Great wine bar with delicious food. Service was very nice and patient.
Excellent service and a solid wine list make this a great place for a date, drinks or a romantic evening out.
Food was eh
Just a wonderful place .. Excellent food and the fact that they had my fav wine helped:)
Caleb and the whole staff are amazing. Service is exceptional and food just keeps getting better.
Been here twice and love the ambiance and the staff's judgement-free service and recommendations. Take the wine-lover in your family - he or she will be impressed.
Amazing as always. The wines continually change and never disappoint; the food is a consistent and excellent complement.
Went during happy hour and was seated right away in the back lounge without any troubles. Service was great and the wines were delicious! Great ambience, will come back.
Went in for a small dinner with some friends on crowded Thursday night - we were seated in their cosy quiet back room. Loved the rabbit! Great wine pairings!
I love La Compagnie. I've been there several times, but this last time I brought two friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. The staff is all super knowledgable about the wine and food. They had excellent recommendations. Everyone is lovely and professional. The ambiance is fantastic, dark, quiet, cozy, and romantic. I love it here.
Amazing wine knowledge. Excellent food pairing
First the good news - staff is super friendly, very helpful, quite entertaining. Place is comfortable. If you are in the little italy area, great place for a glass of wine. Now the bad news... anything truly delicious is only available by the bottle. All the wines by the glass are young (and a bit over-priced, of course, you are in Manhattan). The appetizers weren't very appetizing, unfortunately. Main courses were more of a hit, the rabbit was cooked perfectly, the pasta was sublime. Another oddity ... no coffee. So, if you want an expresso, you have to go around the block to little italy.
If you come here only for wine, it's fine. Food and the menu have a long way to go - we ordered the fish (cod) which came as a porridge and was barely edible and the chicken which was served in a small cup as if it was pulled pork. Both dishes were served with 4+ baskets of bread and little else. Very disappointing food options (and carb intensive), but wines were good.
Outstanding wine selection, really good small bites, friendly staff who were extremely helpful in selecting wine. I would strongly recommend this for anyone in the area looking for a wine bar with unique choices and good service.
I rarely review restaurants, but will make an exception for this one. Everything we had was quite good. Our waiter, who seemed to also perhaps be an owner, seemed quite proud of the food. The octopus was excellent; the bread was exceptional. It was perhaps our best meal in SoHo.
I would describe the offerings as small plates. We ordered two appetizers and two of the smaller main courses, and it was plenty.
Wonderful selection of wines and small plates. I really enjoyed the rabbit. My date had the cheese plate which is also recommended. The bar keep was more than generous in providing multiple tastings before I made my selection.
After we were seated in an out of the way table, while the server kept refilling our water, we felt forgotten and spent a total of five hours in the restaurant (an enjoyable five hours) before I had to seek out someone to obtain my check. Maybe just a busy night? I would return.
Wissam is a really good bartender! The place is nice and was pretty crowdy for a Sunday night. Will definitely come back
My favorite wine bar in NYC, excellent food as well!
From the nice view of the surrounding buildings to the nice decor and amazing wine list, this place has it all. The name lie, it's supernaturally good.
Amazing team - they will do anything to accommodate you!
I have been to this place many times since it opened. The wines are amazing, the restaurant itself is so comfortable and intimate. We had 5 people and it was perfect. The music would have been turned down a tad. The menu has changed, but always has exquisitely prepared food. I have come back time and time again. Love the ambience, decor, service and the food.
In spite of the broken air conditioner on an unseasonably warm day, the hostess was super nice and our server was great. Delicious food, killer wine list, no doubt.
Great chilled bar for apps and wine with friends! Lovely food and wine, nice setting and great music. Bit too much attitude from the staff taking the bookings at the entrance but lovely French waiter made up for it.
Great place and great wine list nicely priced. Amazing service by Fabien's team. Always a pleasure to go there.
Extensive wine selection and knowledgeable staff in a warm environment. My only complaint would be the food portions, which are tiny and a little overpriced.
Generally excellent though very small portions relative to price.
Nice spot, nice wine but really pricey. The wine was really good but the food came in small portion despite the really high price
Good for drinks only
Favorite go-to place because of the wine selections, and also the brown butter....omg.....the chef is really proud to tell you all about it. Every bite of food I've had here, and I've had probably 1/2 the menu so far, has been delightful. Highly recommend the meat and cheese tray, every combo I tried was perfect.
Seriously. Get the brown butter.
It was a nice place for a drink on Friday eve. I enjoyed the house red and the scallops and burrata.
So accommodating as our numbers grew. Many wine gems and expert advice. Thank you Caleb for so graciously dealing with all our never ending orders.
Chicken mousse was to die for, with perfect husk-cherry jam alongside. Heirloom tomato plate was also excellent.
Wine by glass list was smallish, but very inventive and eclectic, although also fairly pricey.
Service, however, was extraordinarily inattentive. I left after those two plates, having given up on getting another glass of wine or a chance to order a final plate.
Loved this place, fabulous wines especially the Merlot.
Acclaimed sommelier Caleb Ganzer and virtuoso chef Eric Bolyard combine to lift a small plates wine bar to the heights. Caleb's Reims experience bears fruit (sorry) in the extraordinary Ellner Reserve Brut poured en Magnum, while his suggested Domaine Gauby, Les Calcinaires, was the perfect accompaniment to both Boylard's sumptuously silken scallop crudo as well as a perfectly piquant, equally silken white gazpacho. But the star of the show, at least at this sitting, was Boylard's riff on beef tartare, knife cut to bright red beefiness and glorious tenderness and dressed out with a "Basque Relish" which translates to stirred through with vinegary pickled guindillas and plated with a simple surround of agretti (Monksbeard here, "land seaweed" in Japan), the crisply grassy Tuscan veggie that evokes rosemary fronds or pine needles on the plate. This and a plate of wild boar cacciatorini and cheeses made it a joy to linger over a perfect Loire summer red, La Clef de Sol from La Grange Tiphaine. The wine and this place were both new to us but we'll go back to both.
If you like wine and good food, you can put this restaurant on your favorite list. It s a wonderful place which combines an incredible list of wine (for all kind of budgets) with great food in form of tapas based on french cuisine .
It s nice to see that someone is doing things nicely and not just to make as much profit as they can.
Congratulations to the owner!
From the amazing somms to the delicious food options, we had a great time here. It is an authentic wine bar, one not flooded with overly priced mediocre food, but a well curated menu and obviously amazing wine list with great wines by the glass to choose from. so impressed, will be a new regular.
This is a great place to meet friends after work - especially if you are just meeting for a drink, and maybe a small bite to eat. Amazing wines, nice atmosphere, great small dishes - super knowledgeable staff - very polite
Extraordinary experience with guidance by sommelier Caleb. He guided us with great pairings and is well- versed in his knowledge of the wines and regions of France.
The cheeses, small plates, oysters, breads and olives were truly an evening in France.
Definitely worth visiting before this hidden gem is discovered by the rest of New York!!
It's hard to go wrong with any of the dishes here. They were all tasty (our group had 90% of their menu) and the 2 bottles of wine we had were delicious! However, the food portions are tiny but pricey, so I don't think it's a great dinner location. I didn't even realize how long we'd been there, but after a couple hours we were sort of forgotten about. After 2 bottles of wine I would've loved a couple more water refills, to no avail. Indulge in a tasty snack, savor your bottle of wine and move on to your next location.
my friend and I arrived for our 8:30 reservation and almost walked out because everything about the place looked and felt in disarray. the place was about half full and there was only one server (who I think is also the owner) so everyone was clamoring for him but he is only one guy. we were seriously contemplating leaving and going elsewhere but then he seated us in a quiet back room and we ordered wine and a cheese plate (which was delicious) and we were beguiled by the place. I would come here again for quiet time to talk and spend a leisurely evening. I would also try a little more of their limited menu the next time. nights recommended: Mon-Wednesday. On the weekends this place has to be a zoo.
