La Famiglia Ristorante
La Famiglia remains your classic old-school formal restaurant, compete with waiters in suits, a deluxe interior and a multi-tier dessert cart. The service is professional and the food is well prepared. Prices are on the high side, but that's what you should expect at this caliber of a restaurant.
I have been to La Famiglia many time in the Past . This Restaurant is one of the Best Italian in the City .
The Pasta was great and Try the Veal Its the Best in the City !!! (Some Line as in the Godfather )
Classic modern Italian fine dining that’s not to be missed as big part of the fabric of the Philadelphia dining scene.
This is one of my favorite places for special occasions. Truly homemade and delicious food with impeccable service. It’s never disappointing.
La Famiglia has a great vibe , as well as , phenomenal food and service. Check it out !!
La Famiglia does not disappoint! Made the reservations as mentors were in town, and needed a good restaurant that was not too busy but still offered a great experience. It’s been years since I was at the restaurant for restaurant week, but I had good memories.
From the moment we arrived, till we recovered our coats, everyone truly enjoyed themselves. The food was great (I did not enjoy the pheasant ragu) and dessert ... was DELICIOUS. Even more the wine list will not disappoint. I hope to come back for a wine event. Either way, do yourself a favor, enjoy this gem in Penn’s Landing! You will not be disappointed.
If you need some old school Italian food, service, and ambiance, they have all you need and more. The wine list can bring the strongest man to his knees.
We came with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday and we could not have chosen a better restaurant, the entire experience was excellent. We will be making this a regular restaurant and especially for celebrations to allow more people to experience La Famiglia Ristorante perfection.
Food was excellent as was service. Dessert was delicious but overpriced.
This restaurant never disappoints. The service and the quality of food are beyond what anyone could expect.
The owner is not friendly but the staff is incredible. They pay attention to every detail, remember your special requests and make everyone feel welcomed.
The food was very good and a good value for restaurant week lunch! First course pasta was nice portion and delicious. Second course I had the sole, which you don’t see on menus very often! Dessert was the right size after a large lunch.
The service was a little slow and disorganized, but I think it was because a large porous of about 9 or 10 came in at the same time as we did.
Enjoyed our night for restaurant week, good service and the noise level wasn’t terrible! I’m a sweet white wine person so not many choices for me but the Riesling was fine !
Great experience/food and a value due to restaurant week...
There isn't time or space to write all the wonderful things to say about this restaurant.
I just want to say if you ever get a chance go there.
What I should have said was make time and go there.
It is the place where once there you will go back again and again and again.
Service was excellent and the food superb.
It was restaurant week and the special menu had very attractive offerings. The food and service and setting were excellent. We plan to return soon for their regular menu.
Another excellent meal and experience at La Famiglia!! Birthday celebration with family. The service was impeccable as always and the food was absolutely perfect!! Can’t wait until our next visit!!
The gnocchi was so tender it was my favorite part but all the food was really good! Staff was kind and attentive. Was a beautiful aroma!
For our group of 7 neighbors it was a memorable evening. The staff was attentive, the restaurant week menu was appealing, and the service was impeccable. We look forward to returning to La Famiglia soon.
My daughter and I dined on a Sunday during Restaurant Week. I ordered a $12 Toki Can cocktail from the Restaurant Week menu, which was satisfactory but had a lot of ice. We were served a few slices of Italian bread and one sliced grainy dinner roll, along with a rosette of butter, immediately. We were also brought a refill on the bread as we waited for our appetizers. My daughter chose the Gnocchi Formaggi and I the GranFusilli Bolognese. Both were delicious. For entree, my daughter chose the Veal Con Proscuitto and I chose the Valuetto di Manzo (beef tenderloin). Both were served over a very small bed of broccoli and carrots. The entrees were good, but not as delicious as the appetizers. The entrees would have benefited from a side dish such a risotto or some type of potato. For dessert, three finger-size pastries were presented: a lemon bar, a drop of chocolate sponge with mocha buttercream, and a drop of nut sponge with a banana and some drizzle. The service was outstanding. Our water was consistently topped off, our food was served expeditiously, and all the staff were friendly and extremely attentive.
I went here with one other person during restaurant week, we were in the main dining area right as you walk in. We were seated quickly and there were a couple open tables as we arrived for an 8:00pm dinner. It didn't seem very busy. We ordered from the restaurant week menu. The options varied nicely to get what you want. We wanted to get a bottle of wine for the table so they gave us this enormous binder of wine, a very extensive wine selection, but the price point on those bottles were a little more than we were looking for, after a couple times asking they did show us a smaller wine list with more reasonably priced wine. The food came out quickly however, it was just good, nothing to write home about, nothing special. from starters to dessert. The ambiance is great, the decor looks great. The service was mediocre, wasn't really sure who our server was so, didn't know who really to ask for anything. Once we were finished, and everything was cleared, bottle was empty, there was no one to be found to get the check, after a while when one of our waiters walked by, I was able to flag him down to get the check. I wouldn't really recommend this place, there are a TON of Italian restaurants in Philly. There's quite a few spots with a better quality of everything.
The food was delicious; homemade gnocchi was light and fluffy. The desserts were fresh and provided great variety. The service was just ok. The server was not very personable and seemed to be elsewhere mentally. Overall, would recommend for a romantic dinner out. Dress up a little bit and enjoy the ambiance.
We shall return. It was restaurant week and we didn’t even know it.
What a beautiful, romantic restaurant with impeccable service. We had an amazing wait staff and really enjoyed our dinner. We came for restaurant week and really enjoyed it. The only disappointment was the restaurant week dessert menu. You just got a sample of 3 tiny items, and they were just OK.
Amazing scenery and great food. Staff was extremely caring and friendly. My wife and I will be attending again!
Went to take advantage of the restaurant week pricing. The food was good. I do think a little overpriced. Didn’t like the fact that they charged you to refill iced tea. It was $3 per glass. They didn’t have that stated. I think at a hi end restaurant it was just annoying.
Food was fantastic, great service, will definitely be back soon!
Seems like it is getting better with age.
La Famiglia is one of the finest Italian restaurants in Philadelphia. We will be going back soon.
The food was excellent as was the service. Was there for restaurant week and now want to go back and try more stuff on their menu.
Restaurant week lunch was great. Pasta was light but filling, veal nicely prepared, mini desserts outstanding.
The food was good. They cleaned up after each course which I thought was awesome. Everything tasted really good.
This is absolutely the best Italian food in Philadelphia, and one of the best restaurants overall. Fabulous wines even by the glass. They accommodate for food issue you may have and nothing is ever a problems. The most delicious pasta, homemade and cooked to perfection. Truly an amazing dinner, Always!
As expected, portions are smaller because it was restaurant week. A little disappointing was the fact that we weren't even offered a regular menu, so we felt like we couldn't order anything else. Service was great and the food we did have was delicious! Would love to try when it's not restaurant week!
Simply amazing, delicious authentic food and outstanding service!
There were 9 of us. All but 2 of us were happy with dinner. We wee disappointed that our Dover sole tasted frozen. Too busy. Nice restaurant
Great food and service, the winning combo!
We went here to celebrate our anniversary, and we couldn't have chosen a better place. Stellar service coupled with outstanding food made our evening absolutely perfect!
La Famiglia continues its tradition of excellence and elegance. This is THE BEST restaurant in Philadelphia. Even on one of the busiest nights of the year, New Years Eve, the service was impeccable. Our table was ready at our reservation time, we were not rushed and the waitstaff was extremely polished and attentive without being hovering. The food was over-the-top fantastic. The langostino special appetizer was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We had the rib eye for two and it was a perfect medium rare, even after being sliced table side. The wine selection is peerless in this City. I recommend deferring to the extremely knowledgeable staff to select a bottle of the varietal of your choosing at your price range because the wine list is so extensive. I don't know how they do it considering how other fine dining establishments fall short in some way while La Famiglia consistently sets a standard to which few other restaurants in this country even come close and none surpass.
Avoid on the holiday. With a reservation we waited 30 minutes. Never even had our drinks refilled. They were in the weeds and just couldn’t get ahead.
