La Cremaillere Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Every meal at Cremaillere is an event. Our 5-course New Year's Eve dinner was superb in every way. The restaurant was somewhat noisier than I ever experienced it, but the room was very full. I had the pheasant, something rarely seen on menus these days. It was moist and flavorful; my wife raved about her halibut with lobster risotto. Our souffles were perfection! We are so glad there are still places like Cremaillere. Long may it thrive!
Our two appetizers which were escargot and pâté were absolutely revolting.
Our entrees thankfully were delicious and the souffle was absolutely delicious. if i ever go back, it would be only for the souffle.
Service was spotty. we had our amuse-bouche before we even had bread or our menu! wine didn't come until after our appetizers (and we didn't have a cocktail first).
the pink table cloths are also just terrible. switch to white!!!
Overall i was disappointed- the escargot was soooo bad. but thank goodness for that souffle!
We have been recommended to this restaurant by friends and we finally tried it! Our only regret is that we did not try it sooner! We had the halibut special and had the pike dumplings, which I had as an appetitzer. We also had the sliced filet in a horseradish calvados sauce, which I had never had before and it was out of this world, truly delicious!
They also have an extensive wine list, but we found everything we needed from a price point.
They have a very thin warm applet tart which was a wonderful way to end the meal! We were very very happy!
It is a very beautiful place but the service was terrible! A table of 10 was seated after us and they got there drinks and Appetizers before us! It took forever for the food to come! It was a special birthday dinner and our first time so it was very disappointing!
The food was excellent. Many vegetarian choices and the presentation was impressive. Sunday lunch is also fabulous and a great value.
The only downside for me was that I had made the 7:30 Saturday night reservation several weeks in advance and we were not seated in the main dining area - or by the fireplace which I love. (My secretary was probably not specific in their defense)
When I requested an alternative table I was told none were available (even though I saw many and we were a party of 4). This put a damper on the festivities.
I have the good fortune of traveling throughout the United States for work, and therefore, I have the good opportunity to eat at some very fine restaurants ... but none give me the feeling and enjoyment as this fine establishment does. The food here is classic French, delicious, without being overbearing. The sauces are delicious but not heavy ... how does the Chef do it! Beautiful wine cellar and attentive, gracious service.
Great atmosphere, very charmingly French. We hadn't been here in years and I was a bit nervous as to whether food was still good. Happily it IS! Oysters were delish with nice mignonette sauce. Scallop dish was outstanding as was creme brule. Everyone at our table loved their meal. Service was attentive but not intrusive.
We could not have picked a better place for our holiday celebration with our family and friends. We asked the kitchen to do a preset menu for us of their beet salad as an appetizer, and Dover sole and roasted duckling for the main courses. Everyone raved!
We plan on returning before the year is out to celebrate some more in this charming setting! The fireplace is a definate plus!
This was our first visit to La Cremaillere and we were not disappointed. It is an authentic and "vintage" French restaurant tucked into the countryside between Greenwich and Bedford. The decor is cozy, charming, romantic and comfortable and tres Francais. Wooden beams, low ceilings, painted walls and pink table linens. Banquette and table seating so make a choice. The menu is straight forward and not too inventive. French traditional favorites and specialities of the house. It is expensive so make careful choices! The service was expert and discrete which is one of the highlights of the dining experience. Waiters are there when you need them and are otherwise invisible. Bravo!! Overall, a fabulous Birthday Dinner with a sparkler in the cookie selection to celebrate the day. We recommend and will be back next year for my Birthday!!
One of the top five restaurants we've eaten at in our lives, and we're both 70. Reminds me of Le Grand Vefour in Paris, only much more cozy, with flowers everywhere: impeccable service, divine food, an extraordinary dining experience. We made the pilgrimage from Salem, MA, and we're already planning our next trip back with our children and grandchildren. Best rack of lamb I've ever had in my life. This is where you go to understand how exquisite food and dining can be, without the jet lag that results from flying to France. Every single person on the staff could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Makes my mouth water just remembering it.
This is a wonderful time to come to this restaurant! The charm and the aroma of the crackling fireplace puts you in the mood for their wonder gastronomical offerings. We started out with a spinach and ricotta raviolis and we both followed with the mustard crust salmon, we shared a cheese course and sorbets and souffles for dessert! We had a bottle of delicious burgundy throughout. We went home more than satisfied! You will see us again soon!
This has been the best restaurant in Westchester County for 50 years. My father thought so, and so do I. Is the food cutting edge? Certainly not. But it is perfect. Where else can I find quenelles de brochet? I made them once, and it was very difficult. But I haven't seen them on a menu in years; these were exquisite. My first course was a pasta with escargots. Perfection. The wine list is lovely, but as it was our anniversary I brought my own bottle of Chapoutier Ermitage Le Meal 2005. Wonderful with the meal, and absolutely a privilege to be able to bring it. I keep saying I should come here more often. I should and I will.
This was a wonderful dining experience. The decor and ambiance of this restaurant is very charming with beautiful flowers at the entry area. The food is delicious and the service is attentive and welcoming. You feel as though you are in the French countryside throughout the entire meal.
We picked this restaurant because we had read great reviews about it, are always curious foodies and because we mistakenly thought it was taking part in HVRW and therefore would be a perfect way to get introduced to its cuisine. Well, it turned out they do not take part in HVRW, at least not in the fall, but we had arrived and wanted to try it regardless. And what an amazing dining experience it was! All three appertizes were fabulous, so were the main courses, even desserts for the two of us with a sweet tooth. And they even delighted my wife for having the fabulous Hess wine( Cabernet Sauvignon) available in their wide selection, by the glass! It was pricey, no question, but it was definitely worth the investment. The best meal we’ve had in any Westchester restaurant for a long, long time! Food portions were perfectly sized, beautifully designed and arranged, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Five stars!!!
Dining at Le Cremaillere has been on my list for over thirty years. Life got busy, and it never happened until last night. Can’t believe I waited so long. The entire experience was perfection.....food, service, and atmosphere. I will be back! We could actually have a conversation with our guests....the noise level was pleasant. The food was as good as I expected. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Very lovely decor.
