La Fontana Della Citta Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere is cozy. The food is exceptional. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
I chose the restaurant for its culinary flexibility, Vegan and non restrictive food choices. We were amazed at the choices. We also liked the fact that it is BYOB. The only thing that struck me as odd was the only available times on Open table was for 4pm or 4:15pm. We got there for a 4pm reservation and we were the only people in the restaurant until after 5pm! I would have preferred a later reservation, but there were none to choose from. Overall, I highly recommend La Fontana dell Citta!
My friends and I visited this restaurant while we were in It Philly for a conference. Being from Boston we didn't know that they had restaurants that were byob. So we were taken by surprise when the waiter asked us if we brought our own wine. But the waiter was very nice he offered to give us complimentary wine from what they had. It wasn't great but it did the job. However the food was immaculate. I had the penne shrimp scampi it was to die for. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Also you'll have to try their homemade tiramisu. I'm not someone who ever writes a review especially a review but this restaurant deserves it
Excellent find on OpenTable. Family loved it. Izzy was great server and food was phenomenal... very tasty. Close to Academy of Music and Kimmel Center. Will go back. Only hope, that they might bring in some better artwork and redecorate slightly... would make a huge improvement and create a more intimate atmosphere. But overlook that for great meal, nice staff and good location.
We have been driving the hour drive and coming here for years but have not been there the last year. Very disappointed. The portions have shrunk and prices went up. The food was mediocre at best. I had capellini with crab. The pasta was over cooked and mushy. The crab tasted like it was out of a can. The desserts were very small and expensive! Very loud - could not hear each other talking. Would not drive an hour and pay 20 dollars for parking to come here any longer. Not worth it.
My friends and I have been to this restaurant before but it had been a few years. We found the service average, at best. We did not like our waiter; he was indifferent to our needs. The extra staff who fill water glasses, etc., kept skipping our table. I tried to call to them a few times to have my glass refilled but they never seemed to hear me. My food was bland whereas my friend had one of the specials and said it was very good. We also felt rushed at the end; clearly they wanted us to leave to get another group at our table. For what they charge and how they treated us, we all agreed that we would not go back to this restaurant.
Didn't like how the entire table had to go with the preset menu or the entire table had to order from the general menu. That put limits on the experience which I think were unnecessary. We were sat next to a roudy business group at a large table who were clearly out to party it up on the company's card. We could barely hear each other at our table.
We both ordered arugula salads and chicken parmigiana which were .delicious. The arugula salad was served with a generous serving of shaved parmigiana cheese. The complimentary wine was lovely. The setting is charming. I loved everything about this restaurant and will return.
We have been to this restaurant and been seated outdoors in the nice weather, and have always enjoyed it. This restaurant week trip was our first time indoors and it did not disappoint. The menu was both inventive and familiar, well prepared and tasty, and the servers were cheerful and attentive. We will be back.
When the waiter greeted he did not say hello or anything. We could tell something was wrong as if he didn't care that were there. Seemed annoyed at our presence.
Seated us. Walked away. We were the only people in the place at noon.
Came back 10 minutes later. Threw a basket of bread on the table no butter or olive oil.
Said what's your order. We decided that was enough and left. Never to return.
The only reason we put "poor" on the food is because that site makes one pick a star.
We never had any food or drink.
Went here for restaurant week, and we will be back! Had wonderful bruschetta to start, along with some complimentary house wine (don't forget to BYO!). The trio of pastas is what did it for us - Gorgonzola gnocchi, a blush sauce, and amatriciana sauce - each better than the last. I had chicken picatta as a main course, and it was so good! Best part by far was the cannoli for dessert. Definitely recommend!
Food was average and they kept trying to clear plates off of our table before we were finished eating the food on the plates. The whole evening was them trying to get us to finish and we were only there for an hour. At this price point, that is rude and completely unwelcoming.
