Wonderful food, service and ambience. Great find - we’ll be back!
We've been to La Cigale several times and it's always very good. It's a wonderful neighborhood spot.
Vancouver needs more spots like this! Reasonably priced, really good unpretentious french bistro fare. A simple casual room graced with friendly helpful service. If this place was within walking distance of my home, I wouldn't need a kitchen!
Delicious salmon on potato pancakes for brunch. Salmon tasted fresh and the potato pancakes were delicious.
It was absolutely wonderful.
Our first time in and the server was actually right! Everything did taste great!
Wonderful service great food! Can’t get any better
Our meal was perfect, from our server to the kitchen being mindful of allergies.
I've been to La Cigale several times for lunch and several for dinner. The food is authentic French bistro and very well executed. One of the things that distinguishes La Cigale from most restaurants is how quiet it is, which makes conversation (and dinner) so much more pleasant. Highly recommended for great food and service, and a lovely atmosphere.
Valentines dinner date night. Everything was delicious!!
Service was not great-slow . The server mixed up the order but also didn’t understand English well. Food was overpriced for the quality. We have noticed a change on our last 2 visits
Went in with a reserved booking for Dine Out. The portion for the set meals were just right and tasted good. One of the appetizers (cauliflower on baguette) was larger than expected and tasted nice. The onion soup was not salty at all so that was a good change. The dessert was nothing too special in terms of options but was not disappointed in terms of taste.
Really good food but the wait staff are pretty snobby and rude.
La Cigale always excel in the quality and taste of their dishes. We had the dine-out last year, and came back this year for the good food. We have been coming for other occasions, and always have an enjoyable meal and evening whenever we come.
Lovely food but waitress told us a few things ( we had requested) were not available like Soupe du Jour and Onion Tarte because of Dine-out Vancouver, which we thought odd. We assumed all would be prepared fresh each day.
i brought my family for a Sunday brunch. It took a long time before we got attended and order our lunch. The food take a long time to come. The food is good we all like it. Lunch service is slow for my liking.
One of the best French restaurants that I've been to for a large group of people. Their French Onion Soup was delicious despite a bit on the salty side. The Duck Confit was good and paired well with the cranberry sauce. However, the skin was soft and not crispy, which was disappointing. The sweetness of my Creme Brûlée was parfait! There were also times where we had difficulty communicating with our server. Nonetheless, it was a good experience. I would come back again.
Enjoyed great food during the Dine Out Vancouver event. Everyone’s meals were delicious.
Went out for Vancouver dine out menu. Very impressed with the Boeuf braisé. Service was slow which was ok with me. They mixed up our order with another table but they offered us a 20% discount to make it up.
We were there for Dine Out Vancouver 2018. The food had a home-made feeling to it, and it was good food. The service was pretty good even when the place was fairly full.
Excellent dinner with friends. French onion soup yes. Roasted cauliflower on bread, cheesy good. Crispy skin on the duck confit, meat was fall off bone tender, good accompaniments. Braised beef, tender soft. Thick, milky crème brûlée. Blueberry crumble, sweet and fruity. French toast, moist light and fluffy. Friendly staff. French-speaking establishment. Would come again :)
Great portions. Relaxed ambience. Nice staff
We had a poor experience. We waited 40mins before the first drink arrived at the table. One of our group did not receive his starter until the main course. We could not get the attention of our waiter for long periods. I waited 30mins to get a wine list which I asked for twice. They seemed to be out of almost one quarter of the menu. The food was fine, very basic stuff you could easily make at home. I liked this place a few years ago, seems it has gone downhill.
We are regulars here. And shall return. The waitress this evening was a little confused, but it was a lovely evening.
I made reservations thinking it would be busy but it wasn’t too bad. We got to sit anywhere that was empty. The restaurant was relatively half full. Our waitress was very sweet and I believe spoke French. The ambience was very nice, not too loud even though there was a large party there. We ordered the escargot and the waitress asked if we wanted to add half an order of bread for the sauce and we did. The sauce for the escargot was amazing! For entree we ordered duck and beef cheeks. They were very flavourful. Would definitely come back again to try the other items on the menu.
The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The quality and quantity of food was great for the price and the service was excellent.
Pleasantly surprised by food quality and service at this unassuming place.
Delicious French food. The French onion soup is thick with a lot of onion, bread and cheese on the top. The soup is not salty compared to the onion soups I had in other restaurants.
Foie de Volaille et Champignon is tasty, and it is good to eat with red wine.
Enjoy more on the food than the services. The waitress is friendly.
Limited menu, 7pm reservation, not busy, but sold out of 2 of the 5 items on the menu disappointing.
Service was very good, food we had was very good, but we ended up ordering other than what we had planned.
Escargot is great. Tasty seafood linguini , beets salad is inspiring and great portion, chocolate mouse is smooth and not too sweet. Enjoyed it everytime.
Lovely neighbourhood restaurant for a quiet dinner out. My mussels and fries were delicious and my husband's seafood pasta was equally well done. Meals were nicely presented and wait staff were pleasant and prompt.
Great service, a real gem! Food came out pretty quickly. There were a number of great specials to order from.
As usual, we had great food and service with authenticity and quality! Can’t wait to return.
We came in for a Sunday brunch.
We arrived early and there were only two other tables at the time, service was friendly and attentive. Only 1 guy in the kitchen at the time, and we were told it may take a bit longer to get the food.
Food was delicious when it did arrive, and portion was ample.
We had a fantastic brunch, the service was great and the food was delicious.
Food was great
There were flies in the restaurant & they landed on the food.
The bread was not warm and it was burnt
My friend and I had a very nice meal together at La Cigale. I had Moules Frites and she had tomato soup and onion tarte.
Our food was relatively simple but tasty and filling. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a casual atmosphere. It was a nice place for two friends to catch up over classic food and a glass of wine.
This is a wonderful traditional French bistro with an excellent chef so we never tire of going there. Always superb for a reasonable price given the quality.
Three of us went here for lunch. We shared the Onion Tart which we all fought over after the first bite. We ordered amd shared the burger, the croque monsieur and the la cigale sandwich. The burger was hands down our favorite but the other two sandwiches were both superb. The fries were good but none of us cated for the aioli. Our server was very sweet and efficient. Would come back again and again! Don't miss out.
The one server was not adequate for the approximate 20 patrons, as she also did the bussing, drinks, and payments.
She was very nice and good at her job, but it caused everything to be slow. We would not return.
Spectacular!!
Excellent food, attentive and friendly service. The filet mignon and bone marrow were great, but we particularly relished the ginger-and-carrot soup. The French waiter (from Montpellier) added more authenticity to a French bistro!
