Our favorite Italian restaurant in SF
I can’t say enough about La Chiccia it’s the real deal very authentic.
Dinner at la Ciccia is always a treat, and this was no exception. The menu is unique and a welcome departure from the usual northern Italian fare. Wine list is ample and has good range of price and styles. Main complaint about this place is that is over-packed with tables. Our table of four sat right in front of the doorway and got a nice cold blast of air across our legs every time the door opened. I recommend the owners hold that sorry table in the doorway for walk-ins, and seat those with reservations at a decent table farther away from the door. Better yet, just do away with it entirely and create some space between the door and your diners. You can afford it.
La Ciccia provides unique dishes that are outstanding! These unusual Sardinian choices are excellent including the Sardinian wine!
Excellent food, ambience and amazing owners!
Service is fantastic.
One of the best restaurants in SF.
Loved this little restaurant. Felt like we were in Italy
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. Good (innovative) food, a good wine list, friendly staff, all in a relaxed, down-home environment. I hope to return soon.
Spicy octopus appetizer is perfection. The broth with Giant prawns is worthy of a repeat visit. Wait service is attentive without being intrusive. Wonderful quaint dinner spot.
What a wonderful meal through and through. Amazing authentic Italian fish driven Meńu with just enough options and a very vast wine menu that the staff is more than happy to help you navigate. Course by course better than the last !!! I can’t wait to go back and try what I missed
Corckag fee unreasonable way too high $35 per bottle , probably the highest in Bay Area
LaCiccia is ALWAYS special. Each time, I finish my delicious meal and prepare to leave this beautiful restaurant...I am already planning my next visit! Thank you, Lorella and Massimo...
It's hard to book a table here unless you're willing to eat late, like after 9PM. I finally got a table for myself and it was all worth it. The wine list is long and the food is delicious, just a bit pricey. The dishes I ordered, seafood stew of clams mussels shrimps calamari sea greens and baby octopus stew in a spicy tomato sauce were fabulous. I'll certainly go back and try to get a table for my family.
Came all the way down from Seattle to enjoy my birthday dinner at my favorite restaurant
We had a wonderful evening! Parking is challenging but we had allowed extra time to park, so no issues.
We were graciously welcomed and invited to wait for a more comfortable table or the one that was ready. The entire stars were so hospitable and friendly; very professional yet not stuffy.
We wanted to taste several dishes-extraordinary but simple salad with pickled onions, followed by a slightly spicy pasta with pork ragu. We then enjoyed a fabulous seafood stew with frefola pasta. We took half the pasta, chard and stew home to enjoy last night. We finished with a gorgeous baked sheeps milk ricotta dessert. Every course was excellent. We live a distance or would eat there frequently. We will go back. Highly recommended.
As always, La Ciccia doesn’t disappoint in terms of food or ambiance. A lovely place. Highly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic. Each dish was prepared exquisitely and the tastes were outstanding
Been on our to-do list for years and finally got a reservation.
This is a reservation I've been trying to get for months and months and it was well worth the wait. This was marvelous, a restaurant not to be missed if visiting SF and one to return to over and over again if lucky enough to live nearby. Fantastic menu, great wine list, ambiance like an Upper East Side gem, perfect service.
I have lived in San Francisco, off and on, since 1962. I have seen wonderful restaurants come and go, sometimes by economic forces, sometimes by complex or simple failure, sometimes by being so flattered by reviews they became careless about which they once did best.
But La Ciccia, where my Italian wife and I first dined over ten years ago when they first opened, has maintained its own rigorous work ethic, its knowledgeable wait staff, its thoughtful calm and personal warmth, its devotion to providing diners with beautiful, almost magical, yet nourishing meals.
Lorella Degan and Massimo Conti continue to provide us with wonderful, thoughtful, Sardinian delights and Italian wines.
La Ciccia is a treat each of us should have at least once in our lifetimes. I am lucky enough to live nearby and dine there often.
Simply perfect. Thank you very much for the wonderful night.
Always great food!! The hostess/manger was amazing, she took good care of us, especially the entree descriptions.
La Ciccia never disappoints...
Lorella and Massimiliano continue their 10+ years of sublime excellence. The reputation for culinary expertise and flair is well-deserved. ALWAYS my guilty pleasure is the baby octopus in spicy tomato sauce - tastebud ecstasy! The special of fresh fettuccine simply prepared in a parmesan sauce and topped with black truffle shavings was a delight. And the Capichera 2015 Vermentino Isola di Nuraghiwas a dream. Super wine list.
Favorite Italian / Sardinian food in the Bay Area!
Lorella & Massimiliano Conti are an AMAZING husband-wife duo! Food was delicious! Truly appreciate that the Chef/owner makes the time to personally come and check-in on every table. Love La Ciccia! Will definitely recommend to everyone I know! Thank you for a wonderful & authentic Sardinian experience!
Had a great experience. Was my second time dining here. Wound up sitting at the bar and Everything was exceptional. Really enjoyed all of the interaction with Massimo and Lorella throughout the meal. Will return again. Thanks for such great hospitality.
A very welcoming hostess, knowledgable server, and every dish was excuted to perfection. Pastas are simple which really showcase the craftsmanship. We felt like guests in a friends home having dinner.
Just a jewel in the neighborhood, will always treasure my dinner there!
Great food and great service. Tight space but not uncomfortably so. Would recommend and plan on going back again!
Delicious, delicious! It’s hard to get a reservation for good reason. It’s reliably delicious- fit for foodies- every time. It gets loud in this tiny place. Most people are dressed casually. Wine list is insane. Every dish we had was perfection. It’s a neighborhood gem. Will go back and highly recommend.
Wonderful. Birthday meal shared with friends and family. Best dishes -- grilled cuttlefish in garlic basil fish sauce, lamb tenderloin grilled in balsamic reduction sauce with leeks, home made Sardinian pasta with sea urchin, tomato cream sauce (no dairy), spaghetti with bottarga. Great wines selections and warm, knowledgeable server who let us enjoy our meal. Will go back soon.
Very good service. Loved the traditional Sardinian dishes on the menu. The waiter was very helpful with wine selection, which was all Italian and extensive. Baby octopus stew was fabulous.
Servers were attentive. Food was very authentic in quality, taste and presentations. Only thing I would appreciate was for them to let us know there would be an extra charge on the olive oil when we asked for some for dipping the bread.
The sea urchin pasta and squid ink pasta are amazing!
This is one of my favorite places in San Francisco, and I always try to bring my visitors here so they can enjoy some of the best food the city has to offer. From the menu to the daily specials you won't be disappointed by anything. Service is also one of the best in town.
Deuxième expérience à la Ciccia. Toujours aussi mémorable. Service impeccable, recommandations justes pour le vin et les plats. Repas mémorable.
Wonderful food, wonderful service, warm welcome!
Great dinner!!
Recommended by my barber, who is Italian. Small meighborhood restaurant with good spirit, good food and good all around vibe.
