A Casual, Friendly and Inviting Restaurant
It was my first time visiting the restaurant and I couldn’t be happier. The food, service, and atmosphere were all spot on. I will be back for sure.
My husband and I made a reservation for our anniversary last weekend. *Pro-tip: make a reservation. We saw some people who were happy to wait or take up a seat at the bar. We also saw a few patrons frustrated about waiting...for a table of 4...for dinner...on a Friday night at 7:00 (I will never understand). The decor is subtle, simplistic, and modern but not at all stuffy. The only reason I'd give the atmosphere a 4/5 is because of the TVs above the bar. They seem out of place and distracting. The real star, however, is the food. We ordered a little bit of everything and were pleased as punch (speaking of punch, our cocktails were ah-mazing)! We didn't wait long – despite a full house – and the service was phenomenal! We are from Fresno and plan on stopping in again in the very near future.
I love wine country restaurants that have a reasonably priced list - they know that many of their diners know what they are paying for a bottle. They might have just left a tasting room, so lets not get greedy with the mark up of lovely bottles matched for the chef's cuisine. La Cosecha is just such a place. We drank a delicious bottle of a vintage not available at the winery anymore- Caliza Companion 2014. Rich fruity and just enough Tempranillo to set a Spanish tone for our meal. Perfect with the meat paella - each of the chunks of pork, chicken, and sausage cooked just right, not over done, but still succulent. The rice well flavored though not enough of a soccarat on the bottom. A special of the day was a fine slow cooked short rib with mashed potatoes- completely tender but not stringy, a rich extracted meat sauce that matched the wine. Best of all was the Moqueca- not on the menu but it came highly recommended by a tasting room and she was right on. The Brazilian seafood stew was filled with mussels, small clams, shrimp and salmon. Once again each cooked to perfection. I loved the broth- traditionally seafood broth, tomatoes, and enough coconut milk to smooth the flavors. Served with rice and a hot sauce on the side, which remained on the side as not to ruin the wine. Our starters of the house salad and beef empanadas were lovely, but dessert shined too. The not too sweet chocolate torte was excellent with the last sips of wine, and the expresso creme brulee had a perfect crust of crackly sugar.
I wish I could eat here more often, alas too far away. But hope to return and in the least will sent all my wine friends over.
Traveling with my husband. The restaurant was recommended and did not disappoint! Noise was limited which is important to me and I am grateful. Will definitely go back when in Paso in future. Wonderful bar tender!
We have enjoyed your restaurant several times when visiting the Paso area. Saturday nights food was just off. Service was great, food not so much. Grilled scallops were smothered in sauce and very unappetizing. Also, we would have preferred the seafood paella with grilled calamari instead of fried- just too heavy.
The pizza which is usually good, seemed gummy.
A big disappointment.
Outstanding food and service Dora the Paso vibe.
There just wasn't much on the menu that we found very exciting, I'm afraid. We settled for offerings that we thought would be hard to mess up and even those were mediocre. This place gets good reviews from others, however, so perhaps they were having an "off" night.
Amazing spot in Paso! The food was incredible- including the Paella and Pizzas. The service was also great and the ambiance was cozy, and cute. We will be back the next time we are in town- so good!
We had amazing food, cocktails, and wine. Our fabulous waiter, Cody, took great care of us. The paella and fried calamari were delicious!!!!
We arrived early and were seated right away. Food was wonderful and staff were all very kind and helpful with making menu choices. Food was outstanding! Perfect date night.
We had a lovely lunch sitting at the sidewalk facing bar last weekend. Shared the Brazilian inspired seafood stew, ceviche of the day, and a bottle of Albarino. All so good - if and when we are down from the Bay Area, we will make sure we try and eat here.
Wonderful food in a pleasant but noisy space. Well located, hip.
Loved it! Our waiter was very good, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious and so were the drinks.
We will definitely revisit when we come back into town.
A South American themed restaurant from the folks at Il Cortile. Great food, reasonable cost, just a bit noisy.
Great food and service!
Celebrated my wife's birthday today with brunch at La Cosecha! Overall we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit, their space is lovely and the trio of musicians playing old jazz hits was extremely talented. Our meal was solid, my wife really enjoyed the beer salad with grilled shrimp, and I thought their take on crab cakes was solid. If I could change one thing, I wish they'd turned off the huge television above the bar while the band played beneath it.
We had a girls night out for a birthday celebration. The reservation for on time and the food and drinks were amazing. We had the braised short ribs, paella, and rib eye steak. Everything was fantastic.
A really wonderful spot in beautiful downtown Paso Robles. The food was fantastic. The tortilla soup was great but the moqueca (a Brazilian fish stew and their signature dish) is a must try. It was exceptional! The service was excellent as well.
Love it, great food!
Everything was going good until the Paella was served. It was literally burned on the bottom and the taste permeated throughout the dish. When we asked the server to look at it, he indicated that is how it was supposed to be cooked. We told him it was over cooked and very dry and tasted like burned rice. He grabbed the pan off the table and asked if we wanted it remade. At that point we looked at each other and said just bring us the check. The table next to us ordered the same dish which came out 5 minutes later and it was cooked perfectly. They were very surprised at the way it was handled and offered to share theirs with us. After paying the bill, i asked to speak with the waiter. He apologized for his actions. The whole experience just left a bad taste in my mouth.
Sat at the bar and bantered with Micky, the bartender. The mussels were incredible. Go Raiders!
Delicious food, beautifully presented, attentive service. Food came out timely but enough time in between dishes to show is savor each one. The only suggestion I may make is to reduce the salt a bit. Every dish was good, my favorites were the beet salad and Brazilian seafood stew.
Great location, service and food. Definitely try their grilled octopus and empanadas.
Truly Excellent food, service great.. I was so glad I chose this restaurant !
It seems like every time we visit a tasting room in Paso Robles everyone says their favorite restaurant is LaCosecha. We finally tried it and I totally get why they say that! Everything was impeccable - the food, the cocktails, the ambiance and the service. We were celebrating our anniversary and ordered the Beet Salad, the Pan seared Scallops with mashed potatoes and Mushroom Sauce, and the Pizza Bianco with Burrata, Bacon, Caramelized Shallots and Balsamic Reduction. OH. MY. GOODNESS!! every bite was scrumptious. We ordered cocktails and it took a while to get the, so they paid for one of those AND the next round! That's what I call good service. The Black Manhattan is one of the best cocktails I've ever had. So good. This is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Go! You won't be disappointed.
The great music is what initially attracted us. The food is excellent too.
The sea bass and Brussels sprout salad with crab were outstanding.
Brian, our server was nice and informative. When I was confused about wine, he was gracious enough not to give me a hard time. Good move. Great food. Thanks chef😉
Diverse menu. Service very slow because this place is always busy. It is the loudest restaurant I’ve been to. You really cannot have a conversation without yelling.
Great buratta pizza. It’s just too loud for senior citizens!
Really fun place! Great food and drinks and fun vibe. Would definitely come back.
On our way to Sensorio Art Installation, stopped for dinner. Five years ago we had been to this restaurant. It is still superb, good attentive service, polite interaction. We shared two small plates: Scallops with mashed potatoes, Grilled Octopus with Leeks Potato Pure, plus special of the day Beef ribs. All delicious dishes. Highly recommend this place.
Pizza here is great. Crust and each ingredient is just right and high quality. Menu has a good variety of creative options ranging from salads, pizza, sandwiches, seafood, even a daily paella. Our waitress was a little rough and forgot to serve our beverage, but otherwise everything was stellar.
My only complaint is when I asked for an additional cup of coffee I was responded to with a sarcastic “ you know refills aren’t free “
There is so much to love about La Cosecha that I hesitate to point to factors that distract from the delicious food, fabulous wine menu, professional service, and warm decor (with an outdoor seating bar to boot!). Here are a couple of things that take away a bit of my joy while dining at La Cosecha:
1. Two television screens distract me from my dining partner and my gastronomical experience. Television emits a bunch of low-vibration content in the form of digital bits and bytes while kicking out low-level radiation that, to me, poisons a consciously designed restaurant like LC. I do not want to be deflected by children playing competitive baseball while trying to have a meaningful conversation with my dining partner and focusing on enjoying my well-crafted food and beverages.
2. The talking noise level is only augmented by loud, fast-paced music with even more vocals competing for audio space in the room and for my ability to stay centered. I suggest non-vocal mellow jazz/Latin from the 50s, 60s, and 70s (no "smooth" jazz, please). Perhaps the speakers also need replacing, as bass and mid frequencies tend to use up the life of the speaker cones, leaving only treble, which is highly distracting without its balancing frequencies.
3. The bathroom floor was littered with used paper towels.
I will return to LC for the food and wine experience and recommend it to others, but with caveats reflecting my opinions as enumerated above. Thank you for your consideration!
From the moment we entered the restaurant and were greater by the friendly host to the moment we left, everything about our dining experience was perfect. Our waiter Jason was very attentive and had some nice suggestions for us. I always appreciate when the servers know the menu well, can describe the preparation of each dish in detail and don’t try to oversell the amount of food - which is what we got at this restaurant. The food itself was very flavorful. We had the Brazilian seafood stew (kind of like a cioppino but with coconut and saffron flavor) and the seafood paella. Both were delicious. The seafood in both dishes was fresh. The place is always packed and lively and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food and service (under $100 for 2 people). We will definitely be back.
This is my third visit and it did not disappoint. Food is fresh delicious and our server Kim was awesome. Fresh ceviche and calamari were so good. I will definitely be back
Spectacular food, missed a specialty scotch cocktail I had there a few years back that is no longer on the menu but had a wonderful Manhattan. We were going to a concert so our food service was a bit slow but since the warm up band was not good it all worked out perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant. I brought 3 people with me that had never eaten there and they were "smitten" and can not wait to go back.
Best pizza I’ve had in a long time. My husband’s cerviche was delicious. Our server (a thin young dark haired man) was understanding that we’d had a late wine club event and only needed a light snack and beer (Sprite for me—wasn’t feeling that good). We will be back. Thanks for the welcome.
