Food was delicious, drinks a little pricey, great atmosphere
I'd give it another chance because we were limited to a pre fixed menu for vqlentines day but overall the food was just very average. For $100 a person we all left very disappointed.
Went there for Valentines' day dinner - so perhaps the fixed price menu was a bit ambitious for La Cuchara, but the 5 course meal was so overly salted (for both of us) it destroyed what should have been a reasonably good meal. I've been to La Cuchara several times, and while the food is moderately good the other visits, this experience was so negative that I felt obligated to review.
We had a great experience. It was Valentine's Day so the restaurant offered a fixed price, five course menu with limited selections - which made complete sense on such a busy evening. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner. The portions were much larger than we anticipate. The food was fresh and very tasty. We had excellent service with attention from about 10 restaurant staff members. We love this restaurant.
Spectacular all around.
Jackie K was one of the best servers that I've had.
The service was truly outstanding. One of the best in all of greater Baltimore. The food was tasty albeit somewhat outside my culinary preferences. Fun for tapas experiences. Superb wine selection for both newbies and connoisseurs.
I love La Cuchara. We went to celebrate my birthday and the service was fantastic. Everything I have ordered has been delicious and I will definitely return to try more menu items. The cocktail and wine list is great as well. Some of the best cocktails I've had in Baltimore. The flavor combinations were excellent for both of our entrees. You can never go wrong with the steak. The desert menu looked delicious; I highly recommend the churros.
Excellent good and service.
We LOVE to dine out, & we’re fortunate enough to be able to do it quite a lot. I have to say that our recent dinner at La Cuchara was one the best meals I’ve eaten ever! There were four of us in the group and we each got something different, and then we sampled each other’s choices, and we all loved all of the main courses. We were going to get appetizers, but the homemade breads and butter were so delicious (& free!) that we ate them all, and didn’t have space for appetizers.
We DID sample a couple of the desserts, & they were to die for! Even the coffee & cappuccino were great. We’ve been here lots of times & brought our kids and grandkids and friends, and they all loved it! The wait staff were also lovely - there when you wanted them, lots of on-spot suggestions & recommendations! Yea la Cuchara!
Loved the small plates.. would have preferred a different table ..bar area looked fun, food was very good and loved the selection
Really REALLY loud. Our conversations were mostly impossible amongst the group. With two vegans and one vegetarian in the group (specified beforehand), there weren’t many options for vegans. We were underwhelmed by the food. The atmosphere was pretty good but again, we couldn’t hear each other at all. Very nice to bring a birthday dessert but it was brought to the birthday girl after she was a few bites into her dessert she’d already ordered so it wasn’t eaten. All in all, not too impressed but maybe we’ll give it another shot some other time. Last time we were here was over a year ago and we were underwhelmed but hopefully better things are coming.
Very delicious, I will definitely go again. I have family in Basque Country and the restuarant did it justice.
Do much fun; great service recommendations from waiter; friendly & fun
They were out of a few items and it was only 7:30 on a friday night.
Excellent food and service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended
The food was ok, nothing great. I ordered a rare steak and it came out medium plus and, when asked, I said as much but that was all the conversation that surrounded the topic so, it wasn't like they went out of their way to address a subpar performance on the dish.
It's also a rather noisy place, lots of hard surfaces and floors that reverberate with sound. Despite the light volume of diners we were given a small table. All in all, it's a very posh place considering the war zone that it borders and I'm sure it's a desirable spot to catch a drink with friends but, I wouldn't rush right back for anything in particular; there are plenty of other places in Baltimore that are much better.
I was so excited to finally try La Cuchara but unfortunately had a negative experience. The pork chop was 99% fat, the server was rude about us sending it back and the manager walked by our table several times and said nothing. The restaurant was nearly empty and it’s no wonder they must be struggling. I wish we would have chosen a different restaurant for our special occasion. Unfortunately won’t be returning.
Beautiful restaurant with average service for price point. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive but the food took far to long to come out after the first course. A table adjacent to us was seated after we were, ordered after us, and were halfway through their entree before ours arrived, and both tables ordered one of the same dishes. Pinxtos were the best course by far. Flavors were overall decent for the rest but had some technique opportunities. We'll go back and try again and see if it improves. Glad we went but nothing to write home about. Average everything.
Dinner was excellent. Menu was a bit difficult to decipher if you did not speak Spanish
We went to celebrate my Mom's birthday, and La Cuchara was just perfect for the occasion. The atmosphere was great, the food was incredible and reasonably priced considering the portions and the desserts were decadent. Everyone in the party was thrilled with the experience, and then the champagne celebration came for the birthday girl! We will definitely be back.
Food was fantastic. I wish they had the tables spread further apart for privacy though. I felt like i was part of my neighbors conversation. I loved the tomatoe bread, fish and osso bucco. Will definitely be back.
This is such a delicious restaurant with an incredibly nice vibe. Always a favorite of mine to visit!
Excellent food and wine as always. We had the sweetbreads for the 1st time and they were so amazing we ordered it again. Delighted they had some new sparkling wines on the menu, the ruinart was fantastic.
Exceptional service and food even on a busy night!
Amazing food for Restaurant Week at unbeatable prices. Great service and atmosphere. Never disappointed here.
Great food, great cocktails, great times. I wouldn't mind coming back some time and sitting at the bar for an evening of drinks and snacking.
Always a great meal! Never a miss.
Wonderful ambiance. My meal was tasty and spicy and even better the day after. Service was attentive without overbearing.
The food was excellent. However, even though I made the reservation at least a week in advance we ( five of us) were seated at a table that was very close to the entrance. I asked if we could get a different table and was told no, that there were none available. I did notice a few empty tables in the back part of the restaurant that would have worked much better. It was a cold night and it was noisy near the entrance. Clearly, this made our dinner experience not as good as it should have been.
My first time at La Cuchara was a delicious experience. We went for restaurant week and the fixed price dinner allowed many options. I opted for the anchovies in garlic with herbs as a starter. Paired with some of the delicious array of fresh breads, these were great bites. My entree of Grilled Bronzino was perfectly grilled but the fresh green beans were the star of the plate. The fixed price dessert options were very limited. If the ice cream selection was included it would have been better. I rated service slightly lower as, after our initial seating our water never asked if we wanted beverages. We had to catch him each time we wanted something else or refills. There was a large bar crowd. This looks like an active after work meeting spot.
We went for restaurant week and overall found the food to be disappointing and overpriced.
They seemed understaffed given that it was restaurant week.
One of the entrances to the parking lot by the restaurant is extremely narrow but allows traffic both ways. It’s very dangerous. This need to be corrected ASAP.
The interior is beautiful and tasteful so I did like that, but the acoustics are poor, so it was very loud.
Overall, a lackluster experience. I would not return or recommend to others.
Restaurant Week is a tough time to judge a place you're visiting for the first time, but our table for four had a solid, positive experience. The menu was imaginative, the food was excellent, our low-end wine selection It was a busy night but out wait lady was attentive. We look forward to a return visit soon.
Great experience and food was delicious! I'll definitely go back, will probably sit in the bar area just to see what that experience is like. Granted, it was Restaurant Week so as the evening went on, our server was less attentive, the more crowded and noiser it became and we felt a little rushed towards the end as if other guests were waiting for a table. However, I would go back, again, and I've already recommended La Cuchara to others!
Great food had to wait a little long but was worth it. Was a little busy due to restaurant week but that’s expected. Great experience
Great service! Great food! Brandon (not sure if that’s his name-Brazilian guy-) was a great server and made the experience memorable. This was our first time at la cuchara and for sure will not be the last! A must try!!
My boyfriend and I were in for restaurant week, but added other plates that were on the regular menu. The pintxos and small plates were excellent! The entrees didn’t blow me away,(steak and lamb shoulder) but I still enjoyed them as well as dessert!
Why would I write a review for open table when open table decided our reservation would not be eligible for credit?
The food was terrific. The service was not as good as we would like (had to ask a couple of times for sugar, they forgot a drink, never refilled water or asked about it). I'd still go again because the food was soooo good! And I think they were trying on service, the place was just incredibly busy.
Homemade bread is extremely worth it. Waiters are knowledgeable about the menu which is good because the cuisine is unique and not necessarily something most people will be familiar with. Get the patatas bravas. It's enough for the whole table and delicious!
