Occasion was a holiday luncheon for five former high school classmates. We could not have chosen a better venue. The service and wait staff were impeccable....easily available but not hovering. The menu and specials were varied, and each menu item we ordered was prepared perfectly and the food portions appropriate. The holiday décor was a nice added touch, and the quiet efficiency and atmosphere made it easy to converse. In fact, we enjoyed recounting past "special family occasions" that each of us has attended at La Ferme.

I took my mom there for her birthday and she liked it! She’s so grateful that the pianist played “Happy Birthday” (and more than once) and everyone sang along! She had a good time

It was a wonderful meal in a lovely atmosphere. Nothing can top their chocolate soufflé!

Very traditional restaurant, no surprises, food is good nothing creative or inventive. Wish the waitstaff was not so surly, maybe they have been doing this too long and are burnt out.

A classy restaurant, jacket and tie not absolutly necessary, but you might feel underdressed without them. At the same time, there is a homey feel, as of many people are regulars there. The ambiance is lovely. The food and service are excellent. We sat near the piano player, who was terrific, very accomplished, friendly, and not too loud. Make sure to save room for a soufflée for dessert.

Le Ferme (The Rooster) is more than a classic. Dinner was terrific. Pureed Vegetable Soup was a highlight as well as the snapper and the angus beef. All good..

We've eaten at La Ferme many times before. This was probably the busiest we've seen it, and it did take away from the atmosphere. In the past, we've had very dedicated service. The service wasn't bad, it was just average. And we don't go to La Ferme for average.

Good food, reasonable portions, excellent service. A little noisy but the general ambience is reminiscent of expensive restaurants of the 50s and early 60s.

Great place for a special celebrations. great food for someone who eats meat, not so much for a vegetarian, I love how cozy and romantic the place looks, tables are kinda close, I don’t like how big the chairs are because if you are little, you definitely feel and look smaller sitting in those chairs.

Ladies at lunch. When booking, asked for quiet table in corner- which we got, and separate checks, which we did not. The waiter said that we needed to ask him, which implies they do not have access to, or read, the requests. ( We ended up asking him to split the check 4 ways, which he was willing to do.)

The atmosphere is very cozy and the food was good. the lunch menu is quite diverse and well priced for DC. La Ferme has been in this neighborhood for years. The lunch crowd appeared to be mostly seniors enjoying leisurely lunch and companionship. Doesn't seem to be a trendy spot for millennials at all.

Would like to try the outdoor covered patio in warmer weather.

With the fireplace roaring, the dining room was a lovely place for a get together with three friends for lunch. I love going there because the service is always perfect and the room is quiet enough that a table of 4 can talk without any problem. The food is quite good.

The La Ferme restaurant has been in business at this location since 1940. In 1934 there was a Tea held in honor of Eleanor Roosevelt when the building was a Tea House, there is a photo of that in the back hallway, as well caricatures of a few famous people Nestled in the almost 120 year old neighborhood of Chevy Chase. It offers excellent French food, prepared to perfection. It is a quiet and relaxing place to spend a lovely evening in the un-rushed European dining manner. The atmosphere is wonderful. Go and enjoy this beautiful place, these gems are few and far between.

The food, ambiance, and general atmosphere was wonderful. Our server was very disrespectful, however. We arrived five minutes early for our 9pm reservation. When we were seated, the server immediately came over and asked what we were having to drink before giving us a drink menu. When we ordered drinks, he asked what we wanted for dinner. We ordered appetizers and asked him to come back. He told us in a very rude manner that the kitchen was about to close and we needed to order now if we wanted more than appetizers. It was 9:08, the kitchen closes at 9:30 for orders. We then heard him having an attitude with other people who worked there. When he did take our entree order, he seemed like he was in a rush and didn’t actually wait for us to finish ordering before he snatched the menus away (9:11). He never came back to check on us. We saw him talking to other servers, but never came back to ask us if we needed anything, how our meal was, or for any other reason. Another server brought us our check so we could leave.

Everything was wonderful and it would have been the perfect night if our server hadn’t hurried us so much and been so rude.

Great anniversary dinner.

We had a nice table in the corner. The butternut squash risotto with lobster was delicious as was the NY steak. Wine was good and the service was wonderful. Chocolate suffle closed a memorable evening

La ferme never disappoints. My husband and I went for our joint birthday celebration on a Tuesday night. The service was good - not perfect - our waiter was in a long conversation with another table so we literally had to flag him down to get an after dinner drink but otherwise good.

Hi. We've been to this restaurant three times in the past six months. Once for brunch on Mother's day, lunch with our kids, and the other night for dinner. Every time I've enjoyed the food, ambiance and decor of this lovely restaurant. When we brought our children, they loved how fancy it felt and I loved how nice the waitstaff was to them.

However, though the waitstaff is lovely, it seems they need a Maitre D' overlooking them. The other night we were completely forgotten by our waiter and felt less than good with his demeanor. There was a table of what seemed to be regulars next to us and the he seemed to be more concerned with them than with us. He passed right by us several times and never gave a quick check-in. He moved so quickly and with his head in the air, that I couldn't grab his attention. I should mention that it took a very long time for us to get our menus in the first place and when he did approach, he didn't seem to care that we were there. After he finished taking our order, we shared one of those eye-contacts that said, "yikes, we are an insignificant."

It was one of those evenings when we our water glasses weren't replenished and he never gave a nod to see if we needed anything as he rushed by to help the other table. He did voluntarily replace my bowl of empty mussel shells when it was full, but that was it. I observed another table finally stand up to go find a staff person to pay their bill. I heard her say (nicely), "I don't know what you all are doing back here, but we've been waiting to pay this bill." We waited a long time too. The other staff are very attentive when they are paying attention, but they don't seem to have a system of paying attention and there are gaps in their actual presence in the room.
Regardless, I would recommend La Ferme to others and I will go back, but I would warn them of the service and pray not to have that same waiter. He was an older gent with a pony tail and a (French?) accent. Sorry.

The service was pretty sloppy. Not only the food took forever to get to the table, and between courses, but the waiter didn’t bother to explain the delay, pour more wine, or simply ask whether we needed anything. I cannot wait to have more dinning options in Chevy Chase

If you like French food you'll like La Ferme ...it was a very good experience. My wife and I had dinner there on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday.

The bar area is small but appropriate for a nice restaurant ...about 8 bar seats and three high-top tables for two. The bartender was pleasant without being intrusive ...he came over to us within just a few minutes of us sitting down. After that the service was very attentive without being overbearing.

The restaurant is a good size without being too large. We did wait a little longer than we're used to waiting before our server presented the menu and discussed specials. Then again, this is a fairly pricey restaurant so I didn't want to be rushed.

The food was excellent. My wife had a lobster bisque and I had the soup du jour -- split pea with ham. They were both very good. For dinner my wife had mussels and I had venison medallions ...both were excellent. We finished by sharing a chocolate souflee, which was quite good.

All in all a great night.

Excellenct authentic French food in Chevy Chase, MD. I'd kind of vaguely heard about this place but never really focused on it. My boyfriend loves French food so after reading some reviews, we tried it. Delicious! There were so many things he wanted to try that he had two appetizers and an entree. And still insists we need to go back at least 4 times. The salmon pasta appetizer was mouth watering. And I ordered the regular scallop appetizer but got the special - scallop with pumpkin ravioli and spinach; I was halfway through before I realized it wasn't what I ordered (scallop on top of corn and tomato salad) but it was delicious so I kept eating. He had the roasted chicken with couscous and I had a dinner special - espresso encrusted NY strip with red wine shallot jus, Parmesan truffle fries and green beans. He loved the chicken, and it was nice and moist and very hot. My steak and fries were terrific - great flavor on the steak and the fries were hot and crispy - but the green beans were just average. We finished with hazelnut soufflé - light, airy and not overly sweet. My only disappointment is that I left half my steak on the table because I forgot my doggy bag. We'll definitely be back and I've already recommended it to a friend!

We are "LA FERME" believers. This restaurant, unlike so many, gets better with age. I had the House Made Taurine of Foie Gras for an appetizers. Excellent (although, could i get a second piece of bread?) My bride had the Mescluin Salad with goat cheese. Main course was rack of lamb and really the most delicious lobster risotto i have ever had. Top off with a Hazelnut souffle. Seriously, does it get better. All brilliantly served by our server Harusha.

We had a delightful evening with old friends. The ambience was great in a beautiful setting that reminded me of my years in France dining in quaint French village restaurants. The service was good and the meals were delicious and cooked perfectly to our specifications. We could easily carry on a good conversation without any disturbance from other diners. I had the grilled pork which was superb. The Pouilly Fuisse was a perfect compliment and reasonably priced. We and the other couple are sophisticated diners and eat out quite often. Highly recommend.
