No charge, no valet.
The service was “off”! The server left for a family emergency and never informed us. Waited and waited for table to be cleared and for dessert. Manager apologized and gave us two cappuccinos on House. Food very average and not of quality that La Ferme was in its heyday. Nice fireplace, lively bar scene (separate from main dining area) and above average soufflé.
Excellent food and charming, outstanding service! Romantic setting, wonderful cocktail, Sazerac, as well!
We have been going to La Ferme for more than 20 years. It’s a wonderful restaurant and a great place for Birthdays, Anniversaries, and parties. The food is always great and they will accommodate special orders.
Only criticism: We were never offered the dessert menu and there was no effort made to recognize my daughter’s birthday tho’ I had mentioned it in my reservation.
I surprised my wife with La Ferme close to home. We had an awesome time for our Anniversary! Food, service and ambiance was excellent. My daughter enjoyed too. Look forward to coming back again.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance for visiting but the food was not good. The caesar salad was so heavily dressed that the person who ordered it did not eat it, the onion soup was warm at best (not hot), and the special of halibut was so over cooked that it was dry and hard. The restaurant charges way too much for this kind of food. We will not be back. The server seemed to care less and once he took our order wasn't seen much, he never asked us how the food was.
Took a friend out for a milestone birthday Food was extraordinary and wine was excellent as was the service. We will go back for special events.
Another wonderful meal at La Ferme. We celebrated an anniversary and were not disappointed. The coffee crusted filet mignon was melt-in-your mouth. Service was excellent without being in the way and we enjoyed the pianist.
Absolutely delicious. We met friends we hadn’t seen in awhile to catch up. It was perfect for that. I loved the scallop special appetizer and the chicken with Calvados sauce. My girlfriend had the steak frites special and thoroughly enjoyed it. The men each had a different fish entree and were quite pleased with their selections. They make a great Manhattan too
Charming French country house in Chevy Chase. Ample parking in the back. Professional service. Traditional French cuisine done very well. Get the French onion soup!
Always lovely to be there and the piano man is a nice touch.
Quiet, live piano. Classical French cuisine, outstanding. The best dessert souffles (4 kinds) in Washington, including chocolate.
We had a delightful birthday dinner in a lovely atmosphere close to home.
As always, the service was fine and the food very good.
As usual, the meal was excellent - chateaubriand was wonderful. Although the souffle was a bit undercooked. The ambiance was charming and the service exceptional. Piano player is always a very nice sidelight to the meal. We have never had anything but a really nice time here.
A lovely neighborhood spot in quaint Chevy Chase. Good food. Lovely service. Delightful ambience.
I think my 5 star rating says it all. The wait staff is exceptionally well trained and the food was delicious. In spite of a full house, the noise level was moderate. Everything came on time was served to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
La Ferme has been operating in our neighborhood for decades, but, sadly, it is in decline. Our party was promptly seated, but ten minutes passed with no further acknowledgement. I walked about and asked if anyone would wait on us and the maître-d took our order.
I had the special of the day, lamb shank. The description sounded great in featuring an array of herbs, but when it came, the lamb was a decent cut drenched in brown gravy that reminded me of tasteless stuff from a can a little restaurant in my college years served.
My brother, who I hosted and vainly tried to impress, ordered the filet mignon, clearly stating to put no peppercorns on top and the sauce on the side. The sauce was on the side, but the top was crusted with peppercorns. He sent it back.
My wife and sister-in-law had trout almandine. My wife was unimpressed, and my sister-in-law ate only half of hers.
So much for impressing guests.
I will not take anyone to La Ferme again.
Manager was very accommodating of us coming close to kitchen close and also for me reserving for the wrong date! Delicious meal, attentive staff, lovely meal and experience!
Impeccable service. Requested and provided items not on the menu and the results were superior...and this was for a Tuesday lunch. Waiters had excellent timing. They did not rush the ordering process. They allowed conversations to continue well after the dining experience.
First time trying this local place. The food and atmosphere will have us coming back.
The service, however, was not comparable with the environment this establishment appears interested in creating. The level of service varied by who was attending to the table at the time, with one seemingly interested and the other seemed more like we were doing him a favor by ordering. And while I often find the “farewells” by the host staff to be over the top on the way out the door, there was never a “please come again, have a good evening” after we paid the check.
La Ferme is truly a beautiful restaurant with wonderful service, excellent dishes, and an authentic feel of France. You will leave the restaurant feeling at peace, truly satiated and planning in your mind your next visit!
I have been here before so I knew what to expect. The place was VERY busy and we were 10 mins early. We were seated within minutes. The food was delicious.
Excellent food and atmosphere with fine wine list. Friendly attentive service and easy to have conversation.
Got sick on the Filet. My wife had the Trout which was very good. French Onion Soup good as well.
Our french country inn and go to place! Wonderful food, staff and ambiance. You can't beat the location, parking and FOOD & SERVICE! Don't forget the BEST live piano player around too!
I ordered beef tips, boiled potatoes and plain spinach. Both the beef tips and spinach (which I had specifically requested to be plain, no sauces) were quite hot spicy. I left most of it. I asked the waiter to inform the chef I didn’t like hot spice in these dishes, but I think he may not have understood because of a language barrier. I was disappointed with this visit to the restaurant. Some restaurants have chefs that use unwanted hot spices, and sometimes too much salt, but in the past that had not been a problem at La Ferme.
Lovely restaurant, wonderful service and great food.
Lunch was most enjoyable. I am 93 and I love dining at La Ferme with my friends.
Mostly traditional french food. The lunch portions were a good size and tasty. I would have liked the onion soup to have been a little stronger flavor, but it was still good and cheesy.
La Ferme is reliably excellent. Not to mention the most convenient parking in town.
LaFerme has stumbled for us in the past, but we gave it one more try and the experience was everything we look for. Good Job!
WOW!!! How the esgargot and oyster bouillabaisse appetizers were presented was novel and highly enjoyable. Preparation of lamb (rare) was perfect and seasoned exquisitely. Almost as tasty as my dover sole. There is no doubt that we will return. We will request to be placed in a quieter location. As the evening wore on, decibel level was bothersome. I believe that they will accommodate. BTW...the prices are much more reasonable then comparably rated French restaurants.
Birthday celebration with a specially presented dessert and musical accompaniment
90th birthday celebration and 61st anniversary celebration.
Always fantastic. A staple in my dining out schedule.
Escargot was unique, it was prepared with different types of mushrooms in a non-traditional serving dish - absolutely delicious! Filet mignon was cooked to perfection and the grand Mariner Souffle was perfect.
Our daughter and granddaughter were in town visiting for Labor Day. We celebrated the visit with dinner at La Ferme as it had been 4 years since we last dined there before we moved out of the area. The service was superb (thanks Pino) and the food outstanding! Our granddaughter touched the hot souffle when served and the attendant quickly brought her and ice bath to soak her hand. She was fine but his prompt attention helped tremendously.
The completion of the experience was the Monday evening music. Our inquisitive granddaughter walked over to check out the piano in between songs and the pianist could not have been nicer to her.
We highly recommend La Ferme for an exceptional culinary experience and if you go on Monday's, the singer and pianist will provide you with songs to enjoy your visit.
Order your soufflé as you order your entree! Fine fare, great service and gracious hospitality.
As usual, excellent food and excellent service. Surprisingly the restaurant was quite a bit noisier than in past visits but the dining room was also almost full.
