A garden of visual and epicurean marvels, La Grenouille serves Lunch and Dinner, Tuesday through Saturday. A spectacular three tiered skylight room with grand fireplace is available for private parties. À la Carte menu for Lunch and Dinner is served at the new “Aviator” bar designed by Philippe Masson. A bar dedicated to St. Exupery who, during the 1940’s, wrote part of the Little Prince upstairs in the Skylight room of La Grenouille.
What an experience to eat here. The food, the service and the ambience here are off the charts good. A bit pricy but worth for it for a great treat.
We have celebrated our anniversary there for most of the 62 years we’ve been we’ve never been disappointed.
Tremendous overall value. Iconic service & menu. These special restaurants are disappearing in the US. Enjoy before they all disappear.
Wonderful place. The food was terrific with old school favorites you don’t see much anywhere and can’t make at home. Gracious service and beautiful decor, including the signature flowers. Perfect for a romantic lunch or dinner.
Figured I had to try this once. Upon arrival we were kidnapped from the door and rushed to a table by the bar. The back of the room was EMPTY and we asked to be seated there. After a Gallic Hurumph!!! we were then led to a table IN THE MIDDLE of the room despite MULTIPLE side and corner tables being empty. We politely requested a side table and were treated as if we asked for a bill from France for saving them from the Germans in WWII. I realize we are not regulars and under 90 years old but that was ridiculous. Food was just OK, not great. My green beans were cooked to the consistency of baby food. Sole was fishy tasting. Mustard Hollandaise sauce was brought out 10 minutes before fish so it was COLD!!!! Our waiter could not have been more unhappy and disinterested in us. I know he can be nicer because he was totally engaged with the next table who were obviously regulars. $25 bottle of wine marked up to $105. I am sticking with Le Bernadin from now on. Moral of the story: You DO NOT have to try this once.
Excellent and welcoming customer service. Delicious appetisers and entrées. Beautiful and lovely decor. Would highly recommend and visit again.
Magical and delicious. Everything is extraordinary. The flowers, food, service are the top.
We’re in our 80’s and since our college years, it’s been our favorite restaurant to celebrate when we come to NYC!
Food was amazing and the service was impeccable probably the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever been in. I place this restaurant as my top 3 restaurants I have been to in NYC.
We hadn’t been to La Grenouille in many years and wanted to try again based on its continued great reputation and truly outstanding French gourmet menu. On the plus side, outstanding service and as always, this beautiful and elegant restaurant is further enhanced by magnificent floral arrangements. On the minus side, however, side by side banquettes are just too tight to sit comfortably, and between my wife and myself, we had 4 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. With the exception of a fabulous roast chicken worthy of 3 Michelin stars and arguably the best I’ve ever had, everything else was only in the “good” category———- thus our overall disappointment in the dining experience.
Appreciate the impeccable service.
Honored a request for a specific table.
Meant much- was our anniversary
Perfect for brunch, beautiful setting, delicious food, reasonable price and excellent service. And the coffee was excellent. Highly recommend!
One of the very best!!!
Beautiful setting, the smell of the flowers is wonderfully intoxicating. The food was amazing! Every dish was superb. Very impressed.
Spectacularly well prepared and delicious food in an old school French restaurant style.
One of our favorite NYC restaurants. However it has become more and more pricey over the years. As an example, we ordered 2 sides of white asparagus in addition to our price fixed dinner. When we received the bill we discovered that they were priced at $55.00 each. Really, $110.00 for 2 sides of white asparagus! And of course, then they expect a 20% tip on top of that. We're not sure when we'll be back.
Annual birthday dinner and was not disappointed. Tried & true and will continue to come back.
Extraordinarily food and ambience recommend for anyone wanting a memorable evening. Perfect food drink and service
Gorgeous, romantic restaurant, famous for it’s dramatic fresh flower arrangements. Welcoming, friendly wait staff &, of course, first class French cuisine.
I took my wife here for her birthday. This is one of the few elegant French restaurants left in New York. The service is excellent. The food and wine is as fine as anywhere in the US.
On holiday from Australia and we always have pick out a special restaurant and this was it!!! An amazing night, incredible food and service and food to die for!! Do not pass on the soufflé...superb...
Service and food was incredible. Drinks strong. We had the pre theater menu and it was amazing. Highly recommend if you like French food, French ambiance.
a regular visitor but concerned level has dropped since visit last year but will give a further try but hope this visit is not indicative of the start of an ongoing drop in service in this fine restaurant
Although quite friendly, the overall service was uneven. The food was very good in spots but disappointing in others. The decor is outstanding and reflects a high level of attention to that.
I have been to this iconic French restaurant twice. A few years ago, I had a memorable meal with a close friend. (We both still talk about our experience.)
However, that special experience was not recreated yesterday for a special birthday lunch. But it's not the fault of La Grenouille.
We went at 2pm. The place was dead. There was light streaming in from the street that altered the ambiance from the usual elegant evening glow.
No complaints about service. Food was excellent.
Moral of the story? Go for dinner.
Heard about their chocolate soufflé (wife’s favorite dessert) so had to try it. She agreed that it was. Food however is typical French - small portions at huge prices. Our lunch there was more expensive than our dinners elsewhere AND we left hungry. Also, men have to wear a jacket - although I saw a guy with a fall weather Eddie Bauer-type jacket so I guess that sufficed.
We came to visit from CA and came across this restaurant under Romantic Restaurants. It is pricey but is worth it. We left happy and very impressed. The service is outstanding .
The ambiance is magical, service is world class, wine list is well balanced and the food was prepared and presented masterfully. My only complaint would be how large the portions are on the Prix Fix menu which left us feeling a bit guilty after each course.
Superb!! Always très magnifique!
The service was spectacular and not rushed. Good superb. We went for the pre-theatre hours and stayed for over 2 hours and no one was running us off the table while we finished desert and port. Portions were perfect - nothing huge, but plenty to fill us up. Wine list is amazing!
Excellent food, service and value for lunch!
It's fantastic and one of my favorite place. I would highly recommend any business meetings or even a first date for that matter! The natural flower smile beautiful and little lamps on the table are very cute. Staff is super cordial.
old guard elegance. Great for a special occasion. You will also feel very special in this wonderful place. Pricey especially with fine wine, which comes naturally with this type of cuisine. Don't miss it for the next big celebration.
Elegant. Delicious. Luxurious.
What more could you want? Not trendy. Just charming.
Simply the best restaurant in NYC. Great value at lunch with an excellent wine list that is affordable if you know what to ask for.
Nice quiet environment to have relaxing time with good friends.
Excellent staff who were both friendly, helpful and humorous.
Definitely would dine at this place again on my next visit to NY.
This is a true experience. Very attentive and friendly staff. Food was impeccably presented and flavor was superb
Fabulous everything was just delicious
I think the best classic french restaurant in New York. No molecular gastronome here! Honest haute cuisine. They welcome you like a life long friend. They are formal but in the best way possible. One can not help but feel regal here. The frog legs are the best in the world. The soufflé is like being in heaven. All this does not come cheap. It is as reasonable if not a little bit less expensive than the other similar restaurants. The room is made for proposals and to celebrate mergers/acquisitions. Take your kids when they graduate college/law school etc Celebrate your 25th and 50th wedding annversary here . I first started taking my kid here when he was 10 he is old enough to order at the bar now. They do a really good job with sophisticated kids. It is an experience worth putting on a jacket for.
I used to go there in the mid-1970s, when it was open but ten or twelve years. On a recent visit to Manhattan, it seemed time to try it again. It remains superb, only now its patina is even richer at 57 years. Fine service; fine food; excellent location on E. 52nd just east of Fifth Avenue.
