About La Famiglia Ristorante
The Sena family tradition of culinary excellence dates back to early 1947 when Carlo “Papa” Sena began to cook in postwar Naples. The family carried this experience across the Atlantic and opened La Famiglia in 1976 in the shell of a Colonial tea warehouse. Today, La Famiglia stands as the finest Italian restaurant in Philadelphia and a major landmark on the city’s vibrant restaurant scene.

La Famiglia Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Four of us went there for their Summer Nostalgia Lunch Menu. We had 12 courses between us, and all were excellent. Especially good were the Pasta Carbonara and the Fried Calamari and the Gnocchi. Great wine list and excellent attentive and knowledgable service.
Reserved a table for my son's birthday.
We were sat in the. Wine cellar area where unfortunately there was an extremely loud table next to us. The waiter was awful. He did not give us the full dinner menu until we asked if what he gave us was the menu. He seemed surprised it was 7 pm ?!
I requested another table upstairs and after a bout 20 minutes we were moved. The mediocre service continued. The food. nothing special. I would not recommend or return.
At first we were escorted upstairs. No ambiance and we did have reservations and we were on time. Almost decided to
Leave but glad we stayed and we had little table in corner on first floor. Food was awesome would go back again but would specify first floor.
Excellent food, with great service. Attention was paid to the little details that made the evening very memorable. Had a very pleasant conversation with Giuseppe Sena (one of the owners) who took time out to speak with us about an upcoming trip to southern Italy. Would recommend this restaurant for dining at its finest.
An overall wonderful upscale dining experience. Great atmosphere, delicious food and incredible service. We were celebrating our Anniversary. We were given a special table in front of the fireplace. The waiter was friendly, personable and very attentive.
We were treated to after dinner drinks and dessert. We met the owner and had a lovely conversation. A perfect way to end the evening.
Third time this summer! Lunch is a little less noisy, so it's super relaxing. And noise is mostly from the guests laughing and chatting. The restaurant music is softly classical and easy listening music.
Such an enjoyable date with my husband. We love how a beautiful silver cart is rolled out onto the floor with gorgeous silverware and entrees to be served - instead of a clumsy tray each time a tables food is ready. So elegant. So Italian.
Food of course is fabulous. Super delicious and impeccable service by the waitstaff.
We went for their Nostalgia promotion and had the opportunity among the four of us to cover a wide range of the menu including dessert. Everything was delicious and service was very attentive. Overall ambiance is lovely; however the dining room as rather noisy.
We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and always consistently fabulous. They are offering a "Nostalgia" Menu so we thought we would try it! It is on Mondays and Tuesdays over the Summer and they had a great crowd. We had reservations for 3 - there were many tables open on the main floor but they took us to the "wine cellar" which was lovely but freezing cold and not a sole was there. We asked if we could be seated upstairs and they immediately accommodated us. The owner checked on everyone off and on to be sure everyone was happy(always a nice thing to see) and the service is top notch! The Nostalgia menu was very nice and everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks!
The best in Philly! Excellent meal, best service I've ever received anywhere. For open table diners, they actually pay attention to what your preferences are. The entire staff treated us like we were guests of honor. From the moment you walk in until you are leaving satisfied, the experience it is well worth the price!
My wife and I drove from Bala Cynwyd area to eat lunch there. The experience was WONDERFUL, as good as the best restaurants we've experienced in Italy in our six trips to that special county. Great food, attentive service, quiet in the dining area, shown by special request the wine cellar in the basement...just a special experience. We will return there soon!!
I like this place so much. It reminds me of days gone by. Days when servers were super polite and attentive. My daughter and I had a mother / daughter date tonight and she wanted to come here because of the delicious food , extraordinary service and a quiet place to talk. All restaurants should be like this place. Grade A plus. Thank you. We will return soon. Summer time is the best time too because of the roll back menu.
Went during the throwback menu pricing. Sat on the 2ND floor, and it's beautiful. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The best items were the pesto gnocchi and anything with calamari. The tomato sauce dishes were great too. Bartender makes a good Manhattan.
Went to the 41st or 42 nd Anniversary party menu. They roll back the prices to 1976 and the portions are rolled back too ! It is three courses so we were very satisfied. Be careful the desert cart that comes over is not included in the deal. Had a nice time and will go again.
We had never been to LaFamiglia and went for the summer roll back special. We were pleasantly surprised at the large and varied selection for the special. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 pastas and 2 veal dishes. All were delicious and the service friendly and excellent.
While we chose the restaurant based on their roll back special, we dine in the city quite often and wouldn't hesitate to return to order from their traditional menu ! We recommend this enjoyable experience.
