Dinner: Monday - Saturday 5pm-9:30pm
Dinner for 6 at La Fia Saturday night was a very nice experience. The staff honored a special request made prior to coming without hesitation. As we were a bigger party (the restaurant is not overly large) they seated us in a tucked away niche in back. It was perfect for our needs. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. He made sure we were not wanting for drink- refreshing and did not hurry us. We don't get together very often so this was appreciated.
The menu is a bit limited but as foodies and we appreciate the quality of the preparation and the imaginative food offerings. The menu seem to vary somewhat daily which speaks highly of the chef and staff for cooking thoughtfully and strategically. The wine list is not extensive either, but nicely varied, well chosen, and provides something for every taste preference. For appetizers we tried the dates stuffed with bleu cheese (good, but needed a slightly sharper bleu to balance the sweetness, IMO), and a beet salad that was beyond delicious. Three people ordered "Extras" in place of apps: roasted cauliflower with golden raisins, garlic roasted mushrooms, and fried brussel sprouts. The waiter laughed about turning the menu upside down but thought it wasn't a bad idea. We shared all the apps and everyone agreed they were very satisfying. Entrees chosen included a nicely cooked Cobia served with three different types of winter squash which tipped the dish into the fantastic catagory, rigatoni and sausage minus the sausage, and duck confit with a smokey, flavorful vegetable ragu that was out of this world! It was our good luck to not try the bread until well into our meal...because otherwise we would have filled up on it! Seriously, it's that good:) To end the night we shared a tiramisu! Our only criticism is that there was only one vegetarian entre the night we were there. The others will be sad, but my partner and I will make a 2 1/2 hour drive soon just for La Fia.
Simply an amazing meal with spectacular service. We cant wait to go back
First visit to La Fia. Bread was excellent. Minimal beer selections, bottle & cans only. Server was great, entree of the lobster pasta was excellent but quite small. Rigatoni was equally good. Tables were very close, had to shoehorn into our seats & the convo from the tables we were wedged between were intrusive.
Its my go to place if i want to impress someone about the dining quality of Wilmington
La Fia is the best restaurant in Wilmington. Food and service can't be beat. We love it!
Impeccable service! We were imediately seated. Our server was fantastic! And the food, absolutely delectable! Compliments to their chef
Very consistent. Never disappointed.
Great food, great service, what else is there to say.
Diner with friends
Outstanding. Best restaurant in Delaware. Highlights are duck Cassoulet and octopus. Great wine selection. We look forward to next visit.
Always a delight. Several new items, including a duck cassoulet that was beyond belief. It's kind of a fresher take on the classic dish, with a duck leg on top. Best duck I ever tasted. They said it was cooked low and slow. As usual, our server suggested the perfect wines. I saw one negative review of La Fia -- and the fool was criticizing food they don't even serve! This place is the best.
First time, we enjoyed the food and the service and staff were great. Thanks
It was a great lunch on a dreary day. Food was first rate and the waitress was as helpful as could be. I had the caesar salad with hangar steak which was perfectly ccoked. Other entre salad with bacon and avocado was excellent as well. A pleasure for lunch.
Try the special wild boar chili. A knockout! And kudos if you can guess the spice (we had to ask).
Pre Delaware Symphony Orchestra (DSO) dinner. Everything was stellar from the cocktails to the shared dessert. The service was also fabulous. We won't wait until the next DSO concert before we return!
Fine Food, Fine Wine, Fine Service. We have been several times and have always had a great dining experience.
Really loved the food and the service at this place. It has to be one of the best places in Wilmington. Total gem
Great experience for an overnight in Wilmington. Octopus was incredible, homemade pasta cooked perfectly, and pork chop was wonderful... Our only food critique would be the toast "points", which were a bit oversized and non-descript (fois gras)/too vinegary (tapenade) for our taste.
Crowded tables and stingy pours on The cocktails and wine glasses.
Great meal and ambience! My only complaint is that it has a limited menu; would have liked to have had a few more choices. Everything else was wonderful!
The pasta entrees were delicious, although a bit pricey. The warm dates appetizer was very tasty, but very small portion. The bread was outstanding with a nice crust and multi-grain taste. Nice wine list, but the amount in the glass was not generous. The building that La Fia is located in had a lot of character and nice ambiance inside. Our waiter was lackluster and not attentive and distracted from the overall experience. This restaurant is a a welcome addition to downtown Wilmington and I wish them much success, but they will need to be aware they are close to over-pricing their menu and offer better service by their staff.
It was wonderful, the duck was to die for. My wife love the drinks and our waitress was the best. Over all it was great, we haven't been able to stop talking about the restaurant yet. We told our friends and family members about it.
This is my go to place when I want a special dinner or lunch .....food is always excellent and service first rate...it is not a big restaurant so reservations are recommended and if you can steal a table by the window is a good place to do some people watching.....it can be loud when the restaurant is full but well worth the visit....Queen is across the street so a good place to caught a drink and a few apps to enjoy before the performance
Food was outstanding. Service was good too. Really enjoyed this restaurant
Excellent food. The menu offered several unique options and the cocktails were fantastic as was the food.
Really liked this spot, very cute decor and lighting and great farm to table food. The bucatini pasta was so good.
V nice place. I dined by myself and found it comfortable and with enough ambiant light to read my Kindle
Second visit. Limited but varied menu from delicious pasta dishes to game to steak. Both visits were great.
I always get a great meal! Also, I like the rustic decor and the location on Market Street.
Great food. Wonderful menu. Amy our server never missed a beat.
We had a large group for a birthday, and service got off to a bit of a slow start, but everyone was very kind. The food was wonderful, as it has been consistently on our last several visits. I appreciated their allowing us to bring a homemade cake, for which they charged an understandable and reasonable fee.
Cocktails and wines were all good.
We had a delightful cheese board, pork duo and ravioli. Boardeaux wine was impeccable. Service was caring and timely. La Fia never disappoints.
This was our second visit to La Fia. Both exceptional evenings. We arrived earlier than our reservation, but we were seated promptly and at our favorite table(last one in the back). Our server, Diego was great. Knowledgeable of both the wine list and menu items. He was attentive and interacted with other guests as well
We shared appetizer's, eggplant toast and the grilled octopus. Both were excellent. My wife chose the Cobia and I selected the Duck Breast. We thoroughly enjoyed each entree.
We were celebrating our anniversary and I had noted in my reservation that my wife loves any dessert with apples. The kitchen staff made her a special dessert, Apple Epineida(sp)
We highly recommend LaFia for any occasion.
Had a great lunch here and was able to sit outside on a lovely day!
Always great food and great cocktails (lemon drop martini, Manhattan, old fashioned are all excellent) - and THE BEST service by Lindsey. She is spot on with recommendations based on what you tell her you like and don’t like. Charcuterie board is divine.
This was our first time here. We will definitely be back. The service was outstanding, our server Lindsey was very attentive to our needs. The food was amazing and worth the splurge. Give La Fia a try, I am sure you will not be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this restaurant,; food was delicious and mildly unique. I like that ever item was on the actual menu rather then listening to specials. I love the ambiance of the location and service was excellent. My only complaint, it’s so loud! If you have good hearing, you’ll be fine, but us older people, not so great. I would still go back!
Great food and service ! Nice ambiance ! We will be back
Great place to go after a trip on or before going on the train to or from NYC
