The food and service were both excellent. we loved the La Cita appetizer sampler and las flautas with chicken. We were there to celebrate my son's birthday. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. For sure, we'll be back.
Great for New Year’s Eve! Only wish that we could have ordered from everyday menu too. Delicious food.
Nice neighborhood place. Authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. BYOB.
Consistently good food from a non-chain, real Mexican family. If you want cheese with some food under it, this isn’t your spot. If you want Mexican food, try this place! We have eaten here for over 4 years and highly-recommend LaCita.
Nice local place. Good food, reasonable prices. BYOB, but they have limes for your corona! Small, so probably warrants a reservation. We will definitely return.
Reservation was pointless since we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table BUT the wait was SO WORTH it!! The food was amazing and we’ll be back for sure! Authentic Mexican at reasonable prices!
Always good. Creative dishes, perfectly prepared food. The '5 tacos' are great, like street tacos. The molcajete and the shrimp burrito are outstanding. Nice people, great food.
Consistently fabulous food! The servers are always accommodating and pleasant. Their tacos and enchiladas hit the spot... But there is so much more to their menu! When the Bronzino is on the menu, it's a must try and there are some incredible pork options! This is such a great family owned restaurant!
First time!! It was wonderful! We will return!
Always excellent in every way! One of our favorite spots and we go out of our way to go there!
Despite its small size, La Cita serves great Mexican food!!
Excellent as always! Amazing, authentic food. A great neighborhood restaurant.
Food is good ! Solid authentic Mexican ... love the mole and the mocajete was so so good and savory !
My meal was not good this time, previous time were better. My tamal was dry and hard as if it was old, the meat platter was cold. Very disappointed.
Big disappointment for an OpenTable restaurant that was well-rated. I guess this is like when people rate McDonald's and Burger King as their favorite place to get a burger or Dominos or Papa Johns as their favorite local pizza shop. People like Mexican food and this BYOB suits their needs.
My table was clean, but was wet and smelled of bleach when they sat me.
Service (after the normal dinner hour when they were still busy) was slow. No approached for a beverage for awhile after being seated. When I ordered it, it didn't come and I had to remind the waitress who was apologetic. Food also took what I thought was a long time, considering I was dining alone and ordered one entrée.
Biggest negative was that this had a big group of people sitting in the middle at a long table that were loud and obnoxious and I don't believe anyone said anything to them. I believe that others at 2 and 4-tops were annoyed at the antics and how they couldn't hold a conversation at their table because of this loud group of adults and children.
Was hoping this might be a new "go to" Mexican place, but, instead, a place that I won't return.
Age range in our group was 16-72. We all enjoyed our dinner get together.
Tortilla soup was amazing! Everything was perfect and delicious. This is the norm for this place.
La Cita, as always, was marvelous! Food is exceptional!
We have been to La Cita a number of times, and it never disappoints. Although it has been awhile since we were last in, that is only because we think of going often as we are driving by - and it's obvious the parking lot and restaurant look full. We remembered OpenTable and made a reservation and BAM! it was just a great as we remembered, and the place really does get full quicly. For a small cafe, they turn out authentic and delicious Mexican food quickly and it is plated nicely. Service could not be better - from clearing empty plates, refilling water glasses and checking to see you are happy - it was a great experience all the way around. Of note: I tried the soup special, Lamb, not knowing what to expect. It was a light red base, slightly spicy, with ground lamb and chickpeas (or garbanzo beans if you prefer) in the broth. Flavorful and left me wanting more!
La Cita is frankly one of the best restaurants period. the food is so good. I have yet to find something on the menu i don't like. AMAZING
always a reliable favorite of our friends and family. A hidden gem
I've previously given La Cita a great review, and I continue to come here fairly often, but one thing that I don't like about La Cita is the inconsistency in what's included. For example, the complementary chips and salsa are always a gamble; sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't; some tables get them, some tables won't. Or another example: with the steak entrees, sometimes it includes a jalapeno pepper, more often not (though the menu lists it in the description).
The food is great, so it keeps me coming back, but hopefully they can be more consistent.
La Cita was great; we would go again. The food was amazing.
Excellent food and reasonable priced for lunch!
First time going to this very authentic BYOB restaurant. My spouse ordered the 5 tacos and shared one with me. I am a fan of tacos de lengua and it was prepared great here. Also tried cactus salad seasoned perfectly. I ordered the soaps de marcosios, a seafood soup. It was loaded with seafood and very tasty. I would recommend this little gem but only if you want the real deal; it’s not a Mexican fast food joint.
Great meal and wonderful service! We will be back!
Good delicious! Wait staff friendly and just an overall cool place! The Slow Roasted Yucatán Pork and the La Cita combo app were excellent this visit! Never change, La Cita....never change!!
Growing up in Southern California, and living in Texas for 3 years I believe I know my Mexican food. La Cita is the best Mexican I have had in both South Jersey, and Philadelphia. If you looking for authentic Mexican this is the place to go. My father-in-law lives in North Jersey, and says it's the best Mexican in New Jersey period. You must have their tamales, and their supreme nachos.
Excellent authentic food! Wonderful staff too! Good size portions. Would definitely recommend and will be back!
Great food, great service. Great value for this awesome BYOB.
Food was just OK, long wait & my daughter's meal came out 15 minutes after the family got served. In all fairness it looked like they were short staffed. Not my favorite for Mexican cuisine.
love la cita! Dine there often. The staff an food always good. Small quaint surroundings with authentic delicious food.
I have been here a couple times before and liked it from my previous experiences. It is a BYO, food always decent. I made a later reservation to let them know someone was coming. There were two tables when we arrived. One left shortly after we ordered. Someone else came in and ordered after us but got his food first and was out the door soon after we just started eating. I would say the food took about 35-40 to arrive. We even had to ask about it because they checked a few times if we were okay but no mention of why the food was taking so long. The place was no busy so unsure why it took so long. Neither of us were in love with the food. No issues with the food. Tasted good but didn't seem like it was their best showing. I potentially return but next time someone asks me where to go for Mexican, I will mention La Cita but will mention my experience. I do like this place, just didn't have a good experience this time around.
Super authentic and very good, prices are very cheap for the quality of food!
The food was not as good as usual, however, the service was non existent and food very slow to come out. Our waitress had to be flagged down and asked for everything. Not sure we’ll return.
Amazing authentic Mexican. Everything was delicious!!
Great food that is well prepared and not swamped in cheese or canned salsa. They seem to cook as if in Mexico. Definitely worth a try. Guacamole is good.
Service was very slow despite having a reservation. Not friendly. Our appetizer was good. But it was nearly an hour later before our dinner came and our kids were starving. We tried to get their attention Several times to ask if they could at least bring the kids food out because it was fairly simple – nachos and quesadilla. But they would not make eye contact with us and didn’t stop by that entire time. When our food finally came, it was incredibly bland and some of it was overcooked. They never stopped back to check on us. We will most certainly not be returning – especially with so many other Mexican restaurants in the area.
Food is always delicious!
This is a rare non-chain, family owned Mexican BYOB that serves food in the style they are in Mexico and not smothered in cheap cheese as other alternatives. It is small and service can be slow, but if you are not rushed for time we recommend you try LaCita. Great value for the money and the special daily menu additions this year have been consistently delicious.
