This is a great fine dining restaurant in Saint Augustine Beach in the Castillo Real Resort. The cuisine, appetizers, desserts, and wine selections are magnificent, and the service is very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I am a frequent patron of this wonderful restaurant.
If you're looking for an elegant place to have dinner, this is the place. The rack of lamb and crab stuffed grouper were amazing. The service was excellent. It should be noted that they do not sell spirits, but they have a very nice beer and wine selection. We were just there and under Covid19. Everything was perfect. Be sure to take your mask and be prepared to have your temperature taken at the door. Our next trip to St Augustine Beach we will definitely go again.
Great service. Not stuffy and in your face gave us privacy through dinner and visited at appropriate times. FABULOUS meal. Generous portions and wonderful flavors.
We enjoyed our dinner at La Cocina. I was just a little surprised it was located inside of Embassy suites hotel and not a stand alone location. The staff tied to put us at a small table initially which we were not happy about since it would have been too crowed. We said we would not stay if we were seated there so they did offer us a better table and were we happy to stay. Staff was pleasant and the food was yummy.
We had a great time! Fantastic all around. Katya was great, along with the rest of the staff showing amazing teamwork.
Service (Constance) and food were exceptional. Great Lobster Bisque, delicious Baked Brie, refreshing Pear Salad, superior Crabmeat Stuffed Grouper, Creme Brulee to finish a perfect evening!
We enjoyed this place tremendously! We had a short little get away just the hubby and i. We went in Saturday night upon our arrival and we were highly disappointed because they were full and said we needed a reservation because of limited seating, which was understandable due to the size of the place and “Covid” . So after we left i jumped on the website and snagged us a reservation for the following night! It was nice!! The food and service was great. I had filet mignon and it was fabulous! Had a little fancy feel to it!
Wonderful dining experience! Delicious food and attentive service
La Cocina was EXCELLENT! Would highly recommend for their food, presentation, taste, and terrific service. Sometimes you’re not sure if a restaurant in an area hotel can really deliver the goods. La Cocina did that and then some. Don’t miss this one ! Xoxo
The chartreuse board with the witches but they left a few items off the platter that were advertised on the menu. Lobster Bisque with creamy but lacked lobster flavor. My wife's seafood fettuccine I'm in abundance of seafood and was very delicious. My full rack of lamb cooked to a perfect medium-rare but the meat lacked salt and the demi glaze needed more Port are red wine. The bread and my wife's house salad or also very good. Service was excellent and well paste. They were in no rush and allowed us to enjoy our meal.
Small restaurant so not a lot of room but we were luckily seated in a nice corner. Very sweet staff. Food was amazing (a little pricey) and the Anniversary dessert was a nice little surprise at the end.
We had one of the best dinner we have ever had! The chef split the salad and entree for us and it was plenty for us to share. Wait staff very friendly. Cozy atmosphere ! We will definitely be back!!
La Cocina is a wonderful fine dining restaurant. My husband and I have eaten here on special occasions several times. Think continental cuisine with a Colombian twist. Escargot with a slightly spice bustter sauce, for example. Great wine list and great service. A wonderful experience overall!
The food was excellent. Lobster bisque, Mediterranean salad and the crab stuffed grouper with a Moscato wine. Great flavor, served at the perfect temperature. The portions are large - we enjoyed dinner so much we didn’t have room for desert. Service was outstanding - attentive without being intrusive. Timing was perfect. Just note that this restaurant is within a hotel - not in its own building.
My husband loves escargot and lamb chops which is hard to find on most menus. He loved it! I had a beef braised ravioli with sauteed spinach, it was very good. Both large portions but a little on the pricey side. Ravioli $22 and his rack of lamb was $36. That being said, the service, atmosphere, food quality and presentation, make the overall experience well worth it! We were there for our anniversary. Not many restaurants at the beach actually have award winning chefs, they do! For anyone visiting the area who wants a romantic getaway, the hotel is beautiful, quiet and elegant, I used to stay here several years ago.
What A Surprise! Who would know that St. Augustine Beach would have such a GEM! Let me characterize the experience by using the Old adage of "Never judge a book by it's cover".
The drive at night to the hotel wasn't so bad from St. Augustine Old Town, as you would assume the dark roads lead up to the beach side drive that is well illuminated.
The old hotel where La Cocina is located is somewhat dated but thank god that the restaurant itself is a totally separate business because the Chef knows his business which is well prepared dishes that are well combined in flavor.
The restaurant itself has to deal with the decor of the hotel. It seems like you walk into a good local latin American restaurant, nothing fancy, everything clean, the waitstaff very attentive and kind.
The food is well presented and well prepared but what is most impressive is the combination of flavors and the treatment on each plate. We tried the Beef Carpaccio which was well presented and flavorful with an extra dash of citrus flavor that gave it a very nice touch.
The Chicharron was a surprise since there was the slightest touch of sweetness on the outside that balanced with the Saltiness nicely. It was done to its point. The Yuca cake and avocado mousse was an excellent contrast.
The Seared Duck Breast plate worked well together. The chef's seasoning on the Quinoa and the wild mushrooms was remarkable in that some higher end restaurants will not season the items and place a sauce on the side as if a Sauce is flavor for food. Equal care was placed on both that only enhanced the duck breast and sauce on the side.
I absolutely guarantee that my next visit to St. Augustine I will return to La Cocina, and I will recommend it to anyone that asks where to eat a nicely prepared and fulfilling dinner.
p.s. The creme brulee was excellent!
Thank you for making my anniversary weekend more memorable!
The service and food was very good but the noise level was a huge distraction for the evening. It was difficult to care on a conversation.
Food was very good and staff members were pleasant. Atmosphere was quiet allowing easy table conversation.
Food is outstanding. Service like no other.
Also, La Cocina cater my son's wedding and the guests can't stop saying how good the food was. We recommend La Cocina be it for a dinner for two, a Wedding Rehearsal or to cater a wedding. They exceed all out expectations. Thank you to Norberto and his awesome staff.
La Cocina is by far the best restaurant in St,Augustine . The food presentation is spectacular as is the quality and taste. That take special care during this challenging time.
We were celebrating a birthday. Everything was scrumptious. The free birthday desert was delightful as well as thoughtful.
Food is always great and so is Jorge, our waiter. The entire staff are always professional and friendly.
Service was excellent and the food very tasty. Varied and interesting menu selections.
We went to celebrate my birthday. Everything was delicious. Especially the mushroom tartare, the pork belly, pear salad and braised short rib. The service was amazing. We will definitely come back
Great meal and great friendly service. Will definitely recommend and be back
It was way too hot
I had the Seafood Fettuccine and my wife had the Filet. Both were excellent. We always pick this restaurant for special occasions and have never been disappointed. The Chocolate Cheese Cake was out of this world.
Great appetizer selection, great taste. Will definitely recommend to eat at the cocina.
amazing dinner. Greek salad was special, sat outside in courtyard very comfortable despite August weather. Crab stuffed Grouper was great, whole experience was very enjoyable, definitely one of St. Augustine's better restaurants. highly recommend
Our third visit, all great, this was the best yet
It was so good to go out for dinner and feel safe! We dined al fresco and it was a pleasant experience!
Excellent service!! Felt very safe and welcoming during COVID. The food as always delicious!!!
Beer was room temperature, desert was mediocre, lamb was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Shrimp penne was plentiful but the sauce lacked flavor -no depth , it was very slightly spicy but no real flavor.
Jorge is the best!👍😎
Recently spent a weekend in St. Augustine Beach and La Cocina was thankfully recommended by a friend. The restaurant is located in a small hotel and doesn't have a ton of ambiance nor a view of the ocean (a view of the hotel pool instead) but the food and service were AMAZING from appetizer through dessert. We started with the mussel appetizer and could have easily made that a meal, light flavors, perfect sized mussels and a broth that would go well over any pasta! My wife had the stuffed Grouper and I the somewhat spicy seafood pasta, again, neither dish disappointed. I would rate my pasta dish as one the top 5 I have ever eaten and I have eaten all over world! Not only was the food DELICIOUS but the portions were more than generous as well. We also tried an absolutely delightful dessert, their spin on bananas foster made with pineapple and served with ice cream. Once again our palates were treated to a tasty delight! I can't wait to go back to this area again in the fall with friends for a wedding and take them there!
The food is amazing, great chef.
It’s a small menu but has a little of everything and prepared in a very authentic way.
The seafood fettuccine picante sauce is delicious.
Our waitress, Gina, was superb and very attentive to every detail.
Social distancing, wearing masks and outside seating.
My wife and I had the crab stuffed grouper and it was phenomenal. Stayed at the hotel for two days and ate breakfast and lunch there.
The food was exceptional. My husband had the lamb chops and I had the ravioli. If I lived nearby I wold go there regularly. Highly recommend.
I have lived in Saint Augustine since 1982 and this is my favorite restaurant.
Excellent food,service, and ambience.
Very good value and no corkage fee makes it perfect.
Ate outdoors. It was great - quiet, soft breeze and comfortable . Food was especially good.
