La Fourno Ristorante - Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
The Service was great, they found the best table in the place for us. The wine list was limited and we chose a light red that was OK, my friends salad looked great and my prosciutto & melon was good, but not great. However both our main courses were poor, my friends shrimp were tasteless unless you count the garlic, and my chicken with ham and cheese was again somewhat tasteless, and possibly a bit over cooked (although that may be the style) We left half of our meals and skipped dessert.
This review may be a bit unfair; I was not pleased with the food and was surprised by the recommendations seen on OpenTable.
The restaurant offered a wide range of pizza and pasta and some mains. The starters were good. We ordered the special, a shrimp risotto, that truly disappointed. Although the wine list was limited, it was good.
Service was genuine, friendly and consistent.
Go there for the pizza and maybe the pasta and for a fun neighborhood night.
A nice little Italian spot off the tourist grid. Huge portions and a great value. The staff makes the restaurant experience, could not have been nicer and goes hand in hand with the comfort food served. There r a lot of choices in Philly but this little Italian spot was worth the walk.
We had 6 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler and the waitstaff was very nice! A man who I think was the manager, when we asked if they had plastic cups, offered to go next door and get a paper cup with a lid for my 2.5 yr old to drink out of. We brought wine but they only do BYO on Wednesdays and Fridays...however for those that wanted a drink, they had a great list to choose from. we sat upstairs in a large room that we had mostly to ourselves-except for one couple (sorry for the noise)! Overall, I think everyone enjoyed their dishes and family time!
I had a surprise birthday party here for a friend. We had 14 people and the staff at the restaurant was great! They got in on the surprise and were really wonderful to us. We were seated upstairs and we were mostly alone except for two other couples (who probably couldn't hear each other talk because we were so loud - sorry!) Food was good, atmosphere good. Overall we enjoyed it a lot - and great that they are BYOW (Wine) on Wednesday and Friday.
Amazing dining experience! It's a small space on South Street, but you are greated warmly immediately upon walking in. You can byo wine on Friday which is a huge plus, but they have a full bar if needed. The salad was crisp and fresh and my chicken parm was delicious.
They give you plenty of time to enjoy your wine. This place blows away some other "famous" Italian places in both food and service. Check it out you won't be disappointed.
Great little place in South Philly! We really enjoyed our meal, which was the arugula salad, the house specialty bread, and the veal Parmesan. They didn't hold back on the flavors, but it was the amazing service that sets this place apart. It really was a wonderful and warm experience, and we plan to visit again.
Traveled to Philly to see the Eagles game. Husband loves Italian and I found La Fourno based on reviews. Surpassed our expectations. From the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by the owner to the song he chose specifically for me and all the way to the dance by Francis as he cooked our banana foster, they made us feel at home. The food was just as amazing and the people and the price! We will come here Everytime we are in Philly!
We were a party of 10, the service was excellent. I have been in this restaurant several times and the owner always makes it a point of making sure the customers needs are met. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!
The best veal parmigiana anywhere! An added bonus is that Friday night is byuob(wine Only!-) there is a wine and spirits dwn the street. Go here you will not be dissappointed
This was our second visit to La Fourno and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed personally by the owner, who checked on us throughout the evening to make sure everything was going well. The wait staff was friendly and helpful with their recommendations. Food was delicious and portions generous. We will definitely be back again!
