La Fia Ratings and Reviews
La Fia is a great addition to downtown Wilmington's restaurant scene. We went for dinner before theater and to celebrate my husband's birthday. I had a beet salad and quail with chestnut stuffing. He had tuna crudo and lamb chops. Everything was delicious. The portions were ample and we both felt very satisfied with our dinner.
My wife and I celebrated out 27th wedding anniversary with you on Thursday night.
First visit in a while and we were pleased to find that La Fia has kept up the standards that we have always come to enjoy.
The food is always top notch as well as the service.
My thanks to all involved.
We promise to visit more often.
Every wonderful thing said in the other reviews is TRUE. The food here is FANTASTIC. Servers and staff, though clearly overworked, are ALL cheerful, pleasant, and a delight. There was not a single dish here that was average or poor. Both of us found the appetizers, pasta, and mains to be fabulous. Had the octopus, buccatini, bass, and pork chop. Wines were all well paired and the server (Amy) was very knowledgeable and her suggestions were spot-on. The Merchant cocktail was also delicious. I would be happy to make a detour here anytime I travel the I-95 corridor
Seems to be slipping a bit. Still the best food in Wilmington, by far. Could use a little more attention to the little things (service not consistent, place settings were not complete at each table with missing napkins/utensils, upkeep could improve by fixing the wall bruises). Again, menu and food are terrific. Just could use a little more TLC as it gives the impression that no one is staying on top of the restaurant.
We grabbed appetizers before the ballet and enjoyed good service and food. The prices are a little high; be smart and ask for wine by the glass prices before ordering. I was dismayed when I got the bill and the "house Chardonnay" was $15/glass. I had ordered 2 not realizing I was spending more on wine than an entree! Otherwise, a gourmet meal with excellent service. The cheese board is very delectable and is $22. I have also enjoyed brunch on a Sunday when it is offered. This is a good choice when you have some money to spend.
This is our go to place for dinner before heading to the Delaware Theater Company. We are never disappointed; well, I was disappointed that the duck breast was not available. But our server highly and enthusiastically recommended their new pork chop from some heritage breed. So I ordered it. It was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best I've ever had. My dining companion ordered the rack of lamb and it was also great. But we both agreed that the pork chop was the star of the evening. We shared a great apple crisp with vanilla bean ice cream to finish the meal and it too was great. This will continue to be our go to place to dine before the theater!!
Seared Tuna Tataki was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. Service was prompt for lunch and the waitress acknowledged that this was a return visit for me. This made me feel appreciated. Reservations are highly recommended; the cozy space fills up quickly. I will definitely return!
Excellent menu, food was fantastic. The atmosphere was nice, not cramped like many places in the city. Our server Diego was excellent. He really knew the menu and offered great suggestions when we asked. Again, the food is exceptional, some very creative dishes with local ingredients.
I had the most amazing dinner a few weeks ago and came back for the same thing. I started with the heirloom tomato salad and I had the lamb entree. Both were incredible and my second time having them. For dessert I had the apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and that too was amazing. It’s definitely big enough for two people to share but I ate the whole thing myself. Service was ok. It’s always tough eating alone because they don’t always pay too much attention to you.
Our cocktails were perfect. It was restaurant week so there was a three course menu which included almost the entire daily menu. Each course was artistically presented and tasted wonderful. Our server/bartender was spot on with his recommendations and very attentive.
Overall positive experience - food very good, service attentive. But we went during restaurant week and maybe saved some money but portions very small - more of a tasting menu. Server said that normal portions are twice as large. I guess that's just the way it goes.
The staff seemed overwhelmed, and even though we were patient, the original server could not even remember our order for drinks, and returned after 10 minutes to ask us what we ordered again.... three other waitresses filled in, and we never saw Matt again...
But the food was great, and hope to give them another try soon!
My boyfriend and I have been to La Fia many times, we decided to take his father to show him since he was in town. As always, amazing food and it was restaurant week there as well so amazing price for the dinner we got. Also our server was excellent this evening, made great recommendations and answered all of our questions.
We went there for Restaurant Week on a date night, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience, which included well-crafted cocktails, excellent wine, and dishes that were creative, prepared with care, and obviously made from the highest quality local ingredients. Even the butter for the bread was outstanding. I especially recommend the grilled octopus first course.
Excellent service - friendly, knowledgeable and attentive w/o being obtrusive at all. My wife had the Don and Son Pinot Noir (as did I with dinner) - velvety smooth and delicious, I had a pretty good Old Fashioned. The cheese board was outstanding and very generous at $22 -
I couldn't finish my main course! We really took our time with this and were not even a bit rushed. For the main, she ordered the Smoked Black Cod, I had the Mushroom Ravioli. Both were mouth-wateringly good. No room for dessert. Only caveat: noise. La Fia was packed - on a Wednesday night! - and we had to turn up the volume, if you will, to hear each other. A lively room, for sure. Not sure I'd come back for a quiet, romantic dinner, but we'll definitely be back for the food and service. I would definitely recommend reservations.
