La Chaumiere was wonderful. I had a hard time choosing an entre because there were so many delicious dishes to choose from. The service was great as well! I would definitely return.
The food amazing. The service recomandation great. Although the music could have been a little different everything was awesome. Thank you for a great time for our special occasion.
Great food,service, and atmosphere!
Exceptional as always! We'll keep coming back as we have for the past 30+ years.
A real treat!!
This restaurant deserves its high praise. Fine dining, romantic atmosphere, delicious food and exceptional service!
We were able to return to La Chaumiere after a long time away because of Covid-19, now that indoor dining is allowed again at 25% capacity, etc. It was a happy experience to be there. Starting with perfect cocktails, then to lovely oysters, Dover Sole and Rack of Lamb. It couldn't have been a better experience. We will return soon with continuing enthusiasm and appreciation for a delightful evening to partly make up for such a dark time.
I have been dining here for over 30 years. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious!! Traditional French food done beautifully.
Great service and outstanding authentic french food, will go back every time I’m in DC.
Amazing ng food and service.. as always
My favorite French restaurant in the DMV. Authentic, with a nice wine list, and a great carte. Everything seemed to be made at the restaurant, with the possible exception of the berry tart's dough.
Highly recommended are the apple pie, the veal scaloppini, and the trout.
Cozy and pleasant evening dinner. Veal and calf’s liver were done to perfection. Dessert soufflé was light and also done to perfection, definitely a great way to end your meal.
Cesar salad supreme!
Dover sole sublime!
Apple tart scrumptious!
The mussel appetizer in garlic butter was boring and the mussels themselves were microscopic. The venison was disappointing. Although correctly cooked medium rare, it was tough and coarse in taste. The sweet sauce accompanying it did not provide a sufficient counterpoint to create that “melt in your mouth” experience. The trout with almonds was overcooked.
Amazing food, service & ambience.
Truly: Creme de la Creme”!
Food was great, wine wonderful, service fantastic!
Very romantic well priced french restaurant. Food very good, but would like to return and try more of their options. Very good wine list and very fair prices.
The restaurant has gotten better and better, the new owner/chef is highly skilled and his preparations are fantastic. The best lobster bisque I have ever had, succulent chops and delicate and delicious salads. Just excellent!
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant! I've been dining at Le Chaumerie since I moved to Washington, DC in 1997. The restaurant always provides delicious meals, great service and a lovely ambience. We love this restaurant!
This little gem is an opportunity to savor real French cooking served traditionally. The fire place is a delight.
La Chaumiere never disappoints. We try to visit a few times a year, but you'll always find us there to celebrate our wedding anniversary each year. The staff is always very welcoming, service is top notch, and the food phenomenal. If you're in the neighborhood, a visit is always worthwhile.
Our entire experience was incredible. The atmosphere is authentic, warm and cozy. Peter our waiter and all of the staff were very warm, welcoming, and gracious. Every dish was outstanding, the flavors in preparation amazing. We definitely will return!
Martin and Paul and the entire staff know how to provide the best food and service, and have proven they can handle social distancing to make for a safe, enjoyable dining experience. Sad that the District of Columbia is closing restaurants Dec 24-Jan 15. DC should reward the ones like La Chaumiere that handle Covid protocols properly. This Georgetown institution does everything right.
We love LaChaumiere and the entire team, Martin, Peter, everyone!
Always perfect !!!
La Chaumeire has always been a favorite special occasion restaurant for us. This time celebrating a birthday. The service and experience was wonderful and the food was excellent. We sat near a nice fireplace which was very nice. We had rack of lamb, a scallop and shrimp dish and steak and all were cooked to perfection. The baked oysters app was wonderful - nice plump oysters in yummy spinach sauce. Very nice cocktails and wine selection. Also, amazing chocolate soufflé and apple tart made fresh to order. In all, a 5 star evening. Loved it - will definitely be coming back!
As always, perfect service (you cannot beat Martin anywhere else in DC!), the best food and ambiance that makes you feel like you are in France.
I dine there for dinner, but my first lunch at this Georgetown classic was excellent!
Will return often
With the extra spacing this favorite place is still the perfect cozy winter spot to enjoy a meal. We were by the fireplace, without anyone else close to us, and the service continues to be warm and polished, even behind a mask.
My lobster bisque was full of flavor and the smoked salmon continues to be my husband's favorite anywhere. Even though I am a chocoholic, I always pre-order the apple tart with ice cream and drizzled caramel -- the perfect dessert after delicious trout almondine!
Excellent place to enjoy a great menu with friends and family. I would strongly recommend. The size of dish is big, so you can easily share it. I would definetely come back for a great celebration
A wonderful way to experience French cuisine. One of my favorites
Outstanding - a must go!
Celebrating daughters bday
Service was excellent, food was incredible, and overall above-and-beyond experience!
Although the restaurant has been around for 45 years, this was our first visit. We loved the food and the experience and will definitely be going back!
The food is very tasty and service is good. The atmosphere is cozy.
One of the best meals we’ve had in years in DC. Made sure to eat outside due to pandemic.
Great Service and great food. Sweetbreads were fenomenal. The foie gras terrine great.
