La Condessa used to have a great menu. They've shrunk it way down. It's still pricey, but not that inspired of a menu. Hopefully they can rebound after COVID!
Everything was wonderful! Great service! We went on a Saturday evening and had a lovely time.
This was our first meal out in 5 months. Oscar, our server, treated us so well, it made our evening. We were seated outside on the outermost edge of the dining area, even though we were the least accessible, Oscar paid us frequent and delightful attention.
Thank you for entreating us to such a delightful evening. It could have been a felt super weird being out for the first time since the start of Covid-19 but, it wasn’t. It was delightful and welcoming.
Justin - was excellent and spoke to us about our evening at the end, super cool and friendly host.
* There was an interaction where the host/hostess at the front was quite dismissive and short with my Wife and friend; it goes to show how a circumstance can be steered, and even turned around completely, if the start is less than desired. Thank you again, Oscar, Justin, and La Condesa.
Justin & Oscar were outstanding! We always love our time at La Condesa and this time was no exception. The perfect place to bring family.
Looking forward to our next meal with y’all!
It was a rough start getting seated. Took awhile to have anyone to come our table. The waitstaff finally came over and took our order. The waitress was very sweet and attentive once she came over and noticed us not being served. The food was excellent!
Great service and food. The music was too loud in the bar area even after we asked for it to be turned down twice.
It seems very outdated. La condesa used to be super pretty, now it seems old.
Fantastic food and really great service! Not an intimidatingly large menu but plenty of offerings and all of it is phenomenal.
Great outdoor seating, felt comfortably distanced and staff and patrons wore masks appropriately. Food was delicious. Cocktails were awesome. Both were a little slow in their pacing but we were just enjoying the ambience and the time outside!
The food, drinks and ambiance are always fabulous! I highly recommend!
The music was TOO LOUD, impossible to have a conversation. I little overpriced for what it is.
Very limited menu.
The best pina colada I've ever had! Amazing food and atmosphere.
Great meeting spot. Amazing cocktails.
As someone from Mexico, I can tell you that this is authentic (not TexMex) food from various regions of the country. Very well executed concept of interior Mexican food, with great and locally sourced ingredients, and a delicious (albeit limited for now cocktail menu and broad mezcal selection.
Great but wish the menu was less limited... also didn’t think about the prob before of 3 homeless men approaching our table without masks. Next time I’ll ask for a table further away from the street. Server was wonderful!
Amazing brunch, excellent social distancing and Covid mindful. Service was exceptional.
Always have the best time here – good food + good atmosphere + good people all around.
Excellent food, drinks and service
One of Austin’s better foodie experiences
Will be back soon !
I know it is COVID and nothing is normal, but if they declare they are open, then do better.
NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT!!! Best guacamole I’ve ever had. The chicken tacos packed so much flavor and were 10000/10. I will be going back ASAP. Highly highly recommend for a date night or girls night out.
The food was very tasty ... my husband & I, loved the carnitas tacos with habanero salsa. We tried the esquites, with were delicious... we didn’t really like the fideos soup- it had to much tomato paste.. I wish it was more of a broth based soup.
But, overall, we really enjoyed it.
The food was awful and we’ve been coming here for a few years now. We both got two different type of tacos and they tasted like the meat had been cooked and prepared a day ago and then zapped in the microwave. Very chewy and not good. We also received two dishes that had grease splatters on the side of them which turned us off even more. Not likely we’ll be returning for another dine in experience.
Though we came for happy hour and ordered drinks our server failed to tell us we had to walk into the bar for the deal (?) I was under the impression that since there was only outdoor seating that going inside was off limits and that the bar was closed. Only found out after we ate/drank everything. Getting our food and drinks was fast but getting check was slow. Really great food and experience overall just wish happy hour could’ve been more clear
Menu was very limited, they only offer tacos as an entree right now. They were mediocre and came out cold. The place is cute, maybe just have drinks.
The reservation made it seem like happy hour was available at all tables. When I selected my area of dining it said there was 1 special and I clicked happy hour. Once I got the bill I was told happy hour was only at the bar, that was never stated anywhere. Disappointed that wasn’t made clear.
We came here to enjoy the happy hour deal. Upon arrival, we were seated outside. When we asked about happy hour, we were told you needed to be seated at the bar. We asked to be moved to the bar, but they told us there were ‘no available tables.’ There were 2 empty tables for the hour that we stayed. Extremely disappointed with the service in that regard.
Food was good but drinks were weak and very sugary. We got margaritas and watermelon martinis. Both were disappointing.
Thanks to Justin and the La Condesa team for another great dining experience. The food was exceptionally fresh and delicious, the patio was lovely and the hospitality and drinks are the best in downtown Austin. We really enjoyed the mezcal flights.
Fabulous! Food was amazing. Margarita was smooth. Hummus was great!
Even with the new limited menu and amble Covid-preparations, La Condesa continues to be a wonderful experience!
Lovely! Solid spot for Mexican.
Food was very good but not great! The service however was quite lackluster and the restaurant was not anywhere close to being full. I felt the menu was a little confusing as well.
I know we’re spoiled being from SoCal where Mexican food is everywhere but I thought this was all very average.
Food was okay, very overpriced and unnecessarily twisted up, not impressed.
Solid Mexican Gourmet Food in Austin! It was great. We will be coming back
THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD OMG I had the chilequiles for brunch and added avocado, the black bean puree and the tomatillo sauce complimented each other so well!
Made reservations for a Thursday night to meet a friend I hadn't seen in 27 years. Noise level made it a bit difficult to conduct a conversation unless we raised our voices a bit. Food was good, but we received an order we didn't place and therefore had to wait a bit longer for the food we actually ordered. Margaritas might be slightly weaker than those I have had at most other restaurants, but still okay. Thought I had read they had valet parking, but apparently not. Also, pull out your cell phones to light the menus or otherwise you'll struggle just a bit. Nice overall, but not sure I would go back again.
La Condesa is great for a date - just cozy enough yet open enough. The food is fantastic, just expect small portions. Love this place!
Slow service when we were one of ten tables there. Very disappointed.
We went for valentines day!
It was our first time walking in, we got seated within 3 minutes with a reservation! Quick tip: Parking at Austin city hall is $10 flat which made for a 1 minute walk as the restaurant is adjacent to the parking spot.
They had a prior valentines day menu available, we requested the whole menu as well as two drinks, off the normal menu we requested a grapefruit margarita which was topped off with grapefruit garnish, it was delicious.
The first appetizer arrived, it was a large tostada split in two to share with your partner, it contained microgreens, baby shrimp, a type of spicy peanut sauce, it was a a good start to the romantic evening.
We had three tacos that arrived after, it was Barbacoa chopped into tiny pieces on homemade tortillas, it was an elevated version of what I am used to from my home, expected for the price, it came with radishes and lemons with that spicy peanut sauce in the tacos. My girlfriend rated the tacos 6/10 as she loves homemade versus artisan food, I rate them 8/10 cause I loved that damn sauce.
After that they brought the following entree, nothing special, accept it was freshly made with handmade tortillas, we had flautas (Rolled up tortillas with stuffing inside) that included a type of cheese and potato inside with other spices. It came with the spicy peanut sauce, cut green peppers for spice as well as sliced banana peppers, it was delicious.
After this we asked for the check and dessert, the previous plates we're brought in at amazing times, one by one and freshly cooked, it's definitely a shareable menu.
The check arrived first, in a leather pocketbook. The dessert arrived shortly after, a scoop of raspberry sorbet with walnuts, glaze and a chocolate fudge mini cake on the side. Beautiful experience to share after having a 3 course meal with drinks.
The bill came out to $90 with all the food and drinks, after tip it came out to $105, the price was great based off the food, experience, and comfort. <3
