La Grenouille Ratings and Reviews
The staff at La Grenouille was the most professional I have ever witnessed. The food was impeccable and the service for our pre-theater dinner was out of this world. The table setting, the flowers, basically the ambiance of the restaurant contributes to a very special evening.
Enjoyed a splendid anniversary dinner at La Grenouille. We were promptly seated amidst the charming dining room and famed flowers.
Our waiter and servers were attentive, gracious, and kind. We ordered from the prix-fixe theatre menu and had a delightful three course meal with wine pairings. The desserts were sumptuous; my wife particularly enjoyed La Tourte Chaude au Chocolat.
everything was perfect, BUT I HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE BECAUSE AT THE TABLE NEXT TO ME THE SEATED A FAMILY WITH A NEWBORN BABY THAT WAS CRYING. I WAS 10 PM. I THINK THIS KIND OF RESTAURANTS SHOULD'NT ALLOW KIDS YOUNGER THAN 8 TO ENTER THE RESTAURANT AT NIGHT
Has a classy uptown feel with abundant fresh flower arrangements amid art and accoutrements with an antique feel. You might be in the dining room in an upscale Paris townhouse. Menu is French classic and well-prepared but sadly boring Service was impeccable and friendly. Fellow diners appeared to be Manhattan hoi poloi. We enjoyed ourselves, but the cuisine was not worth the very steep
I really expected more from this pricy high end NY restaurant. The food could have been a lot fresher. Coming from the Napa Valley in California makes it hard to compare since the food is so good there. I would not expect much more than a wonderful atmosphere when attending this restaurant.
La Grenouille is consistently excellent. From the moment you sit down till the moment you walk out the door, it is an unparalled experience. This is truly our favorite restaurant for so many reasons, but you MUST experience it yourself to understand how special it is.
What a joy it is to dine at La Grenouille! The gracious greeting as you arrive sets the tone for a perfectly enchanting experience. Delicious -- and beautiful -- food is served in an impeccable manner by a very professional staff. This is truly one of our favorite restaurants in NYC -- and in the world.
One of the GREAT New York experiences-- to be savored on every level. Elegant, discrete, glamorous, the way I always remembered it.
A thrill to return after many years to find ONE place in New York that has kept its standards-- Visually stunning, the world-famous flowers
were handsomely on display, a feast in themselves. Our captain gave us a special table as we were celebrating the retirement of one of the city's top executives. We were treated like royalty, my french tolerated, and our soufflés were memorable.
Thank You, La Grenouille for living up to your excellence-- A special word to our waiter who was kindness itself.
As all the reviews said, extremely French in a good way. Food was excellent but the service was a bit overbearing. Was forced into a 5:45 p.m. Time although I called several months in advance. Restaurant was virtually empty so there was nothing for a large staff to do. Food was wonderful in presentation and taste. Very large very French wine list with a variety of prices.
Wow! This is now one of my favorites! It has the ambiance of Chanterelle, the service of the Carlyle, and the food of any of the top restaurants in New York or Paris! I thought at first that it might be too stuffy for me, but I can truly say that I totally enjoyed the experience. I can understand why other reviews were hesitant to say how great this place is for fear that it may get to be too popular! It is truly a hidden gem that I have now discovered and will frequent as often as possible. Its expensive, but worth it!
This restaurant is as advertised. It is fine dining in a very traditional style. It reminded me of Le Pavillion and Perigord Parc (both long gone). Nothing innovative but solid. The service was overly attentive and a bit stiff. The ambiance was superb and it was interesting that in a totally filled restaurant there was not a single man without a tie. They do rate an "A" for effort but there are superior restaurants in Manhattan that are much more exciting and innovative. Dinner for two with one glass of wine was with tip a bit over $320.
French food doesn't get any more authentic. The quenelle of pike is a signature dish. If you can eat upstairs grab it, a slice of a heavenly library. The flowers alone make this an event place, and the wait staff is ultra professional. I can't wait to go again, choosing lunch or early dinner to make this spot affordable.
