La Cena Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
There are too many tables near the bar, and I had a hard time getting moved to a better one - even though the place wasn't very full at 6pm. Plus the hostess - younger than myself - referred to me as "honey." Our salad was served with a few flys buzzing around, and the menu selections were not overly appealing to my lady friend and myself. We agreed that the experience did not merit another Groupon purchase.
Great find! We went for our 10th anniversary and couldn't have found a more appropriate place. Food was very good, service like I have never had, ambience was cozy and romantic, there was a duo (herb smith and a woman singer) that were terrific. They played a set that went from right after we ordered until we paid the check. They play a smooth jazzy type but with hit songs from 50's through the 80's.
There was a all seats occupied bar with what I thing were regulars, because they all seemed to know each other. You can eat at the bar too, although there was no trouble getting a table. Can't wait to go back!
Seems like an old restaurant. The chicken parm was a bit tough. The bread on the table was nothing to write home about. All in all disappointing for sure. Price wasn't bad, but still felt like it was something from the 80's including the tray the dessert came out on.
La Cena was great! The food was delicious! The service was great and the people are very friendly. Steve, our waiter, could not have been better. And, Sean, the manager came around to make sure everything was great. The atmosphere was fun with a live band. We will definitely be back.
Great restaurant for a special date; I chose this restaurant for our anniversary and the staff and food did not disappoint me or my wife.
The staff are very professional and friendly without being obtrusive.
Great overall experience and local gem and will refer family and friends to it.
Had lunch here for a birthday. Wait staff was very accommodating and food was delicious. One of the special appetizers was oysters on the half shell, but the birthday girl wanted fried oysters instead (not on the menu). No problem! Chef whipped up a batch of fried oysters just for us! Our table also had the flounder special, Salmon Livornese and Veal Con Parciofi. All came with delicious mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. La Cena just may become our new spot to go for lunch!
We chose this place for a convenient location and came in Saturday night for a b-day celebration, I ordered Proseco they brought me a glass of flat Martini Asti (which was replaced after I complained). The food was mediocre at best, service was abysmal. We had about 3 drinks each, the glasses were never cleared from the table. Wait staff is very inexperienced and not very knowledgeable. Prices are not low for what they are serving. I do not recommend.
Restaurant was quite for an early Saturday Evening Dinner. We were the only diners (party of two) in the back room. Our dinner conversation was intermittently drowned out by staff conversations being held outside the kitchen in the prep/bus area. Only one exuberant "Holy F**king Sh*t" experienced but it was one too many. Manager walked through rear dining area but never engaged with the customers. When I went to the front to address this issue at the end of the meal, the manager meekly apologized and that was it. He did not state that he would address the situation. He never reviewed our check or offered us a coffee or dessert.
Too bad... Meal was good, but manager & loud/inappropriate staff conversation made this a "do not return" destination. CM
La Cena has been a local favorite for years. You can tell a good restaurant by the fact the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and appear to enjoy their job. Even some of the younger workers seem to stay and come back to work during their breaks from college. Food is always cooked to order and fresh.
We enjoyed our dinner at La Cena. I noticed how long it had been there and knew we would not be disappointed. We were warmly greeted and there was lovely live music. The food was very good our party of four really enjoyed it. I am a vegetarian. And there many options for me too. We will definately be back
i sent my boss here twice. bensalem, pa mostly has chains. She hates chains and this is not one. You feel like you're in Italy when you walk in...w the beautiful piano music and possibly a frank sinatra-ish live singer. they were very accommodating with her diet as well...she eats vegan and GF and they were kind enough to change a couple entrees and salads to give her options.
