About La Dolce Vita - Cleveland
Welcome to La Dolce Vita Bistro - “The Sweet Life,” a restaurant and bistro created to recapture the bell-époque charm of “The Italian Drug,” opened here by Dr. Anthony Caruso in 1914. In the tradition of the great European bistros, La Dolce Vita is devoted to providing a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for everything from eight course dinners to coffee and Calvino. We strive to prepare the perfect meal, or the perfect cappuccino, and let you enjoy it at your leisure. Our pasta is cooked fresh to order, our sauces and dressing are painstakingly prepared using only the finest ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, the freshest vegetables, imported whole tomatoes, fresh basil and Italian parsley... and your table is reserved for the evening.

La Dolce Vita - Cleveland Ratings and Reviews
Had a fantastic dinner. Started with the meatball appetizer. Just enough spice without being overpowering. Chicken Parm was good, but the star of the night was the short ribs. Fantastic flavor and very tender. Best part of the night was when the owner came out twice for us to taste different pasta’s he was working on. Such a personal touch. We ended up inviting him to sit our table for a bit to chat. Really reminded me of the good ole days when people would really talk to each other.
We got off to a bad start because we were squeezed into a tiny table for 4, even though our reservation was for 5. One person in our party had to stand up and move 3 different times to allow movements of tables and other people. Another of our party was smashed against the wall and couldn't move. The food was just ok. After I saw the reviews, I expected a fine dinner. I ordered the eggplant and it was bland. The waitress talked me into a side of pasta with it which also was rather bland and added $10 to the price. The marinara was not very flavorful. My daughter ordered the veal dish which she said was very good. We asked for more bread but never got it. On a positive note, the decor is eclectic and had some pretty lights for Christmas. The tables had linen table cloths and our water glasses were kept full. The manager came around with a cream pasta which he served to everyone. It was actually the best thing that I had. Overall our experience was disappointing for the price that we paid.
One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in years!! I am half Italian and grew up with a grandmother who cooked the best Italian food on the planet, so I am extremely picky about Italian food and actually rarely go out to eat at an Italian restaurant. La Dolce Vita stands out! I ordered a chicken dish that came with pasta. While the chicken was nothing special, the pasta was heavenly! Next time I will certainly be ordering a pasta dish! The service was outstanding. They even served up a complimentary taste of one of their pasta dishes (Cacio e pepe), a dish I may just order next time it was so good! And when we had finished our meal they brought out a plate of fresh fruit and cream, again complementary. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place to a friend and I certainly plan to get back there myself! Prices aren't the cheapest in town but well worth it for a delicious dining experience.
This is a quaint little place with great food. The owner makes you feel like family as he visits tables asking you to try various items from the kitchen. Our dinner was great...A huge delicious salad, great appetizer, and wonderful pasta dishes. And an unexpected treat...Free dessert! Yum!
The food was very good. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We waited 20-25 minutes before anyone even asked if we wanted a drink. Not sure if it was a manager who finally noticed us but to his credit he waited on our table himself and from that point the service improved. It was a busy night for outdoor dining so hopefully the lack of service inside was a reflection of that, as we enjoyed our pasta dinners and would like to return in the near future.
The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is authentic Italian and delicious. What more could you want? We had a large group for a late lunch. Our waiter handled the demands of the group with style and grace and the meal flowed seamless. Everyone enjoyed their food. The owner happened by our table and we enjoyed having a conversation with him. He made us feel like family. We will be back the next time we are in Cleveland.
Had not been here in years, wife and I went for a relaxed casual anniversary dinner. Weather was perfect, Sat outside, Service was prompt and attentive, food was tasty and well portioned, Terry the owner stopped by the table, always the consummate host!
Just a wonderful experience.
