La Dolce Vita of Belmar Ratings and Reviews
Atmosphere and location are amazing. That's where the positive part of this review ends. We did go on New Years Eve.. so I fully understand the restaurant life and that it's a high order to have a successful dinner on such a high volume day. It was a limited menu which is to be expected and we were a party of 6.. from the filet mignon to the scallops, mashed potatoes, seafood ravioli and everything else we ordered nothing was great.. or even good. Extremely disappointed as we had all always wanted to try this restaurant but it was an epic fail. One of the members of our group couldn't even eat half of her meal because it was that bad. Besides the food being awful.. our service was worse. Our server was an older Italian man with a strong accent. I was excited for his authentic accent but he was just a mean old cranky man. I know he probably didn't feel like working on NYE but I felt like we got the brunt of his anger. Telling us to enjoy the bread because we aren't getting anymore since they ran out. Refusing to allow me to have any sort of steak sauce with a major attitude for even asking. Ignored drink requests that never ended up being fullfilled and just overall nasty behavior including complaining when one of my friends had some crumbs on the table agter clearing our plates and he asks if she's ever been allowed out to eat before. Very disappointing last meal of 2017 but thankfully we know and will not waste our money going there in the future.
Here for Mothers Day and Christmas Eve for dinner. Very busy both times. Mother Day experience much better.
Seated long time before drink orders were taken. One drink order of 7 was made incorrectly twice.
2 Fried buff mozzarella apps cold inside.
Dinners were all good and hot.
Overall, since such busy day, stations should have had two servers per as there were many large parties and wait staff stretched too thin. We will go back though because the food is very good. Cold apps unusual.
Good food, but WAY too cramped. We went for Christmas Eve dinner, so we had a family group with a member who uses a walker. It didn't fit between the tables, and when he got up, he had to disturb all the other diners around us. The people at the next table also had a handicapped person with them, and they had the same issue. A family a few tables over had two screaming little girls. The tables are so densely packed together that it sounded as if they were crying at our table. Maybe it isn't like that on regular days, but there are lots of other places to eat where I don't have to feel like the lady at the next table is sitting on my lap.
We had a fabulous meal. I had the seafood risotto. My wife had the home made fettuccine shrimp dish, both excellent. Galina, our server was outstanding and very friendly. Our bottle of wine was very good Argentina Malbec. Our only complaint was the noise level. It was very hard to hear but didn't put too big of a crimp on our evening.
The restaurant is excellent. Our reservations were honored exactly on time. Service was good and our waiter was very attentive. We has a caesar salad which was big enough for two.We also had the shrimp scampi over risotto which was very good with 6 large shrimp. The veal parm was such a large portion I took half of it home. I asked them to subsitute on my pasta oil.garlic and anchovies instead of marinara sauce which was no problem with only a slight upcharge. We didn't have desert but we did did have expresso and cappachino which finished off a delicious meal. Can't wait to go back.
My wife and I were not pleased having to wait over30 minutes for a table with a reservation. The food was good as usual, but the noise level was terrible. Trying to talk to one another we had to repeat our comments because people were so loud. Would return during the week not on Saturday night.
We had a party of eight and we made a reservation. We were seated promptly. The waiter was very friendly and got all the orders correct. The food was definitely the star of the evening. Everyone of us really enjoyed our meals. Everything was fresh, the combination of flavors were amazing and the portion sizes were perfect. We all agreed we will definitely be back.
This is a pretty good restaurant and has always been one of my local favorites. This time was not as good and hopefully I just caught them on a bad night. They stuck us in the corner in the front patio room and we felt like an afterthought. There were a ton of fruit flies (fruit fly traps in every corner). When we arrived that room was just being set up to be used, so we were one of the first tables in there. 1 hour later, the room was filled, and everyone else had their dinners. We had our salad already and had been waiting. Our meals then came cold. They obviously forgot about us in the corner. My steak was excellent and so was my daughters scallops. My Wife's Crab Cake meal was just too cold to judge. She did not want to send it back, I wish I would have. Anyway.... I will give this place another try. I think it was a bad night. I debated not to write this review, but decided I should let them know.
Service was right on for a Saturday night. Appetizers and entrees arrived on-time. Restaurant was crowded, but that did not impact service at all. Food for prepared perfectly and portions were generous. Only issue was noise in the indoor awning covered area that made it difficult to converse with friends at dinner.
The restaurant was located on Ocean Avenue which is beachfront and that was plenty of sidewalk tables. The menu was extensive The food was delicious The restaurant was very very crowded which is a good sign Overall we really loved it The bread basket in dipping oil’s were out of this world
Excellent service. Food always good here. Unfortunately my mashed potatoes wee very cold on an otherwise great dish. No,big deal. Wine list is varied and affordable. We had an 8:30 reservation on Open Table and were seated by 8:31. There were a ton of people waiting. We were very impressed! And we got our preferred seating area to boot.
