I think I had the last meal before the corona-virus shut down La Dolce Vita. I was celebrating my birthday, so it was a special day. The restaurant only had one other booth occupied. So the noise level was almost too quiet and the service almost too attentive. I almost cancelled my reservation because of corona-virus concerns. So the fact that I came in contact with few people actually eliminated stress and made me glad I had not cancelled. The food was everything I expected. I am looking forward to returning with friends and family once the health emergency ends.
It was a wonderful dinner, and wonderful experience. Very old school, but delicious and fun none the less. Would recommend it if you want an intimate, quiet dinner, and good food.
Our server Jose and his assistants were extremely friendly and all provided great service.
Always love La Dolce Vita, especially on a week night. The drinks are always amazing and the food this time was particularly good and flavorful Also, these guys are top notch when it comes to service!
I love the food! I keep coming back here for so many dishes I love, but last night I tried the pesto pasta for the first time and thought it was absolutely delicious! I usually get the chicken parmigiana or the Sinatra Steak both are amazing. And love the Caesar salad, I almost always start with that. I love the romantic and relaxing atmosphere. The service was great and fast as always!
Pre theater choice. Old style Italian still a good choice
The Caprese salad was outstanding! Good Veal Parm, too.
We needed to increase our party from 2 to 3 over the Valentines Day/Presidents Day weekend and calling a day ahead of time we were accommodated. We were taken to our table directly. My martini was very good and hot rolls were promptly delivered. The Caesar Salad was shared by all and was excellent. Our veal dishes and chicken dishes were good. Both the Tiramisu and Chocolate Cake desserts were delicious. The service was attentive despite the large Holiday crowd. We knew the price would be expensive up front. We would definitely return for another Special Occasion.
We had a lovely family meal and the service was excellent
Valentines dinner was nice once a year trip to La Dolce Vita our server started out very attentive but after his other tables started to show up he basically forgotten about us we had to wait to get our dessert and for our check that was a set menu with the gratuity added to the total so it was a great night with good food and a somber ending. I will defiantly go back to La Dolce Vita because I love the history and the ambiance of the restaurant
We went for Valentine's Day dinner, and were very pleased with everything. The service is perfect and friendly.
We had Branzino cooked superbly. The dessert assortment was a perfect end to our meal. I highly recommend La Dolce Vita.
It will be great if we have more choices and know the price before ordering.
Absolutely incredible food, people and atmosphere
If you want to eat like Sinatra and hang with the pack, this is a great place! Unapologetically old school, this is the kind of place you'd see in Vegas, but it is actually old and authentic. The room has comfy booths set in a low amber light for great ambiance, waitstaff is dressed neatly in jackets & ties and the food is perfectly prepared old school tasty Italian that we all crave. I love this place!
The Calamari is amazing, very dark and romantic setting, amazing Italian food, highly recommend for a date night!
Always a hit. This restaurant is such a classic throwback to the Rat Pack era and it holds its charm extremely well. From the dark, red leather boothed interior, to the choices of music, outstanding service and delicious food...this is a must!
Wonderful experience, we would eat there every time we visit LA if we could.
Excellent in every way. The food, service are excellent. Love the chopped salad. Carpaccio is also excellent as a starter. Have had many of their pastas and meat dishes. Can recommend them all. Never had a bad meal here. I especially love the ambience here. It has the look and feel of an old fashioned Italian restaurant.
Staff couldn’t be nicer. Ambiance great. Food was a bit mediocre for the price.
Intimate and warm. Service was excellent and food was brilliant.
First visit in all the years we traveled to LA. Service was excellent and meal was fantastic.
A+ the best! The cast from Saturday Night Live, Colin Jost, Michael Che and several others were seated two tables over from us. Great night with delicious food. Love the ambiance.
Disappointing. In my view, La Dolce Vita is not even in the top 20 Italian restaurants in the Los Angeles area. The food was mediocre. It was plated well and the correct temperature. But the flavors were missing.
Service became indifferent after our party of four did not order alcohol. The valet parking attendant gave a higher level of service than the wait staff.
I have dined at this restaurant scores of times over the years. It is excellent .
Loved it. We didn't know the history but La Dolce Vita stands on its own merits.
Great food. Great Service. Love the vibe of an old school Italian American restaurant.
Meatballs might have been a little overcooked.
Always love dining at Dolce — the staff is wonderful, the food is exquisite, and the atmosphere can’t be beat!
Great ambience but the price is too much. Tried the Christmas menu but was not happy with the chicken
La Doce Vida is a restaurant you go to for nostalgia and the cozy ambiance. Christmas Eve is NOT the time. Quite noisy with large parties, which we should have anticipated. The personnel is all wonderful and welcoming and very appreciative of customers' patronage. Would return at a more peaceful time, as this is how we remember the restaurant. The food, for a prix fixe menu, was good but not outstanding and quite limited as far as choice was concerned: four starters, four entrees and two desserts. Excellent value, however, for this type of offering.
The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was perfect, and the food was so tasty. Took my wife for a birthday dinner on Christmas Eve. Their special menu for the night was just right, we were even greeted with champagne to toast to the holiday. It was cool to eat at an iconic restaurant and not feel like it was touristy at all!
First time visiting this super local restaurant, and we loved it!!! Perfect Italian food that satisfied our whole family. We had the calamari, chopped salad, mozzarella marinara, spaghetti and meatballs, veal, and NY steak. Everything was delicious! And the service was just as great. We will definitely be back often.
Never disappoints. Food and service hard to beat. A great traditional icon of Los Angeles
