La Cucina di Clemenza Ratings and Reviews
The food is always very good here. The service took awhile to get started. We were seated on time and the hostess said she would be right back with menus but she never showed up. We finally got our server to bring us menus. He was very attentive as was the other staff. We like this place and won’t let this one slip up keep us from coming again.
We walked to the restaurant from the Papermill Play house following a matinee. 4PM reservation and the restaurant was ours for the first 30 min or so. Food was awesome and the service was friendly. We were there as a party of 4 and even when the house filled around 5 PM, conversation was easy. Ambiance is very nice and gives a European outdoor restaurant feel in doors. Would definitely go again.
Ambiance and decor were very nice, however, the service and food was very mediocre. The service was not on top of things, took very long to get a menu as well as order the food. Ordered appetizers, before we knew it, dinner was already served. Wouldn't go back, definitely some other spots in Millburn that are much better.
Our visit was on Mother's Day, and the restaurant was packed so we waited for 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Weren't given menus once seated. Waited 10 minutes for the menus and another 5 minutes for our server to take our beverage order. A little frustrating but things started flowing a little quicker after the drinks arrived. Anyhow, for me this didn't weigh so heavily toward my rating because it was a major special holiday and we all know how it goes on Mother's Day.
The service was fair to good. There was a couple who looked liked they may be the owners, helping the host with seating and managing. The woman was sweet and pleasant. Food was very good, the "gravy" or pasta sauce was delicious and dishes very flavorful. I fell in love with the atmosphere. Totally my style. Overall, a good dining experience. Would definitely recommend, and I will return again to try more thins on the menu. Also can't wait to try the brick oven pizza at the attached pizzeria next door. Thank you!
Friends and I had eaten here separately but not together and not in a while. It was crowded and noisy in the rear room (although attractive). The issue was service - or rather lack thereof. No one was asked about pepper for salad, cheese for pasta, water glasses weren't filled and a side was or rabe was forgotten and when it came, cheese was offered to her but no one else. Several dishes were a nice size but the price of the specials was outrageous and the size of eggplant parmigiana (had by 2) was teeny. So sad but we will likely not return.
Made a last minute reservation on a saturday evening at 6. Was happy that they were able to seat us. We were seated in the back room which was quiet and pretty. An hour into our dinner a table of 14 or so were seated and we could not hear ourselves talk. The waiter rushed us to order, and seemed as though he was doing us a favor. He brought our meals, stood at the table and screamed out the order for each one of us.
We couldn't hear and he got annoyed. Perhaps he could have remembered who ordered what. With this, the food was very good and came out in a timely fashion. I wouldn't have written a review if I didn't get a request for one. Good food, timely service, nice place. Lousy attitude from waiters, way too noisy- but that was due to the large party.
Overall, food was good. Calamari was cooked too long; chewy and rubbery. Waiter was never around to give us more water or ask how our dinner was. For 2 people, almost 3 hours for dinner and 45 minutes waiting for a dessert menu; only 3 other tables were there while we were. Definitely needed another server to help out and check on tables.
A gem. Charming, creative decor, surprisingly spacious, and most important - delicious food. Everyone in our party had something different - filet mignon, salmon, chicken, veal, pasta - and everyone loved their choices. Desserts were superb and all portions were good-to-generous. Service was attentive but not intrusive. This was our first visit but it definitely won't be our last!
This was our family's second visit to this restaurant, and it is quickly becoming a favorite. The staff, service and food were all terrific. We had a scallop and shrimp special appetizer that was absolutely delicious! Truly outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit!
