La Cucina di Clemenza Ratings and Reviews
We had a wonderful dinner on Valentine's Day. The food is always outstanding. My husband and I especially enjoy the Veal Milanese and my Mother-In-Law's favorite is the Eggplant Parmesan. A very nice touch on Valentine's Day was his and hers napkins in the shape of a tuxedo and a rose. This is our favorite go to restaurant.
We were seated close to door and every time the door opened we froze. I have allergies and initially was told they could not make me a meal. They were not knowledgeable about what ingredients were in the dishes and thought potatoes and vegetables contained gluten/wheat and argued with me.
My husband asked for his leftovers to be placed in a doggie bag and they were thrown out.
Slow. Slow. Slow. An hour wait, what a disappointment.
Chicken meatballs cold, sauce hot(temperature) . Calamari cold, sauce hot(temperature). Entree's good. Server likes to talk but not listen. That was the root cause of the problem. Lack of management is a concern and lack of any interaction doesn't help either. Adding that 30 minutes after ordering, we were told no Brussel Sprouts, poor organization ... Bottom line apathetic server killed the meal....No sure a third chance is warranted! Take your chances.
Really pleased we finally stopped in here--we've been enjoying their pizza next door for years. Our waiter Marcello was very attentive, and we told him we wanted to take our time with ordering. Started off with the meatballs--very good and huge portion. Only wish they were seasoned a bit more and not so smooth inside (someone really mashed the meat together). Continued with both a clams and asparagus appetizers--delicious! We ended up splitting the eggplant parm dinner which was amazing. Great place and people, will be back and not just on weekends.
We tried this restaurant for Christmas Eve. The owners had difficulty locating our reservation and were generally rude to us. When we were finally seated and it took 10-15 mins for someone to come to our table to acknowledge us. Then it took about 10 mins more to get water and bread and have our wine opened. The food was only okay ... definitely not worth coming back for. The only bright spot was the owners’ son who ended up looking after our table. He was pleasant and attentive. He apologized for the under-staffing.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner on Christmas Eve. I highly recommend the meatballs. Love that it's BYOB. The atmosphere is special - the interior decor is lovely. Service was slow, that's my only feedback of where to improve - but likely because of the holiday business. Spring for dessert - the homemade tiramisu, and banana cheesecake, is worth it!
I've been here twice in the last few months. Clamenza's never disappoints! I usually get the same thing each time, the braciole and the GIANT meatball appetizer, but I get the meatballs with the meal and split up among the table. This time we got the rice ball appetizer and it was awesome! Great food, great atmosphere and the staff is genuinely kind and friendly - I have told many to go there and no one ever says they had a bad time/meal!
The food is always very good here. The service took awhile to get started. We were seated on time and the hostess said she would be right back with menus but she never showed up. We finally got our server to bring us menus. He was very attentive as was the other staff. We like this place and won’t let this one slip up keep us from coming again.
We walked to the restaurant from the Papermill Play house following a matinee. 4PM reservation and the restaurant was ours for the first 30 min or so. Food was awesome and the service was friendly. We were there as a party of 4 and even when the house filled around 5 PM, conversation was easy. Ambiance is very nice and gives a European outdoor restaurant feel in doors. Would definitely go again.
Ambiance and decor were very nice, however, the service and food was very mediocre. The service was not on top of things, took very long to get a menu as well as order the food. Ordered appetizers, before we knew it, dinner was already served. Wouldn't go back, definitely some other spots in Millburn that are much better.
