No charge, no valet.
We dine here a couple of times a year and are always impressed. I think they were overwhelmed this night and no one came over for a half hour. In fact it took my complaining to our waitress after she went to the table next to us who came in after us. It took another waiter to intervene. He gave us excellent service and comped our bottle of wine.
We have been to the restaurant several times and enjoy meeting friends for drinks in the bar at the back. The staff are very friendly. On this occasion we were going for valentines dinner with two other couples. We booked a few weeks in advance and requested a table downstairs near the fireplace. The night of, we planned to meet early with a different couple for a pre-dinner drink in the bar before our reservation. We had a great time. When it was time to go to our table we were led upstairs to a very crowded room where we waited a long time for anyone to greet us and give us menus, longer still to put in a drink order. One of the men in the party went down to ask why we weren’t seated downstairs and to see if we could be moved. The man he spoke to (manager?) said that someone had phoned us in advance to say we would be upstairs, but they had not. After waiting a long time for the food to arrive the same person went back down to see what the delay was, and that same manager insisted rudely that we had not been waiting long, that we had been late for our reservation- going to the table at 7:35 for our 7:30 reservation-and then he said “typical Irish, in the bar drinking”. We realize that a night like that is going to be crowded. We also realize that lots of customers likely requested a table near the fireplace and that the food service might be a bit slower than a regular night. The food was good, but the attitude of the manager was so offensive that if not for a great staff I would give no stars
Lovely and romantic ambience, Valentine's dinner excellent and good value
Valentine's dinner became a luncheon event. We were accommodated and all went well. We always enjoy Le Ferme.
It was fine as it always is on Valentine’s day
Terrible service, but the ambiance is nice, especially when the piano player is there. The food is not exceptional, but some dishes, like the soufflé and escargot are consistently very good.
Service was really slow and the French onion soup was served warm, not hot, although the soup temperature was remedied. I wanted a special brunch and unfortunately the lag time was distracting.
Our favorite place wonderful ambience food & service
Well worth the drive from Clarksburg to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. First time to this restaurant. Great food, great ambiance, good location with plenty of parking -- and considering the quality of the food and the whole experience, it was also a good value. I look forward to my next visit.
It was a very nice place with good food. Though I think my group and I were the youngest people there (late 30’s early 40’s). Service was ok.
La Ferme restaurant is in a residential area. It appears to be what I imagine as a French country inn. The dining room is open yet there are alcoves. Our table for two was in a small alcove but we could see the entire dining room. White linen tablecloth, napkins. Comfortable chairs and couch seating. On this Saturday there was very nice live piano music. Our meal was excellent all around: champagne, wine, appetizers and entree's. My wife received a birthday candle on her dessert. Listening to many Happy Birthday songs, it's clear this is a special occasion place and a neighborhood gem. Highly recommended.
There is plenty of parking onsite.
LaFerme is always Delicious! Great staff and wonderful ambiance!
Quiet, unhurried, fine quality, excellent food. A bit old-fashioned in the best sense. Blazing fire, warm lighting on a cold night.
Delicious food, wonderful ambiance, great service.
We loved it. Delightful lunch and special birthday. Food was pleasantly served. Warm French bread. Appreciated the parking g lot too!
This is a wonderful classic French country restaurant. The food is very good and the service is excellent. What really makes this restaurant is its ambiance. Even though it is in suburban Chevy Chase, you feel like you have stepped into a provincial French town to have a relaxing meal. If you want an excellent French meal, in a quiet atmosphere, where you can talk, this is the restaurant for you.
Veal scallopini was not good. The room was cold everyone was eating with a coat on. The restaurant is tired with below average food.
The meal was just perfect! The sweetbreads were so fresh and tender, such a treat. The soufflé was decadently delicious. Service attentive yet unobtrusive. Can’t wait to return!
I was very disappointed in the Restaiurant. We had asked for the balcony and was told a large party of 16 people was going to be upstairs in the balcony, but they never came
The food was good, but very small portions for the price. The service was terrible even though I did give a good tip. The last time we came two years ago, it wasn't very good, but thought it would get better. We will not come again to this restaurant. I'm done now
A took a friend there to celebrate her birthday, as she loves it. Food and ambience were good but service was disappointing.
Celebrated my DiL's 30th birthday. The food was amazing, as always, and the service was just right. Ambiance makes you want to move in and stay. Prices are high, so you basically get what you pay for at La Ferme!
Everything about La Ferme consistently pleases. The food, service and ambience are always reliable, whether for a special occasion in the main dining room or a casual drop in at the bar. The do I g experience is always delightful.
Lovely long lunch with friends. Love this restaurant and is a Washington institution! So fine,

Snowy Saturday night turned into a great dining experience at La Ferme restaurant. Three expertly crafted Grey Goose vodka martinis very dry, cold, lemon rind and two olives. My salad was an excellent Belgian endive salad with walnuts and bleu cheese, entrée, tasty roasted quail with well seasoned vegetables. Waiter recommended a read to compliment my meal and I topped of the evening with a double espresso. magnificent.
We really enjoyed La Ferme a few years ago for a Mother’s Day brunch. Celebrating a birthday, we returned. But now parents of a 19mo, we were surprised how child unfriendly they were.
They have no high chairs. They have no kids menu. They have no drink cups for kids.
The staff seemed mildly annoyed by our (actually very well behaved) little one. We won’t be going back for a few years.
Food and service were both excellent!!
Really a wonderful place. Went there for my birthday: excellent service, authentic food, great for conversation, elegant and yet cozy. Classic French cuisine, well presented but without being stuffy.
Not great but good
Excellent presentation and cuisine . The service was slow. I ordered a soufflé when I ordered my meal and it took over 25 minutes after we had finished our meal. It was excellent but a little frustrating.
Excellent experience as always. The food was first rate and the service was impeccable. It is nice to have such a great place to enjoy an excellent meal and sit and visit with friends.
Wonderful food and drink. Highly recommended for ambiance .
Awesome everything. Excellent for food and meaningful conversation. Wait staff superb.
Perfect for Special occasions. Max 8 folks
The food was excellent. Service was generally good but I guess I really hate it when a water glass is empty and that’s all I’m drinking.
Delicious food. Happened to be very busy so very slow service because overwhelmed.
Quality restaurant with exceptional wait staff. They have a good variety of meat and seafood entrees.
We have been to La Ferme a number of times in prior years and always had very good food and service. This time was different. The food was good but not up to its prior standard. The service seemed distracted and there was too much noise from service preparation near our table. Maybe they were having an off night.
Lovely place to celebrate early New Years.
We've been patronizing La Ferme for 30-40 years, but the last couple of times there we have been extremely disappointed. The other night we took 7 people to dinner there (including visitors from overseas) and were very embarrassed by the quality of the food and service. The caeser salad was drowning in dressing, the oyster soup my friend had was so salty she couldn't eat it and had to be redone by the chef, the liver was dreadful, the trout almondine was totally tasteless, and even the (very expensive) Dover sole was not up to par. Besides this, we never really knew who our waiter was because they kept changing, and the pianist was pleasant but pretty bad. We've always loved the atmosphere of La Ferme (cozy and romantic), but for what we paid there we could have gone to any high-scale restaurant in the area.
We look forward to an elegant meal in a quiet, unhurried space with a fire and a quiet piano playing in the background. Lovely wine, tasty salad, fine food - half a lobster fricassee with seafood risotto.
Very French, very good food, very charming, "in place"
