What Insiders Are Saying
We like the fresh Mexican food here just as much as La Esquina on the street, but we love the Nolita brasserie because it makes us want to drink.
Great vibe in this restaurant. Food and service top notch!
Food was ok but not out of this world. Pork belly was 3/4 fat. People on the next table were completely inappropriate, lap dancing, touching each other in a very intimate way and none of the waiters told them anything. They were so invasive of other people’s space I ended up receiving more than one hit from the girls elbow.
Girlfriends from the east and west coast catching up from the US and Canada. Celebrating an engagement, divorce and first getaway from the baby! Loved the ambiance, music, service! Super cool experience for all!
The evening was very nice until we where about to leave the restaurant. Me and my wife are tourist and we did not have access to internet. The rain was poring and we wanted to order an Uber. I therefore asked the man at the door on the street level if I could have the wife-code to the "La Esquina guest" wifi login. He said no and had no interest in helping us. I have never spent 250 dollars for a dinner for two and been denied the possibility to order a cab. A very sad ending of an otherwise nice evening.
We absolutely loved our experience! Food was amazing, atmosphere was awesome, staff was attentive and kind! We would highly recommend to all!
Cool speak easy/bar/dining area in the basement. Lively music with excellent desserts and drinks.
Good food and ambiance, I would recommend it for a night our with friends.
They were a little late getting started the evening we went but it was worth the wait.
Poor service. While not yet finished drinks (probably we would order another round) we were asked if we wanted anything more. We said not right now so they brought us the bill!! It was not a busy time at the restaurant (23:45). They did exactly the same to the guys next table.
Good mexicain good, good drinks ! Ambience is really cool
Simply awesome !!!
Never fails. Great every time.
One of my favorites when we are in town. Thos was our first time bringing our kids which turned out to be totally fine. We highly recommend it!
Very cool ambiance and very tasty food. The prices are a bit dear for the food portions and drinks.
Amazing food and great atmosphere!
Great place overall but had to wait 40 min for the table that was booked for 8pm, seated at 8.40.
Great restaurant and atmosphere! We had to wait for our table for one hour, got at least two free drinks while waiting. When we finally got the table food was great und service really quick. Prices are totally fine for NYC.
Great food. cool vibe but loud. Very glad we got reservations!
What a great spot! Loved the vibe/service/food!
Really good- exactly the same as the upstairs but with a cooler, speakeasy vibe
Awesome place. Great ambiance, great vibe. The food and drinks were top notch and our server was very attentive and nice. Had a great time and can't wait to return!
Great, casual, spot for a relaxed business dinner. It’s very disappointing that they don’t serve guacamole!
It was a really nice experience and we loved the atmosphere and the amazing food. Would recommend!
Staff was rushed
Our waitress was way pushy, it was cool to go down into a basement. Food was good, but super loud
Good food. Great atmosphere. A little expensive. Service seemed focused on rushing is through our meal.
Food fairly good and fairly fresh. You come here for the ambience and the experience. Not necessarily the food
The place is really cool and staff are very friendly, but I expected more from the food, having visited Mexico I was hoping it to be at its level, but it wasn’t. Still, the place is very cool and nice for a date or for a friend’s night.
Gran sitio e inesperado en New York!! Cenamos de maravilla y con ambientazo
Our waitress simply disappeared. I ‘d to m get up to find somebody to help us with the bill.
Ambiance was great. Dim lighting, great pieces of art. The Elote and drinks were our favorite.
Elote- our favorite!
Carnitas Tostada- chip size tostada :(
Aguachile de Camarón -it’s Red sauce not Green**
I was shocked to see how small the tostadas were and didn’t like the fact that there was watermelon part of the dish. It’s more of an appetizer size. IMO
Worst food experience ever! The waitress recommended the special of the day, but guess it was only to get rid of old food. The taste and feeling was like eating really old meat that should have been thrown away long time ago! Definitely not worth a visit!
La Esquina is definitely one of the coolest restaurants in the city — you access it through a steel door in the taqueria upstairs, go down a staircase and then are led through the kitchen into its underground lair. You feel like you're part of the "in-the-know" crowd, which is always lively. The service is friendly and efficient — you usually have to book well in advance, so they make sure to get tables in and out, but without making you feel rushed — and the food is fantastic. You HAVE to get the elotes callejeros (street corn) street corn (and, let's face it, a margarita of course). The chamorro (slow-roasted pork shank) is fall-off-the-bone delicious (and huge). MMM.
Staff is first rate - waiter amazing....food is crazy good-dig this place.
Michelle was Amazing! Great service! She knows her stuff! We had an awesome time!
Food was excellent but noise level and closeness of tables distracted from the experience.
Always a big fan.
The chicken mole is delicious. Fantastic tapas, good for a date or a big group
LOVED The atmosphere so much!!!!! Music was amazing the whole night
