interesting menue, excellent bread selection, excellent cocktails, excellent food
Must sit outside on the patio on a nice evening. Inside seemed quite a bit louder where the outdoor seating was much more appealing. Great food and service.
The food and staff were terrific. Highly recommended.
On our first first, we were seated in a side room with less ambience near the kitchen, and busy wait staff were hustling about the table constantly. The $44 steak was served lukewarm and the wine pours were definitely on the small side. Friendly and helpful waitstaff. The experience was definitely not worth the $185 for 2 people (includes the tip).
Took my mom here for her birthday and it was the best! All the food was excellent, and amazing wine selection. I highly recommend. We were lucky enough to sit outside.
The lamb was amazing! Best cappuccino ever!
Of course, the most important aspect of dining is the food and the food last night was superb. However, everything else about the evening was subpar. We arrived on the early side (before 6) so we could make it to an 8 pm show downtown. Although the restaurant was EMPTY we were seated in the back of the dark side (to the right when you walk in). Not a single other diner was seated on this side the entire evening. It was bizarre. I thought the restaurant was slow until I got up to use the restroom. The other side of the restaurant was packed. Lots of activity. When I sat down at our table again the silence was deafening. At some point the manager stopped at our table and mumbled “are you OK here?” We had already started eating and really had no idea why he was asking. The waitperson was telling us about the specials when someone else came over, interrupted her, poured our drinks and left. Again, very unprofessional. My wife and I enjoyed our food but felt the restaurant really didn’t care about our dining experience. Frankly, I don’t care to go back. There are lots of other, better, options nearby.
Extremely impressed by this restaurant. Food was outstanding with unique flavors. Absolutely everything we had was delicious. Service was excellent. I will be back soon!
Great place to meet friends and share plates. We’ve learned to pay attention to specials— they are always inventive and delicious. Time spent consulting Red about drinks is well worth the effort— pairings of food and drink here are sublime, no matter what your preferences.
Complements to the chef! Everything was just wonderful (We had the lamb which was delicious) and the service was excellent. Thanks!
Fabulous time. Great lamb chops.
WOW-OMG, LA Cuchara is Amazing , form the time you walk into this establishment , everything about it screams delicious .....
The wait staff kept interrupting conversation and clearing the table before everyone had finished their courses. Their constant hovering was quite annoying.
Sat outside on the shaded area of the patio, while enjoying the delicious food that was beautifully prepared. Fabulous meal!
The food is amazing, tastes wonderful and was served very quickly. The ambiance is also spectacular! Would recommend
Great food - seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, and a great variety for all our tastes and favorites. Anchovies were exceptional as well.
Basque (Spain) inspired food, based on fresh and local seasonal ingredients.
Entrees and appetizers are seafood or grilled meat based. Many small bites, pinxtos, options, so the larger your group the more to taste and share. Loved the white anchovies, and enjoyed the Spanish olives. Desired the calamari that I saw arrive at a nearby table. Extensive wine list and delicious in-house cocktails . The Picon Punch is popular, refreshing and not too sweet as my standby is gin 'n tonic. The Picon is made in-house.
The vegetarian in our duo was accommodated by choosing a salad and a plate of vegetarian side dishes (chickpea-farro salad and butternut squash) , able to choose among the dozen+ vegetables on offer that evening. Also dessert to finish the meal, try any of the house-made sorbets, or whatever your wait staff recommeneds
The waitress wished us a happy anniversary (she had actually read the Open Table reservation comments!) and was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive without hovering,. We ate outdoors, perfect weather. Could have been anywhere in Europe, rather than Baltimore. (Even the light rail passing was not noisy)
La Cuchara is a wonderful restaurant with delicious Basque fare and a great wine selection. Came for a graduation dinner with family (including a 2 year old) and was treated to excellent service. HAd a perfectly cooked Bronzini dish with seasonal morel mushrooms and asparagus. Yum!
I was very disappointed with the service we received. I have been twice before and loved La Cuchara.
I will remember to never come again on a Sunday evening. There were multiple dishes that the kitchen was out of. MOST importantly we received VERY poor service and probably would have ordered more food if we had received better service.
Excellent food and service. Look forward to coming back
Birthday celebration and everyone enjoyed themselves.
This place is awesome. To me this is the best restaurant of Baltimore!
La Cuchara never disappoints! Everyone always has a good time.
Have had an excellent experience every time I've gone here, and the most recent was no exception. Everything was delicious, they were very helpful and accommodating.
On two different occasions I dined here, both times with great pleasure. Eating appetizers tapas style at the bar was reasonably inexpensive and delicious. Eating a multiple course meal was better still.
Excellent ambiance and service. The food was delicious. Definitely will be back.
Service and attention was perfect. They even noticed based on my comments that it was my husband’s birthday. They surprised him with dessert.
The food was really good and we enjoyed the variety.
Outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in the door, until our departure we were made to feel like we were the only ones there. Food was SPECTACULAR!
I was disappointed by the Mother's Day brunch. They ran out of two of the main course options on the Prix fix menu and the available ones were underwhelming (and a bad value... Think my party subsidized earlier diners). Service was inattentive, forgetting an entire order, and making offers ("want me to get you a chair for that car seat?"), only to forget about the follow through. It was the end of a busy day, though, so willing to cut some slack. As mentioned in another review, the kids menu was embarrassing.
We had a lovely Mother’s Day Brunch. I like their food, and the offerings were not the usual fare, but still very good.
I was very disappointed with the team's ability to handle children on Mother's Day. Not all kids are 3 years old. They offered a grilled cheese, buttered pasta and one other juvenile dish. My daughter ordered a starter of the mixed price menu and we were charged full price. My son saw french bread displayed and ask for a few slices and they said no. I was shocked. I knew going into the process that there was a fixed menu and was told that there was option for kids.
The food and service at La Cuchara are consistently top-notch. It's become my go-to special occasion restaurant in Baltimore.
Pricey, but great all around
I don't know why it's taken so long for us to get here (oh yeah, kids). We had a great time! Between the service and quality food, our anniversary evening was a huge success and very memorable. If not for the special occasion bottle we ordered, the meal would have been well priced too. The Mackerel is delicious though I wish it was made in-house. Loved the bacalao. My wife's halibut out-shined my Lamb shoulder but that was only because the Brussels were less then tender. Hazelnut Flan?...I'm so happy that was at our table. We laughed; we cried; we recalled why our love is so good and strong...sipping Catalonian wine and rewarding our taste buds.
It was fun and delicious...as usual.
Great ambience. Great menu good options. Friendly helpful staff
The food and wine were amazing! Brit and Carly were super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The sommelier was attentive and patient and picked out exactly what I was asking for from the very long, and very impressive wine list. Overall me and my date had a great time and will certainly return.
I don't normally write reviews but I think I need to this time. Let me start with the food and service are impecable at La Cuchera! We had shishito peppers that were perfectly cooked not to spicy except for only one pepper and we were warned by the waiter that one in fifteen would be hot and he was dead on. For our entrees we both got the lamb shoulder. This is where the story really starts. It came with brussel sprouts and a butternut squash puree. The lamb was delicious, just rare enough but so tender. Cooked perfectly. The brussel sprouts weren't cooked enough but it wasn't really a big deal because the rest of the meal was perfect. I had a whistle pig rye also. Get it, it pairs great with the lamb. We told the waitress about the brussle sprouts just to let them know, we weren't complaining. That's when the superior service kicked in. The manager came over and wanted to know what he could do. He was upset that the side dish wasn't perfect. Such devotion to details. He brought us more shishito peppers and another whistle pig rye to appease us and as expected he didn't charge us for them. We had a really great experience there. You need to experience La Cuchera if you've never been and make sure to get the brussle sprouts under cooked!
