also delicious.
It was our anniversary! We’ve eaten there before and it is by far my favorite restaurant in NYC!!! Service impeccable and food is superior!
Conocemos restaurantes franceses buenos y de diferentes precios pero este es el mejor Por algo siempre esta lleno desde hace tantos años que abrió y su clientela es de lo más distinguido. La comida inmejorable
A true gem! Although I am not a regular, the two of us, both women, were treated wonderfully. The service was superb; food and ambiance outstanding. I look forward to dining there again with my friends and family.
La Grenouille has always been one of our favorite restaurants - delicious food in a sumptuous atmosphere with superior service. This time, however, we were greatly disappointed. My wife's lobster medallions with ginger was just ok and my roasted chicken in champagne sauce with mushrooms was too dry and not very tasty at all. Very disappointing. The dessert soufflés were very good but still we expect more from a $500 (with wine) dinner.
La Grenouille is still a classic, which is reassuring in this age of change and trendiness. From the moment one arrives, the ambiance is one of gracious refinement. It helps that many of the staff have been there for years, so they know how to treat diners well. The menu selection is extensive, so there is something for every taste. There are nice special touches such as a variety of bread offerings and plates of mignardises (cookies and treats) and chocolates served with coffee. I had requested a quiet table because I had a serious matter to discuss, and the maitre d' kindly accommodated me. It was the first time my guest had dined at La Grenouille, and he was impressed by everything -- especially the flowers. I used to live in Paris and return there often, so for me a meal at La Grenouille feels like being in the City of Light.
