About La Cita
"La Cita" the meaning for "a date" is exactly who we are! We are a great place to enjoy great food, family and friends. Our traditional delights are made from scratch including our pastries. If you have never tried our "Molcajetes" which are served on a hot lava rock with chicken, shrimp and steak with our housemade chipotle, or our Plato Placero which is served with chorizo, spiced pork, chicken and salted beef, you are missing something special! We are a BYOB establishment, so feel free to bring your favorite bottle! Come meet our family and enjoy our tradition!

La Cita Ratings and Reviews
Consistently good food prepared in more traditional ways of the family that runs this restaurant. Don't expect everything to be smothered in cheese, it's not chain. As cold weather approaches, try their soup of the day - they do a great job offering items not typically seen on menus and often don't use cream and otherwise keep them healthy. They are consistently tasty and worth a try.
We were in Camden County on an errand and wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant. This was excellent with a wide range of menu options and wonderfully prepared food. Portions were large enough to take home a lunch for another day. BYOB made it very economical.
Food was just okay. Small restaurant with not very many tables. Overall appearance was casual I had a burito-carsada which was very bland. It was served with a little pile of shredded lettuce & diced tomstoes w/ a small dollop of quacamole that was also very bland. Very disappointed after reading the reviews which averaged 4.8. Wouldn't recommend to anyone whose ever had real authentic Mexican.
This is our second time to La Cita and both times we've loved it. From the outside, it might not be much to look at, but don't let that you dissuade, since inside it's nice and the food is great. I've been to most of the Mexican restaurants in the area (and Mexican food is one of my favorites) and this place is the best of them. It's not your typical 'tex-mex' style (though you'll still find familiar options if that's the only Mexican food you know), but rather the food is much more authentic and made with fresh ingredients - and the taste is amazing.
We have been to La Cita multiple times. The first time there, I tried the Fiesta Mexicana and loved it so much that I have never ordered anything else. My companion has ordered something different each time and, while she preferred some over others, she did like them all. The complimentary chips are among the best I've ever had, but I recommend sticking to the outstanding tomatillo salsa that they provide. The other, a pinkish-orange salsa, is like liquid fire, most suitable for those who would enjoy munching on fresh habanero peppers.
It is small; though they will take walk-ins, a recommendation is highly recommended. It is also BYOB. You can bring your beer or wine and, if you bring tequila, they will provide (for a fee) the mixer to make your own margaritas.
In the past year, we have ben to four different Mexican restaurants, one of which was good, but is out of business. Of the other three, the food here is not only very good, but also the most consistently good. I wish I could say the same of the other two.
Service is the perfect blend of attentiveness, but not overbearing. They always have made me feel as though, more than anything, they are there to make sure our experience is outstanding.
We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. This IS the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. Very unique and different and enjoyable. The Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. Try the specials as well as the menu items. The Aztec Molcajetes (I hope I got that right) will keep you coming back to try something else. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do ....
This is a "real" Mexican restaurant that has the moxy not to smother everything in cheese and to offer options prepared in the style that the family would have in Mexico. This doesn't mean gourmet, but it does mean Mexican food with tastes different than the run-of-the-mill chain restaurants. It is a small place with free parking along side it. They make terrific soups which are quite enjoyable during cold winter days.
We come here when we want good Mexican food with no pretensions or hype. Okay, lets be honest - we come for the Tacos Al Pastor, which are amazing, but everything else we've tried has impressed us with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. Last night the special empanadas queso were simple but delicious. There is nothing fancy about this place - service is hit or miss, decor is ho hum - but the lack of frills and polish are forgiven once you start tasking what the kitchen turns out. They also have the best flan in all of South Jersey.
I really wanted to like LaCita. We tried a variety of dishes. Liked the especiale (cheese empanadas) but disappointed in the Chile's rellanos (a favorite Mexican dish of ours). Very bland. Also...Our server asked us to stand up and move our table 2 feet over while we were eating so to move another table in next to us. And when we asked for hard shells for our fahitas our waitress rolled her eyes and said it may take "a while" then a minute later brought us a plate of of hard shelled tortillas but you couldn't open them to fill them because they were too hard. We laughed about it but unfortunately won't be back. And know I try to find the silver lining in things... Not this time. Sorry LaCita.
I drive past this place daily and had never been. I only heard good things. I met a friend. there. The service was a bit slow at points (probably partially my friend's fault for taking awhile to decide) but they were very friendly. The food was very good and authentic. I plan to return
