My family of 2 adults and 2 kids, took Grandma there for Easter brunch. Very pleasant place with very good European gourmet comfort food. My daughter and son shared the alsatian french toast (looked like a thick crepe) which had berries inside, and drizzled with nutella on top. The kids also shared a side of bacon. The adults had various "tarte flambe" which is like a gourmet pizza. Dad had the ham + eggs + swiss breakfast pizza. Mom had camembert, mushroom and bacon pizza. Grandma had grilled chicken with zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes with basil and rosemary pizza. All grown-ups swapped slices of their pizza for variety. All were wonderful and fragrant. The virgin mary had bacon, olives and cucumber slices stuck inside and just the right amount of spice. There is a cosy fireplace and outdoor space as well. Round windows give it a nautical feel. Bathroom painted a bright green -- cheerful. Comfy chairs, rustic table.

Really enjoy dining at La Cigogne whenever we go. We go primarily for brunch with our kids but it's great for dinner as well.

Cozy by the fire. Attentive staff but never rushed.
Not too quiet or too loud. Don’t have to scream to talk and table spacing doesn’t make you feel that you are dining with the people next to you.
Food is very good and fairly priced.
I’ll be back.

My GF and I have added this place to our rotation of nabe restos that we frequent often. I lived in France for 2 years and I can tell you they do a great job on the French/Alsatian classics. Try the french onion soup. Maybe the best I've ever had. We love the fireplace. Our waiter was part French and he knew the wines like a sommelier. I only gave 4 stars for ambiance because of the large screen TV over the bar. Pet peeve of ours, as we prefer to avoid all screens when eating, BUT I realize that this would NOT bother most. Having said that, it's a very nice bar. We can't wait to go during the warm months when you can sit on their terrace out front. The nabe is so lovely right there. If you like french food, I totally recommend this place.

La Cigogne is a welcoming Alsatian-style bistro with authentic tartes flambées and spaetzle specialties. It's a great place for a relaxed get together -- their staff won't rush you. La Cigogne's menu offerings are high quality, and the restaurant offers excellent value for your money. The open fire was welcoming in January, when we visited. In summer, the al fresco tables on La Cigogne's street-side deck are reported by our Brooklyn-based family members to be an excellent option.

The steak frites was tiny bit over cooked but still very tasty. The spätzle and the tarte flambee were absolutely delicious.

food tended to be under seasoned or over seasoned. nothing offensive, everything was just okay. maybe I was unlucky and they were understaffed (christmas day), but the service was all over the place - had to chase someone down for a drink, took a while to get an order in, made mistakes because of rushing (e.g. got same drink as before despite ordering something else), and food took ~20+ minutes to come out for both courses.

really wanted to like the place because the vibe was there - chatty atmosphere, cool vibe (especially with the fireplace), good layout, but the service + food left me too annoyed to have a good time. good beer / drink prices. the bar was busy so probably could be a more fun scene there.

Having recently spent a week in Alsace, I was delighted to hear of an Alsatian restaurant in my old Carroll Gardens neighborhood. The menu looked wonderful, but the food, service and ambiance was disappointing.

Cold uncomfortable metal seats and horrible acoustics- LOUD!- did not help. The 2 spatzle dishes were mediocre; salmon and French onion soup were good. Our order took a while to appear, after another table's order mistakenly came to us.

Part of the problem seemed to be that a new runner was in training.

I will try again mid-week when it's less busy.

Several items we wanted to order were not available. We were told the restaurant had run out of the items but we were not informed before choosing our selections. Noise level was high due to a family with several children who were running around the restaurant. Very disappointed with this dining experience. Had been here for lunch before and enjoyed it that is why we tried dinner. Doubt I will return.

The service was all over the place and the food took a very long time to come out. We ordered the scallops first and they were completely lackluster. We love scallops usually, but these were almost FLAVORLESS! The Nemrod spatzle was delicious - if you are patient enough to wait for it. Also, when we finished our drinks (while waiting for our food to come out) it was quite difficult to get our waiter's attention for a refill - and the restaurant wasn't even full! Disappointing and overpriced.

When you go to a French-Alsace restaurant and you are greeted by two French guys who work there you know you are in the right place. I ate here with my parents for brunch and it was excellent. There are a dozen or so egg options, plus healthier options like yogurt and fruits. Service was excellent from our Strasbourgh natice waiter. I’ll be definetly going back for dinner.

My fiance brunched at La Cigogne last Sunday and had a thoroughly pleasant experience! The restaurant front opens onto a raised deck that allows for alfresco dining, and there was enough sunlight to permit dining outside, which allowed for great people watching. The restaurant's menu is Alsatian, and deviates from the rote brunch options of eggs benny, kale salad and pancakes in favor of traditional French/Alps fare cooked extremely well. In a testament to the chef's skill, the scrambled eggs I ordered were some of the most pillowy soft, decadent and perfectly cooked I've had in recent memory. Interesting cocktail list, and the orange juice was fresh-squeezed. We would return!

The restaurant is this casual yet chic place. The ambiance is great although a little too dark, however the darkness can make one's dinner experience more energetic and lively. The service there is great and the waiters are extremely patient and helpful. This place is absolutely perfect for an anniversary or, like me, a night out with the girls. Plus for the foodies (like me) it seems like there is always something new to discover... all in all, "La Cigogne" is a must go.
