Knew nothing about this place, it was just a random pick near an event we were attending. Pleasantly surprised for sure. Good food, attentive staff, reasonable price. The only downside is that it’s that they have maybe more tables than the space should have, a bit packed in. But we will definitely go back!

This is my second visit to La Fontana Della Citta and I look forward to my next visit. The staff are professional and friendly, the food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Both times the food was delicious. This restaurant is my Rittenhouse Gem.

At the last minute we made plans to meet our friends for dinner before going to a show at the Interact Theater. It was easy to get a reservation here. The food was simply prepared and very good. No pyrotechnics here - just tasty and traditional red italian food. Very good acoustics - the four of us had no difficulty having intimate conversation. Fresh house salads, eggplant parm, spaghetti caprese, branzino and puttanesca were all enjoyable. We loved the lemon cake for dessert.

I picked restaurant because i like to try new places and the menu had a lot of creative pasta and seafood options. The food did not disappoint. The garden salad was fresh and portion was good. My entree was terrific blackened salmon with garlic spinach was very appetizing. We sat outdoors and location was quiet and peaceful great location in Center City. Staff was kind and attentive. Only negative thing i would mention is i indicated it was my birthday on reservation and restaurant ignored it.

We came here for a reunion of some friends. We chose the banquet menu, a three course deal that is a great value, especially when you consider we could BYOB. They gave us a table in the back and we were the only ones seated there, which made for a nice quiet evening for our group.
Service was exceptional as well.

Never has let us down. They have a sizable menu; however, we normally choose the specials which are always very good. The service is very good and friendly, and they never try to rush you. The price of the food and the byob aspect make it a great value.

Overall, the restaurant had good food but the atmosphere was "chilly" at best. Service was perfunctory but lacked any warmth or real attentiveness. Basically we were served and that was about it. And we were immediately put off by the "rules" for the restaurant at the top of the menu. We were there on a weeknight and the menu essentially told weekend visitors to essentially "not linger" after they ate because "seating was limited."

We weren't sure if the rest of the "rules" applied to evenings other than the weekend, but they expected an expenditure of at least $16.95 per person, had a corkage fee (at a BYOB?!), rules on check sharing and even instructions to keep the noise level down. Overall, the impression left was get in, eat your food and don't force us to make an extra effort or bother us, and get out. And while the food was good, it was not worth the price point. As we were leaving to attend the theater, we agreed that we wouldn't be coming back, nor could we recommend the restaurant. It was an unusual couple of weeks where we attended Kimmel Center events only 8 days apart, and the experience here at La Fontana was seriously lacking compared to that of restaurant we had been to the previous week where the service was first rate and delightful.

The service was great. We didn't realize it was byob so they offered each of us ( two in my party) a complimentary glass of wine. The seating outside was nice. The food was not to good. The portions were very small. The chicken parm was mainly just bread crumbs. The eggplants rolatini was under cooked. The gnocchi was pretty much just little balls of mush. The salad, cannoli, and cheesecake were the only good parts of our meal.

This is not restaurant. Poor lightning, bad smell. Looks like cheap eatery. I asked for wine, but waiter told me that if I want to drink wine I have to bring it with me. Afterwards he brought two glasses of liquid and told us that he is sharing his own wine with us. What a trick! Of course we did not even taste it. After we paid the bill, he ran after us into the street, grabbed my arm and required to leave a tip. I was shocked and added 20 dollars to the bill only so that my children are not afraid. Terrible experience.

Very nice menu and everything my daughter and I had there was fabulous. She's at UArts and my wife and I are often visiting from Raleigh. Daughter's favorite is Italian and after 6-8 tries in the area we found our "go-to Italian restaurant". It is BYOB. The chicken a la Fontana was very good. The chicken parm was EXCELLENT. The calamari was other-worldly....to die for. We will be back.

There was a wedding party so we obliged and sat in the basement along with some uninvited guests, fruit flies. We made a reservation through OpenTable but no one called us to inform us the staff would be at capacity that night. Otherwise, we would have booked elsewhere. Throughout the dinner, we had multiple waitstaff assist us but somehow still didn't have the things we needed like bread and more water on a 90 degree day. The staff was friendly and respectful and the food was very good. However, on the website, there is an ad about a 10% discount if you pay with cash. Although we brought this to the attention of the waiter, and paid with cash, we did not receive the discount. Because of the fruit flies, the service experience and the false advertising, we would not patronize this establishment again.

I don't generally write reviews, but I was so disappointed that I felt compelled. From bread that was dry and stale, to rock hard butter, to droopy lettuce, to tasteless Alfredo's sauce, to, finally, a scowling waiter who actually made me afraid of him, the experience was the worst I've had.

The food was very good, service was prompt. It was easy for us to get a reservation on a Saturday night. My only complaint was that the "rules" on the menu requiring minimum purchase and requesting you to expedite your dining were a little off putting, however the servers never pressured us to "hurry up" I would go back again. Overall a good value, good food and a convenient location!

Fontana della Citta is one of our regular dinner spots. The food is always delicious, and they sometimes have really neat specials. The eggplant rollatini is a favorite.

One thing to be careful of: we had a reservation through Open Table. When we checked in, we did not mention the words Open Table (who knew you had to), and, despite a $193 check, got no-showed by the restaurant with Open Table. So make sure you say the words "Open Table" to the hostess when you check in.

We've been dining at La Fontana for years, and it's always been a favorite. Unfortunately, we noticed that the portion sizes have gotten A LOT smaller the last 2 visits. I don't care for huge portions, but I don't expect to be hungry a couple of hours after an Italian dinner. Don't get me wrong - the food is still delicious, you just don't get much of it. This last time we also celebrated my boyfriend's birthday. After dinner, we ordered 2 cappuccinos and planned to choose some desserts. I had requested a candle for his dessert when I made the reservation online; however, the waiter never even asked what we wanted. Instead, he brought out one small piece of tiramisu with a candle in it, shortly after the cappuccinos came out. We don't typically care for tiramisu, but it was actually very tasty, so it wasn't the end of the world and it was a nice gesture; however, we would have preferred to choose dessert. We both had veal - I got (maybe) 4 thin, tiny pieces, 3 chunks of potato and a few pieces of broccoli. His dish was over pasta but you couldn't even see the pasta as it was hidden under a few small pieces of veal. We also shared an antipasto, which again was small. 1 piece of each meat/tomato and mozz/artichoke/etc per person. If you are okay with small portions, I'd still recommend this spot for some delicious food.
