We love this neighborhood restaurant. Delicious!
This restaurant is fabulous! Great food and great service! I’ve been coming here for years! My favorites are Chicken Marsala and Vodka a la Penne. For dessert, the tiramisu is so worth the calories! I love this place!
Always great food and friendly service!
Wonderful! We booked this restaurant for a team dinner and it was outstanding. The service was great, the staff was was accommodating, and the food was absolutely delicious.
This is such a great restaurant.
The good & service is always fantastic. This is the best spot anywhere near South Street and very much worth the drive from NJ!
This place is adorable. We were very happy with our dinner selections and the portions were generous. The music helped set a warm friendly tone. Make sure to have dessert, the Nutella roll was wonderful. Overall an excellent experience.
This restaurant and trattoria was a great find in the mist of my sight seeing day. The hostess' attention and the service provided was by far professional with the touch of personal connection. My pre-birthday celebration was a special moment to have with my family in your establishment. Thank you so much and I hope to return in the future.
Food was very good as past visits. The service was respectable, but slightly slow as our meals were a little scattered
My favorite restaurant in the city!
I made a reservation for a group of 15 and looked forward to our meal here after reading all of the wonderful reviews. While our food was excellent, we were informed upon arriving that our group would not be able to order bottles of wine and that all wine orders had to be made by the glass. Because this is much more expensive than ordering by the bottle, we were extremely frustrated because nothing on the restaurant’s website or social media pages indicated that ordering full bottles would be a problem. As such, we all ended up spending much more money than we had originally planned to and the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I wonder if the restaurant would have reacted similarly had our group been smaller, but I will likely never find out as I probably won’t come here again after this experience.
I’ve long since moved away from Philly, but every time I’m back in town I have to eat at La Fourno. Hands down the best experience and food for my Italian heart. Let Francis take care of you and just enjoy. I always get the shrimp scampi and calamari app. The fresh bread is delicious and you can’t go wrong with a Maple leaf cocktail. It’s a wonderful intimate space tucked in on South St. I stumbled upon it while walking around the city in 2008, and it has been my favorite restaurant ever since.
They sat us upstairs where it was quieter but the service was super slow.
The service was so slow and weird. We sat down at 5:20 and didn’t get our food until almost 7. Also, the waiter discouraged us from getting pizza because they said it would “take to long” since they were closed on Christmas, then like 10 minutes later a table that came after got pizza and then we saw someone take out pizza. They were nice and looks like they were working hard but this place is very unorganized and inefficient. The food is really really good and this place has potential and it was loudly probably he better on a slower time. We also had small with us so the waiting was made even worse.
Food and service are always exceptional... everyone is treated like a V.I.P.
La Fourno has been my go-to birthday dinner restaurant for two years! They always take great care of me and my friends, and the waiters and manager are always SO friendly! The food is great, the ambiance is cozy, and it's overall just a great place to eat.
Got there later than our 7:45p reservation, but called 20 minutes before to let them know we were running behind. They held our table, but made me feel like it might not be there if it got too busy. Limited, but adequate wine selection. Mediocre service. Had the special (veal chop) - looked amazing, but lacked flavor. Other salmon special ordered by two others was apparently very good! Overall, decent experience....would give it 3.5 stars if I could.
Googled best Italian in Philly, this came up but I was severely disappointed. We ordered the chickpea bread because it seemed like their special thing, it was dry and gross.
The veal parmigiana was very good. The ambiance isn’t awesome but it’s ok. The service was very good but the shrimp scampi was dry & overcooked. I had booked a party of 10 for a work dinner and cancelled it - better options in Philly in my opinion.
The food was delicious as usual. My favorite mushroom appetizer was over the top delicious! The service is excellent and there is no sticker shock.
Parking is an issue but it’s South Street an TOTALLY worth it!
I was extremely pleased with our experience. When we arrived, the host was so over the top welcoming us that we were hoping he was going to be our server. We loved his energy. The service was great. The food was delicious.
We were there for a birthday and the host was amazing when it came time to wish and sing a happy birthday he got the entire place to sing Happy Birthday.
We loved it.
Great food! The gorgonzola gnocchi was amazing! The pizza was delicious as well!
Great restaurant with outstanding food. Our server was very personable and made our night fun! One tip, the BYOB Friday night does not include beer, wine and liquor (?) only.
I was not impressed by La Fourno. The food is ok, the service is ok, the price is extremely expensive for what you get. And they add 5% if you try to pay with credit card. Way too expensive for the quality of food and wine. We will not be back.
Long wait for food— over 2 1/2 hours
What a gem! Great food and service. Personable staff. Excellent wine list. Food was phenomenal.
I have been taking my family abd friends to rhus restaurant for over 15 years. Francis and Al always make it an enjoyabke experience. My husband and Brother in Law LOVE the Veal Parm.
This restaurant was a good choice to meet a friend on a Sunday afternoon. The ambience was perfect and we were very comfortable. The service was excellent and the food very tasty. We would definitely go back again.
Food was absolutely amazing! The service was fantastic and I definitely will be back.
Their pizza is authentic Italian pizza. Definitely not Dominos!
Soooo delicious! Everything was perfect. Would definitely go back.
One of our favorite spots. They treat is like family and the food is excellent.
From start to finish, this restaurant did not disappoint. Francis is an asset to your restaurant.
Good Italian food served in a casual setting. Friendly attentive service and a great value.
We had Mauro serving us and he was wonderful, as was the food. Even just their bread was great! I HIGHLY recommend the shrimp scampi, but be sure to show up with an empty stomach. It was a special occasion and the manager as well as Mauro took great care of us and made it a lovely evening. I must have pushed the reservation back three times almost last minute, and they were so kind and accommodating. They even provided a complimentary anti pasta dish of fresh fruit with a balsamic glaze. And THATS NOT ALL! They gave us a complimentary dessert, the La Fourno I believe it was called, Nutella and strawberries in some kind of dough that had a wood fire brick oven taste and it was delicious— this I also highly recommend. It was one of my last nights in the city before I move to Boston, and La Fourno outdid themselves and made the night amazing.
I just love this restaurant. On South St., fab pizza many options, fab menu - their seafood is so delicious! Portions are good size. Don't miss the Cannolli's or other desserts! Fun, friendly wait staff. Wait on you hand and foot to ensure your comfortable and taken care of! Oh, forgot to mention the generous and varietal cocktails and specials, bon appetite!
This is my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. I bring my out of town guests here all the time.
This place flies just under the radar and offers great Italian classics at a pretty good value. The service is great and very attentive. It’s great for impromptu nights out with your significant other. We will be back.
Although the wait staff aim to please, the food was mediocre at best. I had a $28 veal Parmesan that was stringy and very over cooked. Grilled shrimp appetizer was tasty, as was a lobster ravioli, but overall, a very disappointing experience. Will not go back.
We dined at LaFourno on Friday evening and it was great. We had a party of 8 and everyone got their entrée at the same time, everyone was happy with their meal and the specials. Definitely will return soon. Thank you!
Food was not bad but it also was just as good as take out style places
