Overall very nice experience. Food is very good, but could use a bit of updating and lightening.
A fantastic kitchen! Please have the Quenelles in Lobster Sauce! Perfect. Haute cuisine without the pretension, just a fabulous experience.
Always one of the best there is in DC. Never disappoints and could eat there every night. A true classic.
Everything was exceptional as usual. I have been a customer since the late 70’s and have always marveled at the quality and consistency. Clearly dollar for dollar the finest traditional French restaurants in DC.
We thoroughly enjoyed every dinner. Food and service are excellent. Looking forward to returning soon. Allen
A true Georgetown Gem...yes, that Is overused but it sums up this authentic Country French restaurant.
Another exceptional visit to La Chaumière! Enjoyed a perfect fall afternoon lunch on their patio. We ordered and shared oysters, scallops, crab cakes, and a bottle of Sancerre. Great service, and we ended the meal with their fabulous Tarte aux Pommes. Can’t wait to return.
This is our favorite restaurant and almost always enjoy a nice meal here!!!
Food was outstanding. The dover sole and beef medallions were the best we have ever had
My only disappointment was I did not realize the soufflé took 30 minutes and wish our server had told us when we ordered. In its place we had the apple tart which I actually thought was excellent
We went for a birthday and told our server however there was no acknowledgement
We will go there again
The food -- from the proverbial soup to nuts -- was outstanding. As was the service. What distinguishes a great restaurant from a merely good one are the incidentals -- bread, accompaniments to entrees such as vegetables, potatoes and so on. La Chaumiere qualifies as an example of the former. Highly, highly recommended!
Very happpy with the service, food was authetic and amazing.
The setting in the patio with white tablecloths was perfect. The food was as delicious.
Always a favorite!!
Food and service were excellent! My fiancé and I felt like we were back in France, where we first started dating!
Wonderful restaurant. I wish we could go there more often!
I love this place...the food is excellent—you get what you would want and expect from a French restaurant. A perfect gem in Georgetown.
Lovely restaurant. I’ve dined here since the restaurant opened. The food, service, attention to detail has been consistent throughout the years. The owners are contentious about the virus threat.

Passing through from Westchester to Florida , we stayed in DC over nite and had a wonderful dinner at La Chaumiere. The Dover sole was beautifully presented and the pipping hot Grande Mariner soufflé was a delicious ending to a special meal ‼️🍷
Excellent evening with great food and service for a birthday celebration. Thank you!
It was superb--one of the best meals I have had in a long time. the outdoor dining area and set up was very nice. I felt like I was in a nice restaurant and not just a table on the sidewalk. the service was wonderful--there when I needed them, but not hovering. Everything about la Chaumiere has always been wonderful, , but their performance during the pandemic truly outstanding
Great anniversary dinner. We enjoyed every aspect of our dinner and it was our first time dining here. We will definitely be back.
Great service, ambiance, relaxing environment, and you are made to feel very taken care of. My server had wonderful recommendations. I would visit again and recommend to anyone.
Classic, well-prepared French cuisine, featuring stalwarts like escargots, ris de veal, quenelles de Nantua and soufflés for dessert. Very drinkable wines by the glass. Thanks to CoVid, we chose to eat outdoors, and were well taken care of by the attentive staff. Portions are correct, satisfying but not excessive. Well-prepared scallops, perfectly cooked rosy duck breast, tender veal Normandy. No fireworks, just delicious, nicely prepared food— a rarity these days, and so comforting.
Fabulous meal, beautiful Provençal decor.
Fantastic evening with my wife!
This restaurant provided an excellent romantic experience for our 9th year anniversary. The food, service and ambience was excellent.
My wife & I went to La Chaumiere on a weekend get away trip with our daughter. It was an absolutely amazing evening from the moment we walked in until the moment we left! The staff and atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is to die for!.prices are also very reasonable an absolutely perfect combination for a fabulous evening! We are planning to go back with both our son and daughter very soon cannot wait!!!
Great place for a cozy dinner. Also, great for a first date🙂
It is always an extremely pleasant experience
We were seeking a culinary respite during a stop-over in D.C. on our way home from the beach. Since Europe isn't welcoming Americans anytime soon, we chose this bistro as a way to pretend we were back in Paris. My husband had the duck with currants (prepared perfectly), and I had the Cocquilles St. Jacques (with tomatoes for the first time). The meals were wonderful, and the service was attentive. We're never disappointed when dining here!
We had an exceptional meal here and a great experience. The lobster bisque was superb, probably the best I have ever had. The lamb chops were tender and delicious as was the beef. The cassoulet was also very good. We had a bunch of appetizers and an even something nice from the chef who came out to say hello. The soufflé was amazing and the apple tart was so flavorful, it reminded us that fall was finally here. They were doing everything to assure our safety and comfort. I highly recommend this cozy French restaurant and will definitely be back.
We go 3-4 times a year thinking to increase the frequency, the Michelin 1 star rating has changed nothing - not snooty or otherwise unreasonable expensive. We love the sweet breds and calves liver, don't forget the souflee Yum! Dinner for we two with bottle of wine & tip was $180. Not bad for a 'fancy night out.' Parking on the street is easy enough and a digestive Georgetown walk after refreshing.
We had an outside table on M Street on a beautiful night. Our main course was the soft shell crab special, which was superb.
We loved our experience from beginning to end. La Chaumiere is amazing in that the ambiance and food feels like a homemade dish but it is presented so elegantly that it is also fine dining at the same time. Highly recommend!
Always superior food. Unassuming, but interesting atmosphere. Good service
Saturday evening dinning outside, service and food wonderful and felt appreciated by the staff!
Absolutely delightful and a wonderful experience. I will be back.
We were there for restaurant week. Decided on this place because of the menu and when we arrived and were ordering were advised they had run out of the two things we wanted to get for appetizer and dessert. Was very disappointed as for we decided on this place because of those menu options. Soft shell crab entree was very good and light. Veal entree had good flavor and peas were a nice tough.
The chef is turning out the finest dishes and the robust menu made everything feel elegant and normal for an evening.
What a lovely restaurant! I just chose them because they were one of the few places on the August Restaurant Week lineup with an open table on Saturday night. I was delighted.
The food was delicious and the waiters were all French. And they treated us with that polite disdain that French waiters are famous for. It was the easiest and cheapest trip to France that we have ever taken.
