La Cuchara Ratings and Reviews
Went for restaurant week. Choices was strictly ok. Was given a wobbly table which was never fixed despite complaining. Service was very poor. Too many people were getting things for eg wine by someone else cutlery by someone else one dish by someone else second dish by someone else - not really sure what our servers job was as multiple people were serving us.
Our reason for dinner at La Cuchara was to take our siblings out to celebrate their anniversary. The person who greeted us even mentioned that we were there for an anniversary. Then it was never mentioned again. We were embarrassed and very disappointed. In addition, our server was much too attentive and was too hovering
It did not feel like a celebration at all
This is a great addition to the Baltimore restaurant scene. The food is more from the north of Spain, a region that many local dining patrons are less familiar with than the typical central and southern Spanish fare. Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. The server was knowledgeable about the dishes and the wine list and made two excellent wine pairings with our meal. Great for a night out or a special occasion dinner.
Hard to judge the noise since it was New Years Eve. My family thought it was quiet sophistication. We really liked La Cuchara..driving there was sketchy..plenty of parking though..food and service was top notch..when you can leave an impression on two 15 and 18 year old non-foodies you are doing great!
Even though our table was a good distance from the door we got a very cold breeze when the door was opened. They should think about fixing that. Wine list was good but should have a few less expensive options. Also after finishing a $70 bottle a $100 bottle was suggested for the follow-up.
Great service, great food, good wine selection. I gave four ratings in several areas because the seating location was crowded with overflow from the bar pressing into our tables space. It detracted from the experience. For the price I would have expected the staff to be a little more attentive to ensure the bar crowd
Didn’t affect the experience. Overall, I would recommend it and will return.
The food was uneven--from very good to fair. The service was confusing--two wait staff not communicating with each other. Also the sommelier was very pompous explaining our moderately priced bottle of wine and then proceeded to taste it as if it were some $500 bottle before offering it to us.
It has become our yearly tradition to share our Christmas Eve with La Cuchara and it is one of our most favorite traditions. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a celebration, a date night or you are just too tired to cook and you want great food La Cuchara will deliver great food and service every time. The menu is constantly changing, the food is always unique and classic at the same time and the service makes you feel like you are a part of the family. We love the food and the people at La Cuchara and highly recommend it to everyone we know who appreciates good food And exceptional service. We always say this and will continue to, this belt far is the BEST food in Baltimore, and probably Maryland.
We sat at the bar and had appetizers. They were great and at happy hour the price was great! Their wine selection was excellent and the House wine was also great. The chanterelle mushroom dish was very good! Olives of course wonderful to snack on over conversation. Would definitely go back!
The food was spectacular. The house made bread is delicious and nicely complements the variety of small plates and appetizers. We shared the lamb, which was one of the best pieces of grilled lamb I have ever had. The wine list has a lot of variety and I very much enjoyed the bottle the sommelier helped me select. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Highly recommend!
What a pleasure it was to spend our impromptu date night at La Cuchara! As always the food what mind blowing amazing. We shared the mushroom soup and rib eye and the flavors were both complex and comforting at the same time and as always the service was top notch. We also explored the drink menu and we were not disappointed. One of our favorite things about La Cuchara is, no matter what we order we are never disappointed. You can count on the consistency of great creative cuisine and service. By far, THE BEST FOOD IN BALTIMORE! ❤️❤️❤️
The service was very helpful and accommodating. The smoked rockfish appetizer was hugely disappointing... mostly chips, hard to find rockfish and a dollop if fish roe and some creme. Alternative would be to Present it sorted out and with a thicker potato you can sit the fish on. Sent it back. Beets instead. If you are not a pork eater steer clear. Lamb shoulder was served with about 1/3 grizzle and fat. Again disappointed. Chicken was good. Few choices without pork inserted. Nice wine selection. Pretty setting. Easy parking. We went early- pre theater. Relatively quiet. Did not try dessert. Not sure we will return. Sad to say that.
Food was excellent, service was excellent but the menu was confusing IMO the way it was laid out. It was also very loud in there as the tables are pretty close together in the dining area. Lively night be a better description. The bar area looked pretty spacious though, and the decor/design of the whole place was gorgeous. Our server was great and did the best she could explaining but if the menu was more clear, and there were English translations for everything, that might've made it easier.
Visited on a Monday evening, when the pace was slow and the restaurant quiet. Exceptionally attentive service. The food was excellent, although a somewhat puzzling assemblage of different dishes. Portions were modest, a pleasant change from the mammoth portions that many restaurants deliver. Desserts were excellent. Wine list was extensive, but lacking in U.S. labels.
Terrible service, especially the receptionist. She was arrogant and unwilling to change our seat despite all the open availability. The lamb shoulder was too dry. Duck leaf confit was too oily and salty. Came here to celebrate birthday and yet nothing from the staff. For a restaurant at this price point, I expect better service.
Such a wonderful place! We celebrated our Anniversary in style. Service is absolutely impeccable. My steak was the best steak I have ever had, no lie! My husband chose the pork shoulder, and it was done to perfection. Everything was top notch. Love this restaurant!!
