La Défense is a French bistro located in Downtown Brooklyn (Metrotech Center). We pride ourselves on our fresh ingredients, and on the originality of our menu. We open all day, starting with breakfast, for which you can sit down or simply grab from our bakery. Our lunch is delicious and fast paced, we understand you need to get back to the office! Happy hour is always lively and we offer great drink specials. A tablecloth and candle on every table makes dinner romantic. Daily specials by our French chef rounds off our seasonal menu. On milder days, the terrace is inviting and peaceful, perfect for al fresco breakfast, lunch or dinner, or simply for a few drinks with your friends. Inside, a massive horseshoe bar is the perfect spot for cocktails and socializing. A main family style dinner table accommodates large groups.

It was not a good place to go for a business coffee.
The service was very slow considering there were only a few tables occupied. Their brunch is much better than their dinner. Flavoring was flat.
Way too loud and no acoustic treatment. Not a place to take a business client. Food acceptable but served on an unsanitary cutting board.
Always reliable, good service, french bistro standards executed well. Small but carefully curated wine list- hand selected by the (nearly) the ever-present Victor. We go once a week with friends, business dinner or for brunch. Simply the perfect neighborhood french joint.
The food was outstanding. The French onion soup and the beef bourguignon were about the best I’ve ever had. Great French cooking. Need better selection of wines. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We celebrated Mother's Day at La Defense. Great service and delicious food.
Coffee was cold, had to be sent back. Wouldn’t substitute vegetables for meat in crepe to accommodate dietary restriction, even for an up-charge. Ordered egg breakfast that was so undercooked it was inedible. Sent back, same thing so didn’t eat. We are not picky eaters despite it may sound this way. Eat out tons of places and this place missed the mark in almost every way. On positive it is nice inside and has outside seating.
The best service!
Tasty food, great friendly service, try the Parisienne cocktail. Very noisy & crowded after work on a Friday eve.
Ambiance was great! Niçoise salad and crepes Suzette were yummy! The Rose was perfect for our brunch. Service was impressive...I’ll defifinitely come back.
Good portion size and decent prices. Service was pretty good.
Everything was delicious.
Good location but much too noisy, indifferent food, mediocre sauces. It seems like a decent 5-7 bar. Not a very good bistro. I had overcooked, dried out fish, a lemon sauce that was the consistency of juice, tasted like it came from a bottle, mushy, overcooked zucchini drowning in an indifferent liquid and cold, below average, french fries. The servers were polite and did their best but seemed overwhelmed. Sorry La Defense but you need to up your game.
I brought some clients to this restaurant for a nice lunch meeting. I had made a reservation and our table was reserved and ready even though we arrived a few minutes early. The service was very quick and just the right amount of attentive. The food that we had was delicious and I liked that they served the sandwiches with french fries and salad instead of making you choose like most places. I would certainly come back here again and recommend to any friends in the area.
Before going to LaDefense for lunch I checked the menu on its website. I wrote my choices down, along with the price. I did not receive a menu but ordered anyway, using my notes. The first three items I attempted to order were not on the menu any longer. I then settled for the Mac n Cheese. When the bill arrived I saw that I was charged $13, not the $9.50 as on the website. My fault for not insisting on seeing a menu before I ordered but disappointed at the end result. The food was tasty. The waitress was polite and professional. I just think a restaurant should have up to date information on their website.
It was valentines day, they did not, however, notify people as they made reservations that they would be doing one fixed menu. The menu was 75 a person and FAR from worth that. Not to mention despite this high menu night they did not close the bar, so ten feet from our valentines dinner was a drunken loud screaming mess of people. The waitress of this "fine French restaurant" thought balsamic for bread was balsamic vinaigrette the salad dressing.... when it came time to pay they finally inform us that their wifi is down and they are cash only. I don't know if they were attempting an IRS scam, but expecting everyone to come in and spend nearly 200 dollars right away and have it in cash- and not tell them till the end is an awful business. I hope they do something to rectify my opinion but I highly doubt it as the manager would not even stop by our table to discuss the issues. 0 STARS
The food was nice and hot and portion sizes were great. Thoroughly enjoyed our night
After waiting for a host, the Bartender showed us to a table. The waiter came by and was either wasted or didn’t speak English. We asked for the special and the waiter told us it probably doesn’t exist anymore, but he’ll check the kitchen. We waited 30 minutes before getting up a leaving.
The staff were so accommodating and nice and swift! Some lunch entree's seemed cold/not fresh (steak), while one seemed a little unseasoned (quinoa salad); the desserts and coffee were exceptional.
Had a very nice holiday lunch out here with colleagues. The food was good overall, and the service was friendly and efficient while remaining unobtrusive. My apple tart was not great, but the quiches and salads we all had were very good. My only complaint was the noise -- music and conversation reverberated off the walls loudly enough to put a damper on our meal.
Everyone and everything was perfect.
The food and service was great! We will definitely be back.
From the brunch menu, we had pancakes which was great; eggs Benedict with salmon was equally great. I don’t recommend the chorizo casolette which I had. I tried to rescue the taste with a little bit more salt but to no avail. I am used to chorizos that are tasty in themselves. Service was great though.
Delicious French food!!!!
It felt like home (I am French)!
And everyone was really attentive and nice.
Wine was amazing too.
I was also surprised by great live music.
Apparently they have it Saturday night and Sunday for brunch and dinner.
We had a really beautiful evening :)
I' ll definitely recommend it!
Wanted to try this place for ages. Weekends are quiet as it’s in a business district and busy on week days. Service is welcoming and friendly. Waiter patiently explained the menu and offered recommendations. Crepe with goat cheese is some of the best I️ have had. Ricotta pancakes are also excellent and light. They come with delicious banana, walnuts and syrup. Cafe viennois is flavorful and served in a generous glass with homemade whipped cream! Nutella crepe for dessert is generous, filled with fresh bananas and drizzled with just enough Nutella. This place had French rustic decor perfect for a birthday, date or friends get together.
A light, early Saturday lunch. Very friendly service, but s-l-o-w delivery of orders, odd considering only 4 tables were in service. Makes you wonder, is everything deep-frozen? Chorizo Cassolette excellent idea and well presented. Their so-called "traditional" Caesar Salad (with Chicken) was sad; large and fresh, but thin shreds of severely overdone chicken were nothing like their usual "press pictures."
Their baked goods as always were perfection, but did not need the extended microwave heating. Had to ask four times to turn the admittedly excellent choice of music down to a normal dining volume. The staff obviously enjoyed it.
A fair value for the money, but Stick to their obviously French bistro fare, and excellent baked goods.
Although OpenTable had available reservations at 9am, upon our arrival we were told the kitchen would not open until 9:15. That was not a major problem however when the waiter came by to take our order, he then informed us that due to a problem in the kitchen, neither of the Eggs Benedict dishes were available. I’m not sure what sort of kitchen problem would prevent them from making Eggs Benedict unless it was an ingredients ordering snafu and they didn’t have the ingredients to make it (but again, they seemed to have eggs, butter and bread so what was missing...english muffins? Lemon (for the hollandaise)? Canadian ham? Seems that a quick trip to Trader Joe’s could have solved the problem.). My friend’s said her cassoulet was good. Her husband and I had the pancakes. The kitchen was accommodating when I asked if they had blueberries and, if so, could I get some in my pancakes, however, when I got one third of the way into my pancakes, the inside was not fully cooked. Ick...nothing worse than the taste of raw flour batter. They did make me a whole new dish which was great. There seemed to be just one waiter and he was clearly overwhelmed because he never returned to check on us or refill our coffees during the meal. We only saw him again when he delivered the check. In summary, while I can’t pan them totally because they were nice and accommodating, the menu limitations, kitchen errors, delayed opening and insufficient number of waitstaff make me unable to recommend this restaurant until they improve their operations.
Terrific French bistro with good service, excellently curated and good value wine list. All of the classics are here and on a cool fall evening they hit the spot. Our go-to bistro near Jay st/metro tech-consistently good over multiple visits. Good outdoor seating on the myrtle promenade as well.
Louder than expected. Like a bar with dining tables.
This place had decent food but it was underwhelming. The service was fast and courteous.
The food is always good but the service was not up to par. They couldn't find the Open Table reservation. Had to ask for mustard & ice tea three times!!
Nice & Cody, also easy to take away. Waitress was very efficient, food came in quickly and the raviolis we're delicious. Good place for a quick delicious lunch.
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, affordable prices
Great find and loved the Jazz trio. Food was excellent and wine recommendations helpful.
Always decent…usually have the quiche -- excellent or the garden burger -- quite good. This time had the chicken Caesar -- meh.
Sat outside and enjoyed a great brunch and live music amazing
Spent a lot of time waiting on the server. Once the order was submitted, drinks came back pretty quickly.
The restaurant wasn't busy, but a few dishes on the menu were not available. When our food did ultimately arrive, it came cold. All 3 dishes were served cold. I did see the restaurant prepping for a shower (bridal, I believe) - so perhaps that's why they were distracted. I won't go back to find out.
A very authentic French restaurant. The boeuf bourginon was exceptional.
Happy to have found this quiet, gem. The food was tasty, the service was good. I would definitely go here again and recommend to friends.
The best thing was the almond chocolate croissant. I will be dreaming about it for months to come.
The service was wondering I asked for a certain drink and she suggested something they had and it was delicious.
The entire Verizon team enjoyed it. Thanka again!
