Birthday and the waitress served my cake. So sweet!
This is our place to go when craving Mexican food! Service is outstanding and food is delicious!!
Very quaint decor, wonderful service, amazing food.
Will definitely be back!
Really wonderful place. Old vibe, well staffed and the property was beautiful. Drinks were fresh and well made.
Camote and enchiladas were served @ perfect heat, sauces were delicious and we loved the queso and chips.
My only complaint was Very Loud Room - food was exceptionally good & service attentive. Been here multiple times and never disappoints
Food was good but service is what keeps us going back to our favorite places. Unfortunately, the service was well below average.
We love the ambiance at this restaurant. The service is always great and the food is, as well. We tried the brunch on Sunday and were very pleased
We love this place (seated outside) for Sunday Brunch. Very creative food and drink options!
La Fonda on Main is a wonderful restaurant experience -- the environment is wonderful and energetic, and the food experience was exceptional.
The restaurant is lovely but it was very crowded. We had reservations for 8:15 but weren’t seated until about 8:45. The food came quickly and tasted good. There is parking off the street.
Wonderful food and wonderful service! The special cocktails are all worth a try. La Fonda on Main is always a great choice for a date night, casual dining, or a group event.
Open Table confirmed a time later than the time we were emailed. The restaurant was very apologetic though it really did not appear to be their fault. They worked very hard to get us in early and the manager comped us an appetizer while we waited. Service was exceptional as was the food. We can't wait to go again as this was our first experience at this establishment. The walk amole was so very fresh as was the queso fundido. Our main courses were delicious as well.
We had a reservation and called ahead that we were stuck in traffic. They ended up moving us outside and it was so hot we had to hurry and eat to get out of the restaurant. They have fans that were just blowing very hot air, and they don't have cooling misters that would have made the situation a lot better. So many restaurants in San Antonio have these misters and it makes for an unbearable situation bearable.
Excellent lunch! Beautiful historic restaurant. Great outdoor dining area, when temp is not 103 degrees.
Had not previously gone to La Fonda on Main, but went for anniversary lunch at wife's request, who has dined there before. Restaurant was clean and looked nice. Wife loved her food and was disappointed with my lack of enthusiasm on eating the Special and reported the taco was overly spicy (jalapeno?) and the tamale was, for a lack of a better term, rich. I suspect there were ingredients other than mesa and pork which lent it a richness or density that stalled consumption. I considered myself filled and gave the enchilada for my wife to eat.
Over all a pleasant experience and good service. But the favors just weren't for my boring pallet. Perhaps the reviews are correct and my local favorite, Salsalitos, makes food flavored for the old folks home next door.
Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable. This was our first time here in San Antonio. From NYC, we are here for my sister AFB graduation!!! Very nice welcoming and goodbyes...thanks
Great service the chips and salsa were fresh and yummy. The ambiance is very San Antonio.
Delicious food prepared to perfection. Unique flavors with a southwest flair. Attentive and knowledgeable servers. A favorite stop on every San Antonio trip we make.
We absolutely love this San Antonio, TX restaurant!
On our latest visit, one member of our party was a first-time visitor, but she wasn't given the free dessert. On our first visit, we weren't offered the free dessert either. Maybe this welcoming gesture has been discontinued.
Very nice restaurant with great food and ambience. Good for special occasions or anytime dining.
We always enjoy dining at La Fonda on Main. The food is delicious and the service is attentive.
We were greeted warmly and seated promptly with menus. Our server came to our table promptly and we were served in a short amount of time. I enjoyed my lunch consisting of 2 bisteak tacos and a bowl of chicken/vegetable soup. Parking can be a problem during lunch...I think next time I will do a late lunch.
We love the diabilitos. The margaritas and sangria are unsurpassed! We also love the specials and beef fajitas!
Excellent service, as well as food recommendations. Among our table we had queso flameado, bistek enchiladas, and the Tex-Mex special. All the food was well-presented and very flavorful. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town.
I love La Fonda on Main! Always good food and margaritas!
The food and drinks were terrific, and the place gets packed early.
Unfortunately, we noted we were celebrating a special occasion and the restaurant did not acknowledge it.
Rainbow trout was phenomenal! For fish, the trout didn’t taste like fish. Prime Rib enchiladas were amazing, very tender. Excellent service and very fair price! Well worth it every time.
We went early and sat outside. Food was good. Margaritas were excellent. Service was average.
I took my family of vegetarians for dinner. They had been in Texas from California for two weeks and had Mexican food four times in restaurants. They pronounced the queso to be the best they’d had! My seven year old grandson had sweet potato enchiladas and called them his “best meal ever!” We had three different margaritas and loved them all. Sean was a very attentive waiter and really knew the food well, making great recommendations. It was a wonderful meal and evening!
The server was attentive, and the food was delicious!
Service is always very prompt. Hostess and server (Sean) great and attention to detail. Food and drinks perfect for a nice dinner. Highly recommend to dine at this location when visiting SA.
Absolutely love the food and ambience at La Fonda on Main.
This is a great place to meet up with friends. Cappy's take on TexMex along with a great bar and nice wine selection. Fantastic outdoor seating in almost any San Antonio weather is quieter than inside, but we had a large table with great conversations.
Tasty Sunday Brunch. Our dishes looked like works of art too. And the gold margarita is always on point. Thank you for another wonderful meal.
Seated in the garden, lovely surroundings. Our waiter was is training, learning a lot from his trainer/mentor. Brunch menu very innovative, we loved the Chorizo Benadicto's and their spin on Huevos Rancheros was great. A little vacation in the city.
Excellent as always and a terrific Mar y Terra special!
