Top 30 restaurant. And I’ve been everywhere.
This is our favorite French restaurant in the United States. Authentic, delicious, and inviting. We make a special effort to come to here whenever we are in the area.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend for business dinner or any type of dinner. Very low noise level and it is nice hear other people and speak without yelling.
Great food but quite rich and filling. Ambiance and service is excellent.
Very good classic old school French restaurant. Polite and attentive service, chatty neighbors, a very nice evening.
Fabulous — our go to place for birthdays and to take guests. Would have been nice to have a little candle or something for the birthday girl, though. Merci! ❤️
Never disappoints ! Our go to place with guests from out of town! Love the wine list, food and service !
Great meal pre theater. Great service. Soufflé deliciousness
Really delicious food.
Food and service were excellent, manager and owner never talked you or checked after the initial hello from entry. Never interact/touched ANY table during our dining experience observation. Tables are small giving a cramped feeling.
Warm and welcoming and delicious French fare!
La Chaumiere always comes through on the best food and service! It continues to be an enjoyable experience whether having a business meeting or catching up with friends. Very few come close to them!
I have been a visitor at this restaurant sine the late 1970s. It keeps getting better.
My thanks to all involved.
From top to bottom — everything was outstanding!
My favorite place!
Great restaurant. Food was amazing. Henri our waiter was awesome. Wine he recommended was so good and went well with food. Now one of our favorite places.
Best restaurant in DC. Period. Quality of cooking is fantastic and old school service pitch perfect.
The food was very good as was the service but the tables were so close together and the space was so cramped. We were seated where everyone who passed by us hit our chairs throughout the entire meal which was extremely annoying.
We never miss out on the chance to eat at La Chaumiere when in Washington. You must try the cheese soufflé appetizer, sliced duck breast, Grand Marnier soufflé dessert. So many great country French dishes to choose, in a beautiful environment that takes you out of urban Georgetown to a house in the French countryside. Yum!
The food was delicious and the service outstanding The waiter offered suggestions for food and wine
just ok. Not great Not bad
We go to La Chaumiere every time we are in Georgetown, we have been doing this for more than 15 years, and it has never disappointed. The food is perfectly cooked, with specials of the day as nice surprises, the staff is knowledgeable , the wine list perfectly chosen and the owners are great hosts. We simply hope that it will continue to deliver the same quality for many years to come.
Always a great meal with excellent attentive service—even on a busy Friday night on Georgetown and GW graduation weekend. My friend and I were not part of these celebrations but we’re not bothered by the happy graduates and their families.
The soft shelled crabs are the best in town and the veal chop was perfect.
Went because they had soft shell crabs as a special and they were delicious, meaty and tender. Had special appetizers as well and both were excellent, salmon rillettes and grilled octopus salad. As always, they had great wine choices by the glass and we enjoyed both a Sancerre and a French Pinot. The restaurant remains a great choice for a traditional French meal and one of the top choices in Georgetown.
This place is superior! Service at a very high standard and with a smile. Food is superlative. This was a repeat visit. Anytime I come to DC I will be back.
the restaurant was crowded we felt rushed and fairly ignored
La Chaumiere consistently provides an excellent meal, in a quiet, welcoming ambience. I took a friend for a birthday lunch and it was the perfect venue. We could talk and hear the other person, while enjoying a superb meal, wine, and soufflé. With many thanks to all.
We had a delightful birthday dinner here. The food was wonderful and the service was warm and professional without the overbearing "friendliness" that some restaurants insist on now. We would happily go back! Both the soufflee and the tarte qux pommes took a few extra minutes (which we were told beforehand) and were well worth it! Both of our entrees were fabulous.
La Chaumiere remains one of our favorite restaurants! The food, service and ambience are all outstanding.
Wouldn't have asked for less when I read the reviews on line. It was a very pleasant evening and very good food!!
Caveat, very impatient to take people in and out, you can feel the pressure to order and to be done there.
Food and service was excellent
I always enjoy La Chaumiere; everything is very good.
We had not been back to La Chaumiere in years. Very pleased to discover that it remains unchanged: delicious food, beautifully prepared and served by attentive professionals.
LaChaumiere continues to be rewarding experience with outstanding tradition as l smd updated French food, gracious European service and real sense of community on a French country restaurant.
Whilst my wife’s oysters followed by sole was perfectly fine the slab of pate I started with was pretty tasteless and was worthy of any general store purchase. The way it was served was pretty unrefined and if I’d been served it up in France it would have gone straight back to the kitchen. If you’re going to serve French food at least make it a passing imitation of it.
My fricasee was ok but again, the presentation left much to be desired.
The service was fairly humourless as well and the food came so quickly - never a good sign as it means much of it is precooked - we were in and out in an hour.
Service was poor, food mediocre. Lobster bisque had no lobster and was like a broth soup. Experience disappointing and expensive.
The food was sensational and the staff friendly and kind
Great food and great service. Everything works the way you want it to without any drama. The kind of place where you would want to be a regular.
Best French restaurant on the east coast.
The food and wine were outstanding and our waiter superb!
