We could not have picked a better place for our holiday celebration with our family and friends. We asked the kitchen to do a preset menu for us of their beet salad as an appetizer, and Dover sole and roasted duckling for the main courses. Everyone raved!

We plan on returning before the year is out to celebrate some more in this charming setting! The fireplace is a definate plus!

Exceptional cuisine.
A bit noisy for us but I am sure part of that was due to the table next to us. We dine out every Saturday. We will certainly return.

This was our first visit to La Cremaillere and we were not disappointed. It is an authentic and "vintage" French restaurant tucked into the countryside between Greenwich and Bedford. The decor is cozy, charming, romantic and comfortable and tres Francais. Wooden beams, low ceilings, painted walls and pink table linens. Banquette and table seating so make a choice. The menu is straight forward and not too inventive. French traditional favorites and specialities of the house. It is expensive so make careful choices! The service was expert and discrete which is one of the highlights of the dining experience. Waiters are there when you need them and are otherwise invisible. Bravo!! Overall, a fabulous Birthday Dinner with a sparkler in the cookie selection to celebrate the day. We recommend and will be back next year for my Birthday!!

One of the top five restaurants we've eaten at in our lives, and we're both 70. Reminds me of Le Grand Vefour in Paris, only much more cozy, with flowers everywhere: impeccable service, divine food, an extraordinary dining experience. We made the pilgrimage from Salem, MA, and we're already planning our next trip back with our children and grandchildren. Best rack of lamb I've ever had in my life. This is where you go to understand how exquisite food and dining can be, without the jet lag that results from flying to France. Every single person on the staff could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Makes my mouth water just remembering it.

This is a wonderful time to come to this restaurant! The charm and the aroma of the crackling fireplace puts you in the mood for their wonder gastronomical offerings. We started out with a spinach and ricotta raviolis and we both followed with the mustard crust salmon, we shared a cheese course and sorbets and souffles for dessert! We had a bottle of delicious burgundy throughout. We went home more than satisfied! You will see us again soon!

This has been the best restaurant in Westchester County for 50 years. My father thought so, and so do I. Is the food cutting edge? Certainly not. But it is perfect. Where else can I find quenelles de brochet? I made them once, and it was very difficult. But I haven't seen them on a menu in years; these were exquisite. My first course was a pasta with escargots. Perfection. The wine list is lovely, but as it was our anniversary I brought my own bottle of Chapoutier Ermitage Le Meal 2005. Wonderful with the meal, and absolutely a privilege to be able to bring it. I keep saying I should come here more often. I should and I will.

We picked this restaurant because we had read great reviews about it, are always curious foodies and because we mistakenly thought it was taking part in HVRW and therefore would be a perfect way to get introduced to its cuisine. Well, it turned out they do not take part in HVRW, at least not in the fall, but we had arrived and wanted to try it regardless. And what an amazing dining experience it was! All three appertizes were fabulous, so were the main courses, even desserts for the two of us with a sweet tooth. And they even delighted my wife for having the fabulous Hess wine( Cabernet Sauvignon) available in their wide selection, by the glass! It was pricey, no question, but it was definitely worth the investment. The best meal we’ve had in any Westchester restaurant for a long, long time! Food portions were perfectly sized, beautifully designed and arranged, staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Five stars!!!

Dining at Le Cremaillere has been on my list for over thirty years. Life got busy, and it never happened until last night. Can’t believe I waited so long. The entire experience was perfection.....food, service, and atmosphere. I will be back! We could actually have a conversation with our guests....the noise level was pleasant. The food was as good as I expected. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Very lovely decor.

Having discovered La Cremaillere from reading the glowing Vanity Fair review and having specially arranged an overnight trip to Bedford just to dine here for a birthday celebration, we obviously had high expectations. We had just flown in from the UK with our body clocks five hours ahead, dressed nicely and arrived early for our 7:15 reservation. The restaurant was nearly empty. We sat at the little bar and ordered champagne. Surprised that we were barely acknowledged with anything more than boredom and inattention, we worked hard to warm up our hosts. If only we had been greeted with the slightest degree of warmth or welcome, we might give 5 stars.

The foie gras was everything fois gras should be. The halibut with lobster mashed potatoes and spinach indescribably delicious, the rack of lamb just right, the grand marnier soufflé extremely light, meringue-like, and yummy, the cheese plate uninspired, the birthday mini dessert appreciated. The food prices were not unreasonable for excellent quality authentic French cuisine, the preparation was expert, the old farmhouse is rustic, warm, cozy and inviting, the provincial historic costume illustrations lining the walls charming, the fresh flowers (and maybe some realistic silk?) everywhere were lovely and copious.

Gradually other patrons who seemed to be well-known to the proprietors arrived and were greeted very warmly. Apparently they don’t cater to strangers. Our bill for two, with a $350 bottle of wine, exceeded $550 without tip. Somehow I expected a warmer welcome.

We had an excellent evening, from the moment we sat down and they offered us a complimentary tomato flan, to delicious lobster salad as an appetizer, my wife thoroughly enjoyed her confit of duck and I was served a very flavorful and tender veal chop.

The service was courteous and attentive. The captain gave us very nice wine pairings throughout our meal.

Can't wait until they light the fireplace!

After recently seeing a very wonderful write up in Vanity Fair and a little time afterwards in our local Westchester WAG , we all decided to make a reservation at La Cremaillere. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in our area and it is nice to see it get national attention! You get the sense that the owner and the staff truly enjoy having you there and the waitstaff are courteous and kind. You are truly transported to a French country restaurant when you dine here! Bravo La Cremaillere!

Beautiful restaurant and excellent service. The food was simply amazing in the perfect portion. There is a huge parking lot which I completely appreciate. We went on a Thursday night and there were not too many people. Restaurant was quiet and cozy. I had the quenelles which was light in a wonderful sauce and tasted light as air. The dessert was decadent and they gave us a plate of Varied french cookies gratis. The drive would have been beautiful if it wasn't pitch dark but we will definitely make it back for the lunch.

I told them I was highly allergic to truffles, they confirmed it with their floor manager and then served sliced truffles on top of the Quenelles. Bottom line they did not pay attention! The sad part is my wife told me it was excellent. I then had confit de canard that had nothing to do in any way with confit de canard, it was simply roasted duck legs. The souffle was not cooked and soupy. This used to be a great restaurant, they need some work because the physical restaurant is warm and inviting but the food and attention is really nothing more than a good local C restaurant.

It's taken me a while to write this review as I don't like leaving mostly negative feedback but ultimately I feel it is my responsibility to leave honest reviews. Let's start with the good. The service was very good, attentive, friendly and just about right. The room/building is nice and quaint with a pleasant atmosphere. The wine list is pretty exceptional, especially the depth and breadth of the French offering. Unfortunately the food was rather disappointing. We started with some oysters, which were good and fresh, but unfortunately the meal went downhill from there. The escargot appetizer was OK but just that. The ravioli appetizer again was just OK, did not seem very fresh. The pike dumplings were tasty, but the dish could have used some other texture as it was all very mushy. For entrees the fish of the day was the best but nothing spectacular. The beef filet meal was rather disappointing, meat was rather bland and could only be cooked medium or more (as they are slicing and reheating from a larger roast). The vegetables with the meals were also very basic and nothing special. The overall most disappointing thing was that every course had virtually the same sauce, all heavy cream, not a lot of seasoning and only slight variation of spice. This made the meal rather one dimensional and makes the kitchen seem more of an assembly line then a lot of cooking going on. Some of it may just be their old school french style, but some updating of the menu would be nice. Ultimately for the price it's just not worth it in my opinion.

Our second trip and once again a wonderful experience. Very busy on a Saturday night but service was smooth and quick. I started with the oysters and then had the special halibut and lobster risotto, which was delicately flavored and delicious. My wife started with the cold asparagus soup and then had the seafood vol au vent, which was superb.
