Reserved during SXSW and accommodated 8+ even though we were late. The bartender, our servers were all polite, friendly. Food came out quick but paced well. We were stuffed. Filling for tapas.
Worth SXSW'ers to go take a short cab ride down lamar to go here.
Love the contemporary take on Mexican food especially the masa & ceviches & jujube bread pudding!
Three of us enjoyed Sunday Brunch with a tasty Watermelon Martini and Bloody Mary's. We started with the Octopus Appetizer which was cooked perfectly. All of the entrees were delicious and the Duck Fat Potatoes that came with the Huevos Condesa were outstanding. Room was light and bright. Service was attentive without hovering.
Very limited menu, food was ok, not bad just nothing special. Cocktails were very good & our server was great
The food was amazing!! Very creative twists to traditional Mexican food. The ambiance is very relaxing. The service was amazing. You definitely need to try this place.
Really delicious place !! Must try the chilaquiles and the chicken tacos.
I really like the atmosphere, the guacamole, and the drinks. But the menu could use a little attention. Not enough variety in my opinion- as far as price and food. I miss the tacos that used to be on the menu. The happy hour tacos are great. But overall I enjoy the place.
Overall our waiter was great. I docked him one star for pushing an expensive appetizer right at the start ( a pet peeve of mine). Once he recognized that we were capable of making our own choices, he backed off to answering our questions (a big plus for me). Great restaurant!
Excellent service and delicious food. Best Margaritas!
The capirotada was outstanding! It was our first visit, brunch was delicious. We will definitely go back to try their other dishes.
Looking back, I don't remember the service. I just remembered getting to have a conversation for as long as we wanted before having to go back to work. Our glasses were refilled without asking, the bill came without looking for it, and everything was cleared before it got in the way. Just great.
Great! Recommend for any night
Received a plate I didn’t order. He had more salt than typical .
Great food, friendly staff, excellent presentation of dishes by servers.
Only semi-minor thing to improve? Aim to keep an uncluttered table.
Anyways, great experience over all. A place I'll constantly recommend!
I have never been disappointed by this restaurant. Amazing food, craft cocktails - unique and fun and a staff that is always on top of it. One of my favorite Austin restaurants.
We were there to celebrate two birthdays at the same time and we received superb service, excellent food recommendations, experienced awesome ambiance, food presentation was beautiful. Definitely will go and take friends and family again .
This place never disappoints! I have been a customer since they opened, and it is by far my favorite restaurant in Austin.
We were seated quickly with our reservation. Waitstaff was attentive. Great food and super fresh.
One of my favs!!! My sister and I chose our hotel in location to this restaurant. Clean simple food that will blow your mind. Must try the watermelon martini with fresh juices and St. Germaine!
First time there for us and it was a great overall experience. The Pescado tacos were fantastic!
Excellent as always. The Acapulco CEVICHE is outstanding.
Fun concept. Not a huge food menu, but everything we had was delicious!! Fantastic guacamole. For sure get the fish taquitos, they are fantastic!! Everything on the menu is designed to share so we had a ton of food and left all super full and very satisfied
Enjoyed a birthday celebration with family at La Condesa. Good food , good company, we’ll be back.
I've been to La Condessa many times and loved it but the brunch was not nearly as good as the regular menu-very few options. Restaurant and bathroom not well kept. Would skip it!
Be careful sitting outside with the birds hanging out overhead. I got two presents before I move indoors.
Food is tasty and servers are nice and helpful
I had Huevas Condesa and thought it was fabulous. My wife had the shrimp dish which she was told was not very spicy and she could not finish...too spicy. Waitress was attentive and friendly but menu knowledge was lacking somewhat. I would go back...I like spicier food but I will be alone.
Good food but restaurant was freezing cold and waitress was condescending and pompous.
Service was extremely slow and one of the 4 dinner plates was delivered 10 minutes after the other 3 meals and no apologies or credits on bill after spending 150 dollars on drinks, apps and main courses...Won't be going there again with my friends or out of town guests.
La Condesa was amazing! The service was excellent and the food was delicious!
love this restaurant!
we are from boston and overtime we visit austin we make sure we have at least one meal at la condesa!
our party was a bit difficult and the wait staff just rolled with it!!
We had a great meal here! Food was fantastic and the staff were very kind and offered awesome recommendations. We are looking forward to coming back!
Great variety of dining choices with small sharable plates! Go with a group to really experience lots of dishes and flavors. Some spicy salsas are too hot to handle, but if you are open to trying, they are very calorie worthy!
So good we went back the next night too!
Easily the best authentic Mexican cuisine in Austin. Recommend the Barbacoa Taquitos and the salsas.
My husband and I had a great meal at La Condesa. The patio was great for outdoor dining on a beautiful day, we had a couple of cocktails but the La Condesa Margarita was our favorite! Really enjoyed the tuna ceviche as well as the masa dish (we got the one with mushrooms).
Thoroughly enjoyed a simple, quiet Saturday brunch. The chilaquiles were absolutely delicious!
Our first Visit to Austin was topped off with some delicious foods. We ordered a couple things so we could try different dishes. All three plates were flavorful. The Acapulco ceviche fresh and delicious and they accommodated my no avocado request. The octopus was so tender and the lamb barbacoa taquito hearty and filling. There were two so we could split that order. Top it off with the flourless chocolate cake dessert and you will be happy happy!!
We have always liked La Condesa in spite of it's limited menu, because the food was very good and the margaritas were great. Since our last visit, La Condesa has changed it's menu. Unfortunately, it was not for the better. To be fair, we were there for the lunch menu, so I'm not sure if the dinner menu was as badly impacted. The tortas (sandwiches) are pretty bad now. They tout the home made bread, but that doesn't make up for the soggy tortilla chips stuffed into the sandwich or the overall lackluster taste. Their great soup is not longer offered, but the ceviche is pretty soupy, so perhaps that makes up for it. Good news is that the tacos and margaritas are still very good.
This is a truly mixed review, mostly good things to say but some not. First, the good. The menu is creative and interesting. They seem to pay a lot of attention to using good ingredients and nothing pre-prepared (they don't even serve cherries in the bar because they are "preserved"). The cochinita pibil was tasty. The guacamole we chose was excellent, as were several of the different salsas. The drink menu is interesting with some very creative drinks using tequila and mezcal. Our server was very nice, attentive and helpful. We were seated on time according to our reservation. Now the weak points: portions were fairly small and prices are moderately high. My main complaint is that the dishes were delivered to our table of 4 helter skelter, not at the same time, in fact several minutes apart. The server explained that their dishes were designed to share, as a justification for the delays. OK, I get the share-able plates thing but some of their plates really aren't that share-able. And trying to share the pork dish, for example, between four people gives everyone one small taco. And then you wait for something else to show up. So, the bottom line experience was fragmented and much slower than seemed reasonable. At the end, appetizers, 4 bar drinks and 4 share-able plates cost $140. I never have a problem spending $ on good food and drink, but this experience left me and my guests less than impressed. Kinda sad to say that because the food itself was quite good.
