La Cocina Oaxaquena, which is located in Seattle, Washington, is focused on serving Mexican cuisine that tastes homemade. In addition, the restaurant boasts an impressive list of original cocktails, including those made with tequila and mescal infusions. The staff at La Cocina Oaxaquena believes in delivering taste and quality to its customers.
The food menu at La Cocina Oaxaquena keeps things simple, as the chefs have mastered a small list of favorites including the quesadillas fritas and the memelitas, which are tortillas topped with pork gravy. Many of the favorites at the restaurant are topped with the signature queso Oaxaqueno.
Had a great first dining experience here Saturday night with a group of friends. Awesome service and food and great atmosphere. Highly recommend. I had the steak asada tacos and they were delicious! Huge outdoor dining patio and yummy drinks as well!
The menu choices were great; unusual offerings. Mole pork tamales wrapped in banana leaves and cheese enchiladas were very tasty; several interesting seafood specialties. Wait staff were friendly and accommodating. Beverages were very good.
Simple yet elegant. Always a go-to when we don't know what we want to eat. Been here twice this week!
I have always found the food and service to be excellent. This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Don't miss the Bartender's Margarita!
Great place to hang out and enjoy some good authentic Mexican food. My wife and I sat at the bar and we're well taken care of by Michael! Thanks for the great service!
pro-tip. Sit up at the bar by the cooking area to watch the ladies cooling and working their magic.
I went here for my birthday dinner with friends. It was a lot of fun. We had reservations and they had a table for us outside on the front patio which was really nice. Service was great. The food was really delicious with good portion sizes. Drink and food were a little expensive so maybe the happy hour would be a better time to go. Overall I really liked it.
I went there with a group of friends prior to seeing a show at the Paramount. The food was great and the service was quick. Would definitely go there again
We sat outside on a very warm evening and enjoyed the people watching on Capitol Hill.
The food and outside seating was great! The environment was as equally uppity as it was casual. We could never really tell who are server was, I guess that was nice so we could ask anyone for something - however I felt we were neglected a little bit, maybe there were understaffed that evening - it did get swiftly packed all of a sudden. However they gave me a free birthday shot on my birthday!
*they have a nice self-serve salsa bar, the bowls are the size of ketchup bowls.
Amazing space! Smaller portions which were fine with me but people with big appetites may want to order more.
I've searched Seattle for authentic Mexican food, and this was by far the closest I've found. The make-your-own salsa bar was great, and all of our meals were fantastic!
Most Mexican eateries tend to be very Tex-Mex -- but this place was *authentic* to genuine Oaxacan food and it was *awesome*!! The sangria was to die for and the ceviche was great. I had to oxtail and I kept thinking about it throughout the rest of the night's celebration. Definitely would go back again. Plus, it helps that they are right next to a parking lot -- since it is Capitol Hill, parking is scarce.
Solid Margaritas for a good price. Cool DIY salsa bar. Food is good enough to come back for
We went around 11:30am and restaurant has a few individuals in it. Server was attentive, the food had great flavor. I ordered the costillas and my wife ordered the caldo de res. Wife said she would definitely come back again.
Service excellent. Reservation honored on time. Menu OK. Food came quickly. But, food was lacking. "Off" flavor to rice. Bland "factory" food could not be enhanced by salsa bar. Food was warm at best, need some oven time. Low to moderate prices, but no real value. An OK place which needs some attention to the quality of the food.
Mole is to die for and margaritas are heavy handed. What more could you ask for? Only complaint is flour tortillas instead of corn. What's with that?
Empanadas de tostinas were great, so was the bisteces de oaxaquena. Good portions sizes, the flan was amazing!
We enjoyed La Cocina Oaxaquena before a show at the Paramount. The service was good and quick, and our dishes were good, especially the fish tacos. Their salsa bar has good variety too and who can beat chips & salsa?
The mole sauce was outstanding!!! Wait staff very attentive and gracious!! We will come again. I have already recommended La Cocina Oaxaquena to others!
I'm originally from Texas and happened to stumble upon this Authentic Mexican food restaurant and I can honestly say, that it is some of the best Mexican food I've eaten in a while. Great ambiance, margaritas and located in Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Great chips! Margaritas were delicious and strong. Mexican Mule was very good too. Carne Asada and fish taco were both excellent
It was a lady minute reservation, but glad I did. Fid was excellent. Habanero infused lime juice! That Margherita was great. Tables are tight, but ample space to eat. Good prices. Good guacamole. Great place to go
More of a bar with food than a restaurant. Service was slow, food portions were small. So many better spots to eat. Skip this one.
This place had nothing that amazed in particular. The food was quite good and the hours are great for stopping by whenever but the atmosphere and service were nothing to write home about. The pricing was a little high on a few items but for the most part was fair. Many different margaritas and they are not stingy with the alcohol. I'd recommend this as a great quick pick or backup restaurant but I don't think I'd make this a top choice for a special occasion. Casual and comfortable.
Went with a group of 13, had great service, and delicious food! We loved the experience and would highly recommend it!
Had a group of 18 people for a birthday dinner. They were very accommodating and the food was pretty good. I'd go back again.
as others have commented, the mole was great. good value all around
Service was friendly from the Bar to the Restaurant and efficient. The food was good solid Mexican. Not a huge menu, but that is a sign that the items they serve are consistently good. The value of getting a great meal in a great location is huge. The house margarita was perfect... not too sweet and strong enough to taste the tequila.
My biggest complaint would be that they don't offer flour tortillas. The food was so-so.
I've been several times and have never been disappointed. The food tastes authentic and it won't break the bank.
We ate here before seeing a show at the Paramount and it was wonderful. We happened to be there during happy hour so were able to try several different entrees. Would highly recommend.
La Cocina Oaxaquena was a vibrant spot to eat outdoors and take in Seattle on a Friday night. Skyscrapers light up the night to the west while Pine Street, mixed with a constant stream of people and slow crawling traffic becomes a red and white ribbon of lights moving between downtown and Capitol Hill. Outdoor seating sits on the corner with Melrose Ave facing busy bars, restaurants, coffee shops, retail shops and buzzing sidewalks. We were seated quickly with our waiter seconds behind us. Looked over the menu, asked the waiter a couple of questions and ordered with ease. It's an active street scene while waiting for food, which was a variety of taco's, chips and guacamole and a couple of Mojita's which were surprisingly spicy! Fun.
La Oaxaquena..just okay. A LOT of promise but nothing notable about the Oaxaquen food.
Would LOVE it to have been CREATIVE Oaxaquen food, especially given the great location.
Fun and enjoyable...a tasty neighborhood gem. Loved the sangria and homemade tortillas! Will be back for more.
There was nothing specifically wrong with this place. It's just that Mezcalaria Oaxaqua already does it better.
Good food and drinks, got outdoor seating on a summer night
Moved from So. California and have been on the hunt for decent (have lowered the bar) Mexican food in Seattle. Tried La Cocina Oaxaquena and it exceeded our expectations for Mexican food in Seattle! We have finally found a place that we could go to for GREAT Mexican food!
Reasonable price, great location, a lengthy menu, and food is presented nicely.
Service was great, food was great, price was great.
