La Cocina International Restaurant
Our favorite restaurant on the island , especially on Thursday when you can bring in your own bottle of wine with no corkage fee. Recommend the grouper stuffed with crab
We dined here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was a fixed menu with several selections. I chose the surf and turf. The tenderloin melted in my mouth. My husband chose the lamb chops and they were equally delicious. The only let down was dessert. Their version of carrot cake was dry but the apple crisp was good. I would definitely recommend them. The servers were so attentive and pleasant.
The vibe was very nice and relaxing-very cozy setting. Our waiter was very attentive.
Caprice salad was a huge disappoint as was the desert.
Soup and main dishes were delicious.
For it being Thanksgiving, we did not feel rushed.
Thanksgiving. We had eaten there a couple of years ago for Thanksgiving and had a great experience. This year the food was not very good. It tasted premade. We eat there several times a year and were disappointed in our meal.
Thanksgiving lunch was amazing! Great fixed price 4 course menu was fabulous. I think they knocked it out of the park each course. Delightful soups, salads and main course - I think we both ate every bite. A nice bottle of wine too - while our original choice wasn’t available, an alternate selection from the same region was excellent and even came in the same price range - maybe even a dollar or two less. Dessert and coffee rounded out a great afternoon. Our waiter was also quite personable- and although the courses were presented without much downtime in between, we did not feel rushed. A plus - thanks for making Thanksgiving so enjoyable.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here. 4 courses to choose from. Food & service was outstanding! I’ve been coming to St. Augustine Beach for 30 years and sorry I waited this long to try this gem of a place. It’s inside the Casa Real Hotel.
Amazing food and service.
This has become one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions.
Great food, service and ambience! Our 2nd time back and just as great!
The food was great—the service very prompt—we would definitely recommend this restaurant again— unfortunately we live across the state in Tampa and won’t be able to visit for a while
Good was great...they were out of a number of menu items
If that hadn’t happened , it would be all 5 stars
My boyfriend and I went on sunday towards the end of the night and everything about the restaurant was amazing. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was tasty as the presentation was beautiful. Definitely will be recommending.
We had a wonderful and delicious experience last Sunday at our after wedding lunch. We had a party of 12 and the food and service were just amazing. Some favorites were the crab and avocado salad, pear salad, crab cakes and the salmon...sooo good! Our servers and the service in general could not have been better. They helped make our day just perfect! We can't wait to go back and try dinner next time!
Lovely place and great food!
This is one of our favorite restaurants.....period. Consistently high quality service, ambience and flavor.
Always an excellent experience
Service is great, new menu offers new choices.
Cozy and intimate we go there regularly and always enjoy
A few weeks ago, I had ordered the salmon which was not edible. This time, I ordered the salmon again. I was totally satisfied with my dinner. The restaurant staff was also very considerate with our check. s
La Cocina International has always been my favorite restaurant in St. Augustine. The quality of their food and service is usually unparalleled. As a result, I made a reservation there for a celebratory birthday lunch with friends on Tuesday, Nov 12th.
I/we was/were very disappointed with their overall service. It was painfully slow, and the restaurant only had three other occupied tables during the 90+ minutes we were there. In addition, the quality and quantity of the food served was very inconsistent compared to countless previous visits. Of the five lunch entrees ordered, one portion was surprisingly small (the avocado and shrimp salad) in comparison to the other four entrees served. A second entree (the crab cakes) was remarkably scant on the amount of crab used in the cakes. They were mostly filler and had very little taste of crab.
Although all 5 attendees are local residents, two of my guests had never been to LCI. Hopefully, they will be willing to try it again. I look forward to having a better experience as I am used to experiencing at LCI the next time I make a reservation with them.
Restaurant wasn't busy. Our 4 seated table was next to a large party group who were loud thus we couldn't hear each other. Poor seating arrangements. Second, the blackened salmon was filled with the brown inner skin..so gross and inedible..ended up with a bland plate of vegetables which we paid for and went home hungry.
We were a bit concerned that no one was there when we arrived for our 7pm reservation, but our concern was unfounded. One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Beautifully presented and excellent, but not hovering service. And to top it off, we were treated to a completely unexpected dessert with "Happy Anniversary" spelled out in a yummy puree on the plate. Highly recommend!
The food was excellent; the entire staff very friendly; and it was good value for what it cost. I will definitely go back. It's an added bonus that I can walk there from my home.
We had amazing food and service. It was a perfect place for our anniversary dinner. The chicharonne and Lobster bisque were amazing as was the penne pasta and our desserts. I highly recommend this for your next date night.
We were overly impressed, once again. Probably our favorite restaurant in St. Augustine. The crab cakes over platanoes, the osso bucco and the rack of lamb were some of the best-ever. The service was impeccable. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff as well as to the servers.
One of our favorite restaurants especially for special events. Our dinner and service were exceptionally fine. And a surprise desert for us to share celebrating our grandsons visit from Paris
This is my favorite place to go for a special occassion. It is alaays wonderful!
La Cocina is a great restaurant, especially to celebrate a special occasion.
Fantastic overall experience, as usual. No one does rack of lamb as well and the salmon was outstanding. Knowledgeable, attentive and witty server. I can’t wait to visit again!
My husband and I have been dinning at La Cocina International Restaurant for many years. We cannot say enough great things about it.
La Cocina International Restaurant is an excellent fine dining restaurant on Beach A1A inside the Castillo Real Hotel and Resort in Saint Augustine Beach, FL. The cuisine is superb, the service is very attentive, friendly, and the Waiter staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Chef Norberto has a great and ever-changing menu, and always has the best daily specials and freshest fish. The wine menu selection is broad and features both international and West Coast vineyards, which will complement any meal selection. This restaurant is very popular with the local residents of St. Augustine Beach/Area. Parking is easy and dress is business casual. I return here very often.
Good restaurant and food - wine list modestly priced and food was ok.
La Cocina was a fabulous dining experience. Fantastic dishes like the short ribs and hanger steak with Chimichurri sauce were outstanding.
Expansive wine list to choose from.
Food was fine, service good but a bit slow. Very nice place for a restaurant in a hotel.
Always a great meal and good service.
This is our favorite restaurant in St.Augustine. Perfect in every way!
We ate here for an anniversary dinner and would definitely return. It's a small restaurant which manages to not feel overcrowded. Excellent food with a selection appropriate for the size of the business. Attentive service without being bothersome. It was a good value for the ambiance and the meal.
Very nice ambiance, it was quiet and the server was excellent and knowledgeable about menu. We had escargot which was very good, lobsters bisque soup, fresh spring salad and Salmon, Grouper and Filet. Ended the meal with creme brûlée.
I already cannot wait for my next visit to La Cocina International Restaurant! Since moving to Saint Augustine two years ago, we have missed the finer dining of Providence, Rhode Island; Boston, Mass.; Manhattan, but we have found the equivalent at La Cocina in the Castillo Real Hotel on A1A. I have not had duck since moving to Auggie, but got brave and ordered it here. It was magnificent! Little medallions of duck breast sitting in quinoa and wild mushrooms with blackberry and ginger port reduction. It was absolutely delicious. As there was so much, I got to enjoy the "left overs" the next night at home! Of course, my appetizer of Portabella Carpaccio with Peruvian drop peppers, olive aioli, pesto and shaven parmesan cheese helped to fill me up. Again, absolutely delicious. How the chef was able to sliver the portabella like that... Hubby started with Mussels Chablis, sautéed black mussels, fresh garlic cilantro, bacon crumbles, & sweet drop peppers. He said it was the best mussels he has had in years. That was followed by Braised Short Ribs served with a red wine blend reduction, grilled haricot verts, & whipped sweet potatoes. He got to enjoy his entree the next night too!! There was only one waiter on this particular Wednesday evening, and he seemed to be doing it all. Checking customers in, taking orders, bringing drinks, delivering meals. He was well-natured and efficient but probably could have used some help. We were so intrigued by the desserts that we saw being delivered to other tables, which we had no room for, that our current plan is to next time order a number of different apps and follow that up with dessert.
This was a special occasion dinner, and we all enjoyed our meals. The only negative, and the reason for 4 stars and not 5, is the lack of attention to detail. My husband asked for his appetizer salad to have the dressing on the side - it came dressed. My friend asked for her lamb chops to have the glaze on the side, and she ordered a half rack; she got a full rack, glazed. On the good side her meal was replaced quickly. also, I had mentioned before she arrived that it was her birthday, and the restaurant brought a creme brûlée with a candle in it at the end of the meal. So yes, I will go there again. But I would prefer that a server write down the order than try to memorize it and make errors.
The food was terrific, and our server Katya was very professional. When we walked into La Cochina, a departing diner confided “you are in for a treat!”, and he was right!
We love going to LaCocina because the food is ALWAYS wonderful and beautifully presented.
We especially like the off-season when the tourists are at a minimum so we can enjoy our favorite places.
We really enjoyed our experience. Smallish, intimate restaurant - a little bit old school - casually elegant with attentive wait staff. Good wine. I requested a substitution and it was done with no fan fare. The foods was very good. We will definitely be going back.
