Veal scallopini was not good. The room was cold everyone was eating with a coat on. The restaurant is tired with below average food.
The meal was just perfect! The sweetbreads were so fresh and tender, such a treat. The soufflé was decadently delicious. Service attentive yet unobtrusive. Can’t wait to return!
I was very disappointed in the Restaiurant. We had asked for the balcony and was told a large party of 16 people was going to be upstairs in the balcony, but they never came
The food was good, but very small portions for the price. The service was terrible even though I did give a good tip. The last time we came two years ago, it wasn't very good, but thought it would get better. We will not come again to this restaurant. I'm done now
A took a friend there to celebrate her birthday, as she loves it. Food and ambience were good but service was disappointing.
Celebrated my DiL's 30th birthday. The food was amazing, as always, and the service was just right. Ambiance makes you want to move in and stay. Prices are high, so you basically get what you pay for at La Ferme!
Everything about La Ferme consistently pleases. The food, service and ambience are always reliable, whether for a special occasion in the main dining room or a casual drop in at the bar. The do I g experience is always delightful.
Lovely long lunch with friends. Love this restaurant and is a Washington institution! So fine,

Snowy Saturday night turned into a great dining experience at La Ferme restaurant. Three expertly crafted Grey Goose vodka martinis very dry, cold, lemon rind and two olives. My salad was an excellent Belgian endive salad with walnuts and bleu cheese, entrée, tasty roasted quail with well seasoned vegetables. Waiter recommended a read to compliment my meal and I topped of the evening with a double espresso. magnificent.
We really enjoyed La Ferme a few years ago for a Mother’s Day brunch. Celebrating a birthday, we returned. But now parents of a 19mo, we were surprised how child unfriendly they were.
They have no high chairs. They have no kids menu. They have no drink cups for kids.
The staff seemed mildly annoyed by our (actually very well behaved) little one. We won’t be going back for a few years.
Food and service were both excellent!!
Really a wonderful place. Went there for my birthday: excellent service, authentic food, great for conversation, elegant and yet cozy. Classic French cuisine, well presented but without being stuffy.
Excellent presentation and cuisine . The service was slow. I ordered a soufflé when I ordered my meal and it took over 25 minutes after we had finished our meal. It was excellent but a little frustrating.
Excellent experience as always. The food was first rate and the service was impeccable. It is nice to have such a great place to enjoy an excellent meal and sit and visit with friends.
Wonderful food and drink. Highly recommended for ambiance .
Awesome everything. Excellent for food and meaningful conversation. Wait staff superb.
Perfect for Special occasions. Max 8 folks
The food was excellent. Service was generally good but I guess I really hate it when a water glass is empty and that’s all I’m drinking.
Delicious food. Happened to be very busy so very slow service because overwhelmed.
Quality restaurant with exceptional wait staff. They have a good variety of meat and seafood entrees.
Lovely place to celebrate early New Years.
We've been patronizing La Ferme for 30-40 years, but the last couple of times there we have been extremely disappointed. The other night we took 7 people to dinner there (including visitors from overseas) and were very embarrassed by the quality of the food and service. The caeser salad was drowning in dressing, the oyster soup my friend had was so salty she couldn't eat it and had to be redone by the chef, the liver was dreadful, the trout almondine was totally tasteless, and even the (very expensive) Dover sole was not up to par. Besides this, we never really knew who our waiter was because they kept changing, and the pianist was pleasant but pretty bad. We've always loved the atmosphere of La Ferme (cozy and romantic), but for what we paid there we could have gone to any high-scale restaurant in the area.
We look forward to an elegant meal in a quiet, unhurried space with a fire and a quiet piano playing in the background. Lovely wine, tasty salad, fine food - half a lobster fricassee with seafood risotto.
Very French, very good food, very charming, "in place"
I would have liked the restaurant to have been more up front about the fact there was a prix fixe menu for the evening and the price involved. It was not clear at the time we made our reservation. While the food was very good it was a "gasp situation" when we were presented the menus after being seated. It resulted in an awkward and uncomfortable discussion at the start of the evening.
I had been to la ferme with my husband for our wedding anniversary I was recommended by a frien d I can tell that I was very pleased The food was good The service The neighborhood,so quiet The live music Everything was excellent I will surely recommend La ferme The only thing Is that no one speaks french there
Food, wine, and ambiance were wonderful, however the wait staff could have been more attentive. Wait time on occasion and lack of bringing an item for the rolls were not satisfactory. We never did receive the olive oil for the bread even upon 2 requests. Otherwise it was a very pleasant dinner.
Food was very tasty and ambiance is attractive. But service is spotty at best. It took a waiter
fifteen minutes to discover us and then there were long waits for food. Is the experience worth
the long waits? Maybe.
The best! Food fabulous. Service excellent. Parking a dream. Check out the bar. A great addition to Chevy Chase
Great experience. First night out for my wife and I in several months. Packed Saturday night during the holidays. Started at the small bar, which was great. Loved our meal. If you are getting a soufflé, it is really big for one person.
It was my birthday dinner with friends and family - and everyone enjoyed their meal, it was easy to converse across the table, and I liked the candle lit besides my creme brulee. I always get calves' liver there becasue I never make it and it is a favorite of mine -
We had a lovely holiday celebration at La Ferme over the holidays with family from out of town. The service was great, and the food the usual excellent quality.
Been to this restaurant many times. Definitely one of my favorite special occasion restaurants in the area.
La Ferme is always a delight in all respects. Beautiful surroundings, excellent food, great service. East parking, a real plus for this area. We don't live in the area but when we are in town going to La Ferme for either lunch or dinner is a treat.
This is an old favorite which never ceases to satisfy. The food may not be cutting edge, but it is consistently excellent, albeit a bit traditional. Service is always excellent, and the prices are reasonable, considering the quality of ingredients and service.
Our experience was delightful. The ONLY unfortunate part was that the piano player was sick and not replaced. Other wize food great, service great.
I always enjoy my visits here. The ambiance and the service are exceptional. I very much enjoyed my entree - trout almandine. A couple of our guests were less impressed with their choice of Filet steak.
We celebrated my in-laws 50th at La Ferme and had a wonderful time. We started with a fun drink with Mark in the bar and then moved over to a big table in front of the fireplace. The service, food and atmosphere was just what we needed to have a proper celebration for their anniversary. We missed to piano player and hope he's back soon.
For the price, there are much better options all around the Bethesda area. My sole muniere was over cooked and underseasoned. Deboning table side is a great idea but the fish was cold as a result. Scallop appetizer was underwhelming as well. Only the grand mariner soufflé was worthy of being labeled a high end restaurant dish. Service too las lackluster. Piped Christmas music was annoying as well. I wanted this to be a memorable fine dining experience. The only memory is of being let down from high expectations. No wonder the clientele is largely retirees who go there out of habit, and not because of the experience.
I have been going to this restaurant for more than 20 years! Just wonderful ambience and food! I love the live music!
Never disappoints. Food is always good and ambiance is perfect
The staff was cordial and attentive without being intrusive or overpowering. Our party arrived in stages and they were most accommodating to our shifting holiday season schedules. We had a delectable meal, with tasty salads -- the endives salad with blue cheese, apples and nuts was delightful, and the Caesar salad as well, each of our entrees -- equally pleasing -- the stuffed sole, mushroom and artichoke ravioli and trout almondine, cooked to perfection and absolutely delectable. We took leftovers so that there would be room for dessert and the three of us shared two, which were again delicious and both a bit surprising -- the chocolate and grand marnier mousse cake was light and tasty -- more mousse than cake-- but that was fine by me and then the brownie with ice cream was crispy and cookie shaped, also delectable.
In all, it was a delightful evening, relaxed, yummy and fun. The staff also helped us belatedly celebrate the birthday of our dear friend.
