La Cremaillere Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Another wonderful evening was had here at La Cremaillere in Bedford.
My wife and I frequent this restaurant for special occasions, or our business dinners, and certainly, with our children, even though they are most partial to the silver trays of French Fries than anything else, except perhaps the souffles!
We find everyone to be attentive, but not obtrusive, when they need to be. And, needless to say the food is consistently delicious. We are very happy here always.
My family and I recently celebrated an 80th birthday at Le Cremaillere. We had rented a limo and, due to the weather and some driver issues, arrived at the restaurant more than an hour late. Although I had called to alert them of our issue, I was skeptical that we wouldn't be greeted with strained smiles and rushed service. The absolute opposite was true; the staff at Le Cremaillere could not have been friendlier, more accommodating, or more efficient. We were greeted enthusiastically, and at no time did we feel rushed or forgotten. The food was delicious, the ambiance was delightful, and it was a pleasure to find a place that still institutes a dress code....it makes an occasion FEEL like an occasion, when one dresses for it! The birthday cake was delicious and and simply capped a perfect evening.
Our great appreciation goes to everyone at Le Cremaillere for making a special day even more special!
My wife and I have been going to La Cremaillere for over 20 years. We go on every special occasion which makes the special occasion a VERY special occasion. We have never been disappointed in any aspect of what a great resteraunt should be. Having been to Paris many times on both a business basis and pleasure, wherein my business associates were trying to impress me by taking me to many of the finest resteraunts in Paris, I can state without hesitation that La Cremaillere ranks among the finest.
The overall experience is a glorious one. Incredibly cozy surroundings, beautiful setting attentive staff and excellent food. A wonderful traditional French restaurant in a romantic setting with close your eyes delicious food. I'd eat every meal there if that were only possible.
This most recent visit was to take advantage of a 5 course meal that was offered at 50% off. Everything about the meal was exceptional. The price was certainly a bargain although, as with most restaurants, they did make up for it in part with the cost of drinks. Under any circumstances, this restaurant is a local treasure. Will be returning for Valentine's day.
I can't use enough superlatives about La Cremaillere. We dined there on New Year's Eve with a fixed five-course menu. In place of mass-produced indifferent food that might be expected in another restaurant we had an exceptional meal. This week we came for the Winter Tasting Menu, again five courses. What a wonderful experience, from the perfectly matched wine to the marvelous souffle. Every occasion at La Cremaillere is an event and we look forward to every visit there. Alpha-plus!
We had a wonderful gathering in the private room off the main dining room. We love coming here, particularly when we gather with our friends. The food is consistantly delicious, the sauces are exquisite without being heavy (how they do this I will never know!) , and the attention we received from our server was perfect.
They have a terrine of foie gras that is just imaginably good! There is a classic french dish we had not had before, pike dumplings, so flavorful and light, in a lobster sauce (?) ... wow!
This classic French gem never disappoints. Excellent food and service. Dress code has relaxed over the years - Jackets are merely "suggested" now, but almost every male in the restaurant had one on. The excellent people watching adds to the delight of your experience. Oh, the jewels!
On a quiet evening for a snowy Wednesday couldn’t ask for something more appropriate fire place going good food and the service just as sweet as it this knowledgeable and professional. Made us feel like royals and family at the same time ....
We have been to the French countryside and had wonderful meals from Lyon to Provence, how lucky we are to have La Cremaillere in our own back yard here in Westchester, without the expense of an airline ticket! The roaring fireplace ambiance is certainly an addition this time of year. Their mussel soup is nothing short of delicious and the confit of duck is tender and so satisfying. They have these cute little trays that you can order for two for your pommes frites!
My wife and I shared a thin apple tart for dessert.
We were surprised when we got in our car to leave that it was still a Ford and not a Citroen! LOL
Every meal at Cremaillere is an event. Our 5-course New Year's Eve dinner was superb in every way. The restaurant was somewhat noisier than I ever experienced it, but the room was very full. I had the pheasant, something rarely seen on menus these days. It was moist and flavorful; my wife raved about her halibut with lobster risotto. Our souffles were perfection! We are so glad there are still places like Cremaillere. Long may it thrive!
Our two appetizers which were escargot and pâté were absolutely revolting.
Our entrees thankfully were delicious and the souffle was absolutely delicious. if i ever go back, it would be only for the souffle.
Service was spotty. we had our amuse-bouche before we even had bread or our menu! wine didn't come until after our appetizers (and we didn't have a cocktail first).
the pink table cloths are also just terrible. switch to white!!!
Overall i was disappointed- the escargot was soooo bad. but thank goodness for that souffle!
We have been recommended to this restaurant by friends and we finally tried it! Our only regret is that we did not try it sooner! We had the halibut special and had the pike dumplings, which I had as an appetitzer. We also had the sliced filet in a horseradish calvados sauce, which I had never had before and it was out of this world, truly delicious!
They also have an extensive wine list, but we found everything we needed from a price point.
They have a very thin warm applet tart which was a wonderful way to end the meal! We were very very happy!
It is a very beautiful place but the service was terrible! A table of 10 was seated after us and they got there drinks and Appetizers before us! It took forever for the food to come! It was a special birthday dinner and our first time so it was very disappointing!
The food was excellent. Many vegetarian choices and the presentation was impressive. Sunday lunch is also fabulous and a great value.
The only downside for me was that I had made the 7:30 Saturday night reservation several weeks in advance and we were not seated in the main dining area - or by the fireplace which I love. (My secretary was probably not specific in their defense)
When I requested an alternative table I was told none were available (even though I saw many and we were a party of 4). This put a damper on the festivities.
I have the good fortune of traveling throughout the United States for work, and therefore, I have the good opportunity to eat at some very fine restaurants ... but none give me the feeling and enjoyment as this fine establishment does. The food here is classic French, delicious, without being overbearing. The sauces are delicious but not heavy ... how does the Chef do it! Beautiful wine cellar and attentive, gracious service.
Great atmosphere, very charmingly French. We hadn't been here in years and I was a bit nervous as to whether food was still good. Happily it IS! Oysters were delish with nice mignonette sauce. Scallop dish was outstanding as was creme brule. Everyone at our table loved their meal. Service was attentive but not intrusive.
