La Fontana Coast Ratings and Reviews
we have been several times before and in the peak summer always feel like they are rushing us out. I get it - small place and you need the table. So we stopped going in the summer and were going in the off season. Visits were better. went last weekend with a last minute open table reservation - walked in and was seated right away and given menu's - then we did not see the waiter for quite some time - did not know about specials etc. There was a large table set up in the back so once that group started arriving, the rest of the place seemed to be ignored. We finally got the waiter to tell us the specials and we promptly ordered our meal before he walked away. the bus people were fine - water and bread etc. got the food - he dropped it off and turned away - did not bring cheese or a bowl for my shells etc. I had to flag him down. done the meal - waiter never came over to check on us. we finally asked the bus person to get us two coffee's and to tell the waiter we needed our check. IT WAS NOT HIS FAULT! there were only 2 waiters in the whole place trying to service a full room - after our arrival, the rest of the tables filled up and he had all of them and the other waiter was doing the group with two bus people for the rest. That is the fault of management to realize that you have too many guests and not enough staff. the food was great - such a shame that the service always sucks.
We went to LaFontana for New Year's Eve. Our meal was delicious, as usual. It was a little disappointing that the restaurant was somewhat overbooked, as our table was literally right up against the parties next to us on both sides. Luckily the people were very nice and friendly. But we won't let this deter us from returning. The food is always a treat! We have never had a bad meal here.
Once again I really enjoyed the food at La Fontana in Sea Isle. I like that it is a BYOB. Although it was New Years Eve I was pleasantly surprised the food was outstanding as usual.
The only complaints I had is people were packed in like sardines. I know they are trying to make everyone happy but it was crowded and loud. Due to the volume too the service was spotty.
The desserts were exceptional!
First time for us all (14). It seemed that everyone really liked their meal. A little pricey but special. Liked how they seated our large group in a “square” of tables so we all could see each other, rather than one long line of tables. Service was excellent, especially given the size of the group.
My wife & I were there this past Sunday & took advantage of the price fixed menu.
Service & food were both great ...Mussels, eggplant voltini, veal la fontana & the pasta with seafood were all terrific. Meal was well paced & service was excellent. Good value for $35 also
included salad & desert.
The food and services was great however it was way to noisy almost to the point where we could not hear ourselves. Also my friend and I split the bill and we gave the waitress two credit cards, but unfortunately both were charged to my account. She was very nice but I don't think she understood that we wanted to split the bill.
After being elated to find a nice restaurant open in the off season, I was disappointed to discover that their website claim for an ocean view must have referred to one of the paintings inside of the restaurant. There was no hope of glimpsing the ocean from their location. The waiter brushed off my question about the website claim. Not a great start to experiencing the restaurant for the first time.
The specials sounded appealing. I ordered the veal one and my friend ordered a chicken dish from the standard menu. Service was attentive and not rushed allowing us to order and eat at our own pace.
The bread was cool. With so few people in the establishment, why won't management take the extra appreciated step of warming the bread? It is such a small thing to accomplish that is so appreciated by diners.
The food was just OK. To our surprise, both dishes seemed to be swimming in the same, unremarkable brown sauce. It completely overwhelmed the taste of the veal in my dish.
I have eaten at one of their other restaurants, in Avalon, and felt the food served there was far superior to my meal at their Sea Isle City location.
Our Dinner at La Fontana Coast was unfortunately a little disappointing.
The restaurant was completely overbooked, so we had to wait with 15 other people for about 25 minutes until we got seated. They didn't clean any of the tables, so eventually every table around us was full with used dishes and dirty, even though the customers had left a while ago. The food was good, but also not worth the price. The ambiance was very nice, we met some nice people at the tables around us, what saved this evening! In general: good food, nice ambiance but very disappointing, chaotic organization!
Food was absolutely delicious! We started with the Caprese and Spinich Salad. Both were delicious. The salad was perfectly dressed. The Pollo Alla Franchese was amazing, so light and tender! The Vitello Milanese was very good but a bit tough. Topped off dinner with lemon sorbet with limoncello, perfect ending to a great meal. It was very crowded and very noisy. It wasn't the best place to celebrate our wedding anniversary but you could beat the terrific meal.
This was my first time at La Fontanna and I was not disappointed! I had read and heard good reviews about this restaurant but getting a reservation during the summer season is difficult. But my wife and I happened to be vacationing in Sea Isle in September so we thought we'd make a reservation to judge for ourselves. The service was very good, the waitress was attentive and the quality/quantity of food was very good. I would recommend La Fontanna to family and friends especially in the off-season.
We had a reservation for 8:15 but were not seated until 8:55. Luckily it was a beautiful night but had it been raining it would have been a major problem...there were at least 50 people waiting and all seemed to have reservations. They really need to do better with the over-booking. 10-15 minutes is acceptable but 40 minutes not good.
With that said, food was very good and service was great!
Our favorite Sea Isle Restaurant. On a busy Saturday evening this
restaurant performed graciously and professionally .The service was extremely pleasant
and effortless. The Food was outstanding..Our starters of Bruschetta and Fried Calamari set the tone and the Veal Medallions piccata style was without a doubt the best Veal I have ever had and My wife loved the Bronzino served off the bone..we look forward to becoming regular visitors at La Fontana Coast.
