Established in 1962, glamorous and timeless La Grenouille offers classic French cuisine in an elegant and intimate setting. Owner Philippe Masson continues the family legacy by creating breathtaking flower arrangements and culinary delights with Chef Jean Christophe Guiony.
A garden of visual and epicurean marvels, La Grenouille serves Dinner, Tuesday through Saturday. A spectacular three tiered skylight room with grand fireplace is available for private parties. All menus have been designed by Philippe Masson. Our bar and upstairs fireplace room are dedicated to St. Exupery who, during the 1940’s, wrote part of the Little Prince upstairs in the Skylight room of La Grenouille.

I made the reservation and received a confirmation. The day before the reservation I received another confirmation. I arrived at the restaurant and it was CLOSED. So there I was with my companion in the cold and no where to dine. Very bad. I can't recommend food, ambience or service since I never had access to the restaurant.

La Grenouille is a New York icon and offers the full luxury dining experience. The service is impeccable - you will know exactly why they won the James Beard Award. The lush interior and impromptu musical performances transport you to another world, especially in these strange times. And it's ripe for people-watching if that's your thing. I recommend the soufflés, the dover sole, and the whitefish quenelles, but it's hard to see how you could go wrong at this place. Every bite encapsulates the exquisite subtlety of French cuisine. The Crémant d'Alsace rosé is also lovely.
The food and service was excellent as ever. Felt very safe eating outside but the decor was, as expected, not a nice as it is inside. Street noise was surprisingly not bad considering we ate early at 5pm.
The outdoor decor was awesome. The music and lights added the special feeling that meant you did not notice NYC street. The food was delicious and service perfect.
We celebrated our 33rd Anniversary here for a Friday lunch. We enjoyed butternut soup, split pea soup, cheese soufflé, and lemon soufflé and passion fruit soufflé. All were swoon-worthy! Our reservations were for outside dining (they did have heat lamps). But since it was a cold and wet day and there were several available tables inside, they offered us an inside table. We did dress accordingly (sportcoats for men), just in case we ended up inside.
Everything is always handled elegantly.
The addition of live music gives me a flashback to "Rainbow & Stars" nite club.
It is everything you would expect a top tier French restaurant in NYC to be. The staff and food is exceptional .
The food was extraordinary, and the new live music they have was a great surprise. The service is wonderful as always, I'm so glad this wonderful restaurant, my personal favourite in NYC, is still thriving, hopefully for many, many years to come.

La Grenouille managed to recreate its buoyant atmosphere outside on the streets of New York and offered one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had amid the Covid-19 restrictions. It was a delightful surprise to be entertained by proprietor Philippe Masson, who assembled a trio of recent Juilliard graduates to accompany him as he sang jazzy tunes in English and French.
I had always wanted to try the quenelles and they did not disappoint. Light and moist. Dover sole was excellent too, especially the mustard sauce. The jazz combo and maitre d' singing French chansons were a nice surprise and made us forget the current world situation and reminded us of our love for New York City...at least for the evening.
Some of my lower ratings, like ambience, were due to required outdoor seating.
The service was excellent! The food was very delicious and divine. Sitting outside due to COVID-19 will make any patio location a bit noisy no fault of theirs. The wine I was served La Sirène de Giscours Margaux is one my fav so I’m happy they have it! Thank you for the smiles, the service and great food!

What a let down. We went to celebrate a special birthday and expecting an elegant dinner. Many of the entries we ordered we actually not very good at all. I had the lobster ravioli and they were tasteless and quite small. My husband ordered the filet which was average or as he described, “like an airplane filet”. But the most shocking was that our 12 year old son ordered a lemonade and the waiter served him a “french lemonade” as he called it which had alcohol in it! This was no error. When my son took a sip and asked the waiter if contained alcohol the waiter said “just a little bit, it’s fine”. We thought he was joking until we took a sip. Who does that!?!?
Loved supporting this legend during this period. Order the cheese soufflé. Dreaming of the future with frogs legs and roses.

This is the best restaurant in the world. There used to be many great spots, now there is just La Grenouille. Go there.
One of the best meals I’ve had in my life! The food was absolutely exquisite from the smoked salmon, crab and caviar blini to the trio of seafood (which we had Dover Sole added to at extra cost) to the excellent soufflé at the end. This was definitely a splurge but we also had cocktails, a beautiful bottle of wine and dessert drinks so we didn’t expect it to be a cheap night out.
I’ve been to La Grenouille a couple of times before and it is consistently excellent!

Celebrating my sister’s retirement. Excellent meal with great wine selection. The chocolate soufflé for dessert was awesome! The Dover sole is a must for the main entree. Given the current conditions the staff did a wonderful job making the experience a night to remember.
We went for my birthday. Having been there before we knew how wonderful the food was. It was even better than we remembered. Without a doubt one of the finest restaurants in Manhattan

Grenouille is my all time favorite restaurant where my husband and I have spent many anniversaries and birthdays. It has beautiful ambience, lighting and floral arrangements, and it’s staff and of course dining experience is beyond compare.

The Dover Sole is beyond imagination. The room is beautiful. The service is impeccable.
This Grande Dame of restaurants is still going strong. Lunch is a good deal at $83 even if there is a supplement for frogs legs, their namesake dish. They also charge a supplement for Dover Sole but it is a large one and cooked to perfection.
The highlight of the meal was a captain's recommendation of a Pistachio Souffle. He said it was his favorite but they also had another 10 or so to choose from. You can see why they have been around for 59 years.
This was a special lunch for my birthday. We both had three courses. Husband had French onion soup followed by Dover Sole and a hazelnut souffle. Everything he had was reportedly wonderful. I had the pate duo, the fish with boulliabase sauce followed by a caramel souffle. My pate serving was quite small, although it is rich. The fish---scallop, shrimp, salmon and sea bass was good but the shrimp was a bit overcooked as was the salmon. The scallop was perfect. I wish I knew their secret to their wonderful souffles!
Ambiance was wonderful with soaring arrangements of forced spring flowering branches and abundant fresh flowers on every table along with table lamps with flattering light. Service is friendly but not overly familiar---just gracious. We can't wait to go again!
