La Grenouille Ratings and Reviews
I loved just about everything about the experience. Food-amazing, service-attentive, atmosphere-lovely, price-understandable. On par with elegant French restaurants in France. This place should/could have a Michelin star but needs the edge to get there. Each individual piece of the experience was great so the bundle needs to improve to reach the next level. Highly recommend it and will visit again.
Phenomenal experience yet again. La Grenouille is one of the most beautifully decorated restaurants we have ever been to. Floral arrangements are incredible and fragrant from the moment you enter. Service is on point, efficient but not pushy. Make sure to take care of the captain! Taittinger is house champagne which we loved.
I appreciated that while the meal moved along quickly they did not rush us after dessert to clear the table. We were able to enjoy our after dinner drinks in peace... this was very nice.
Steak Tartare was fresh and delicious, artichoke carpaccio also very light and elegant. Braised oxtail with parsnip puree and dover sole both classic and very nicely done. My personal favorite was the Caramel Soufflé for dessert, amazing flavor and texture... I will dream about it until next time. A bit expensive for everything, but considering the décor, flowers, service and overall experience it is worth it. We will be back again. Thanks La Grenouille!
My wife and I try to eat here each year around Christmas. She always loves the flowers and the other décor of the restaurant. The food is very good but the competition in NYC is great, and I'm afraid there is better elsewhere. The service is great and it's always great to see the familiar friendly faces. The fixed priced dinner seems overpriced. Tipping is confusing as I'm really not sure who the captain and waiter were during our meal. $600 is a lot of money for two people to have dinner. Finally, I was also confused by the reservation availability. They only had early slots on opentable, but the restaurant was only partially full and we were there well past 8pm. We love the tradition but we'll likely be back for lunch as that is the better value.
My favorite restaurant in NYC. Was disappointed that the large flower displays were not fresh as this adds so much to the atmosphere. Table was tough this time because the waiters kept bumping me getting to the table in the corner. Will always go back but not the experience I’ve come to expect from this fine place.
Beautiful restaurant with all real flowers. The moment you walk in, the aroma of roses and flowers charm you instantly. The food is good, not at a Michelin level, but good enough for a special occasion, like an anniversary. Ironically or not, their best dish is the dessert - souffle, the best in NYC. The texture and taste are unmatched, as I have sampled quite many French restaurants. Overall, the ambiance and flowers are what bring me back here every year for our anniversary. Must-see place for romance!!!
This is by far one of our favorite restaurants in New York !
Incredibly romantic room, exquisite French dining with impeccable service.
The soufflé is the peace de resistance , Grand mariner is amazing .
We love this place andtry to come at least once a year !
Given the name of this restaurant, it was somewhat frustrating that frog legs were not an option on the pre-theater menu. We did not want to order the prix fixe menu as it is simply too much food for us to enjoy. After some discussion with the captain, we were finally able to order the frog legs a la carte. The tiny frog legs presented at La Grenouille are the best we have had anywhere in the world.
The service was amazingly personal. It was obvious that they really wanted us to have a good time and enjoy the wonderful food and ambience. Great for people watching. Tables are very close together and we enjoyed getting to know the couples on both sides. But, don't need to engage with others unless you want to.
The sole was cooked perfectly. This place has beautiful ambience and flower arrangements. It is a little pricey but the soufflé was the best part. Loved it! Nice French experience, I would not come here unless it’s a special occasion due to the price. Dinner for three was over $600.
I believe this restaurant is way overpriced. I came here for dinner with my granddaughters, we were six, and we were told we had to take a fixed menu which is 176 $, they don't serve a la carte. . If you add a price of three dishes included to the fixed menu, it'l never come to 176 $. However, the service is nice, the flowers are the best in the city, the souffle is gorgeous.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed with this experience .
We do not plan to return.
I was really disappointed in this restaurant. I fully understood it was not a cheap date, but expected to get a higher level of service. The waiter was very unhelpful in deciding on the evenings choices, almost like we were putting him out with every question we had..
Have been here many times before and once again everything was spectacular. It is wonderful to enjoy a perfectly prepared meal served by staff who is trained to know every minute detail about every item on their menu and perfect wines to pair with them. The Dover sole with mustard sauce is exquisite. Two of guests had the specials for the evening and couldn't stop raving about them. The ambiance is old fashioned elegance with magnificent flowers.
