Where do I begin!?
Walking into La Fourno I was greeted by Francis, who was also our waiter and ready for all 16 people I invited for a birthday dinner! I was very impressed when we were walked up to a beautiful room upstairs that accommodated us spaciously!
I also got to meet Al, the owner, who was sincere and friendly and only wanted us to have a good time and a delicious meal. We ordered our food and while waiting got some yummy bread and a plate with cucumbers/carrots/mango and a balsamic dressing. It was so sweet of them to give us that.
Then the food came! Everyone seemed happy with their meals, I thought mine was delicious! It seemed like everyone at the table got something different, but no one complained!!
The prices were extremely reasonable!
Then I received the warmed happy birthday! It was so nice and made me feel so loved! Al even gave my a fancy restaurant pen! It has a flashlight/stylus and is a beautiful pen overall! I am SO appreciative of this restaurant and WILL be returning. I highly recommend it for large and small groups.
Thank you La Fourno!!
This has become my bday spot. Super casual, reasonable prices, delicious food. I changed the number in my party three timed and each time I called they were very flexible. They sat my party of 13 upstairs in their back room. We had absolute privacy and could be as loud as we wanted. I loved their food. I’d highly recommend this restaurant.
Quiet small restaurant that's great for an intimate meal.
My wife and another couple had lunch. The food was excellent, chicken parmagiana and veal parmigiana. We also had the tiger shrimp appetizer. Also excellent. The service was superb.
Stopped for the second time and was just as pleased. Wonderful meals, staff who aim to please. Thank you!
Really great find. We made a reservation last minute for a party of 16 and they were able to accommodate us! We had a great table upstairs in front of the fire and the service was incredible, despite the fact that we were such a large group. Good food, really nice servers
Francis is a fabulous host! He and the servers treat you like family.
A lovely meal in a friendly atmosphere. Our server, Francis, was charming and very attentive. Their Veal Parm has been rated the Best in Philadelphia, and certainly deserves the title. We will be coming back often. Certainly one of the best restaurants that South Street has to offer!
One of the things not mentioned is the great music here ! It is the little - heard music of The Great American Songbook. It can be heard outside on South Street and of course inside as well .
Great place to eat! Friendly staff and great food! I love this place!
Our neighborhood favorite! The ambiance and service are second to none . Highly recommend La Fourno to everyone .
Fabulous food and service as always. The perfect choice for a New Year's Eve dinner with friends!
We had a large group and they were very accommodating and treated us like gold. The bread, pizza and appetizers were all amazing. I recommend sticking with these items and the pastas-our group was less impressed with some of the other meat entrees, but everything was still quite good. They seated us to ourselves in the upstairs room and it was super cozy with a fireplace and a nice bar. Definitely a great place to go if you have a large group of people. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed it. Tiramisu is top notch! The polenta appetizer was also amazing and something you don't see every day. The entrees were pretty big, so consider sharing if you are also getting appetizers and salads.
Always great food and service!
Always have an excellent meal at this restaurant. Service is great, food very good, highly recommend it.
I took a girl here for a date and was immediately welcomed by who I believe was the owner. The service was fanatastic, the food delicious, and the portions generous. I think i found my go-to place when I'm downtown.
The food was very good. We had a party of 6. The 3 appetizers and 4 entrees were all great.
Nicely prepared dishes served in a very casual setting.
It was delicious as usual. We finally had all of our adult children & wives together for dinner!
The Service was great, they found the best table in the place for us. The wine list was limited and we chose a light red that was OK, my friends salad looked great and my prosciutto & melon was good, but not great. However both our main courses were poor, my friends shrimp were tasteless unless you count the garlic, and my chicken with ham and cheese was again somewhat tasteless, and possibly a bit over cooked (although that may be the style) We left half of our meals and skipped dessert.
Wonderful service from the minute we stepped in. Charming ambiance and delicious food. We'll be back.
Good, go-to location for an authentic Italian dinner ... easily accessible on South Street.
This review may be a bit unfair; I was not pleased with the food and was surprised by the recommendations seen on OpenTable.
The restaurant offered a wide range of pizza and pasta and some mains. The starters were good. We ordered the special, a shrimp risotto, that truly disappointed. Although the wine list was limited, it was good.
Service was genuine, friendly and consistent.
Go there for the pizza and maybe the pasta and for a fun neighborhood night.
Best Authentic Italian Restuarant in South Philly. Service is always on point.
A nice little Italian spot off the tourist grid. Huge portions and a great value. The staff makes the restaurant experience, could not have been nicer and goes hand in hand with the comfort food served. There r a lot of choices in Philly but this little Italian spot was worth the walk.
Unbelievable, tasty, elegant, personal, just awesome food. I've been twice now, and will be back soon.
Food and service were excellent as always - quirky but always fun - BYOB for wine on Wednesday makes a good deal even better
This is my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is always great, the service is the best, and the price is perfect.
Wonderful, as always. We've been coming for about three years and have never been disappointed.
surprisingly very good food, excellent menu, lots of choices, excellent thin crust pizza, shrimp appetizer was amazing, risotto not so good
Fantastic dinner here on Saturday night with friends! Delicious food! Highly recommend!
Love this place, I have been going for years. The owner is almost always on site and so welcoming. We went there for my daughters Confirmation Dinner Party, service as always great as well as the food. My children have been going there since babies.
A lovely neighborhood spot. Great food, friendly attentive service. This is a gem!
We had 6 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler and the waitstaff was very nice! A man who I think was the manager, when we asked if they had plastic cups, offered to go next door and get a paper cup with a lid for my 2.5 yr old to drink out of. We brought wine but they only do BYO on Wednesdays and Fridays...however for those that wanted a drink, they had a great list to choose from. we sat upstairs in a large room that we had mostly to ourselves-except for one couple (sorry for the noise)! Overall, I think everyone enjoyed their dishes and family time!
Pizza, Panini, and Pasta mostly. reasonable beer & wine choices. Good service and very friendly.
Outstanding service, fabulous food. Casual atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.
This was an excellent restaurant on South Street. The food is great and the service is unbelievable. We had as friendly a waiter as I've ever had. Highly recommended.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The service is excellent and the food is beyond amazing. The veal parm is the best!
The owners and staff were very friendly and fun people. We had an enjoyable experience but the food is just OK. And the cocktails were not great.
