Great service good food...
Arrived a little earlier then our reservations and got seated not only way later then our reservation but also after those who had NO reservations and that arrived after us were seated. Hard to enjoy the meal after that!
We come here every year around our anniversary. We were married next door at the Craigs Place B&B. We had our wedding reception at La Fondas back building and have come back every year to celebrate and for good luck!
Wonderful food and staff! We love Mexican food and is one of the best restaurants we've been to! Definitely a must when you come to visit San Antonio!
The new #9 dish was pretty tasty. And the ceviche was outstanding as always.
Good service and excellent food! Noise level was appropriate for casual conversation with friends.
Great service and wonderful ambiance. They were very accommodating to us and our two year old and four month old.
Always great. Consistent.
Good authentic Mexican food just a couple of miles from the Riverwalk
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the USA. The food, service, atmosphere and value are all 5 stars
Excellent as usual
La Fonda is a great neighborhood place that fits almost any occasion.
The food quality is always predictable. It's always good.
When possible, sitting outside is a must.
Terrific dining experience. Especially festive dining on their patio with hundreds of colorful lights in the trees. A San Antonio tradition not to be missed.
Great place. Wonderful food and great service
Had a great brunch - thank you!
I have been going to La Fonda on Main since 1990, the food is some of the best in San Antonio!
Best place if you like really good Mexican food. All six of our meals were exceptional
Juan was awesome waiter. Took good care of us!
First time to LaFonda. We were so pleased with the service and the food was super. We were visiting in town...otherwise we would have come back for more the next day!
Food was amazing! Service was very good.
Love La Fonda on Main! They have great margaritas, chips and salsa! The only issue I have had is sometimes the food coming out of the kitchen is not hot but still tasty!
Fantastic food, fantastic service...best spinach enchiladas I have ever had.
This was our first time at La Fonda on Main. We went on a Saturday evening and had a reservation. Parking was convenient and we were seated promptly. Our waiter, Sean, was knowledgeable and friendly. He was attentive without being annoying. The margaritas were out of this world. I got the special, a pomegranate margarita, and my husband got one made with orange. The mushroom empanadas appetizer was very good. The sauce really made the dish pop. My husband got the duck tacos and he loved them. I got the carne guisada. It was a little more rare than I usually like, but very good, nonetheless. We skipped dessert and coffee. My only complaint would be having to look at guys wearing shorts and t-shirts and baseball caps at two tables nearby. I know this is Texas, but having a suggested dress would elevate the entire experience for me. There is plenty of good Mexican food in Texas that is sold from a food truck. When I go to a nice restaurant and spend $25 an entre, I want to see people who spent 30 seconds thinking about their appearance.
We had a friend visiting from out of town so we went to La Fonda for dinner and all three of us were extremely delighted with our meals!! The service was just right for us - not too much and not too little. The weather was nice enough to sit outside and the area heater provided just enough heat to cut the chill. Lots of parking in and around the restaurant and their parking lots - how great is that! The staff was professional and courteous from the moment we entered the door of the restaurant and also as we departed. The pumpkin cheesecake was EXCELLENT!! A lovely evening we will remember. We are already thinking about going back after Thanksgiving to enjoy another exceptional meal.
Great,the day special delicious.
Excellent food and great service - we will be back!
Our most favorite restaurant in San Antonio, food and service is always great.
Living in Austin, we make the drive to San Antonio to have some of the best interior Mexican food around. Their Posole is a must, as is their fresh guacamole and amazing queso fundido.
The staff is always friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Marcilleno was so attentive, engaging, and helpful, we look forward to visiting again soon!
La Fonda is my favorite go to Mexican Restaurant for Central Mexican specialties. Excellent!
Our waitress was one of the best we have ever had and the food at La Fonda never disappoints--always delicious and perfectly prepared.
Always enjoy La Fonda on Main. However I do miss menu items that were my favorites like Pollo Milanese with Chayote and rice!
Absolutely excellent wait staff. Food was fresh. The margeritia's where very good. Made with all natural ingredients
Food is excellent. A fusion of traditional Tex-Mex with contemporary Southwestern. Drinks are also very good. Service can be s but slow during peak periods.
Great and eclectic yet authentic food. Was disappointed that their courtyard was not open due to a kitchen malfunction- as had specifically requested that for the ambiance for my out of town guest.
They did call me beforehand and let me know with an option to cancel my reservation but went ahead anyways and the food and service were great! Even though our seating area was not
We actually sat before our reservation time so that was a plus. We sat and our server took our drink order and got the drinks wrong so she had to have them make it again. In the meantime we waited for chips and salsa. Saw the server carrying the trays pass us three times and still no chips. We asked a second time. Finally on the third try we received them. The restaurant has made some changes, which all restaurants do, but the chips were not homemade. They were not good and tasted like they were from a bag. That just soured our experience even more. Finally after 20 min our server came back to take our order. At that point we asked for the check and we left. La Fonda has been going downhill for years and this really made up our minds. That will be the last time we ever try to eat there.
The food and service at this restaurant are above and beyond. Truly our favorite restaurant in San Antonio!
Best meal in San Antonio
La Fonda was our first dinner out upon arrival in San Antonio. It was recommended and did not disappoint. Our trout and red snapper entrees were fresh and delicious. I loved the cactus salad and had the leftover for breakfast! Our server was knowledgeable, helpful and professional.
I thought the food was ok. The menu was not very descriptive so when my food arrived it had a lot of items on it that I wouldn't eat. It was also odd that an enchilada dinner didn't have beans.
