The food was fantastic .... we had steak, shrimp, prime rib, halibut and lobster. The cheese toast is the best. Wonderful service. Friendly and attentive staff. We will definitely be going again.
Fabulous restaurant. Been going since the late 70's. Service impeccable..food delicious..can't wait to return.
Great Elvis act. Outstanding food quality. Weak drinks.
Have been going to La Cave for about 35 years and the wonderful thing about it is that the menu has remained the same and the quality of food cannot be beat. The chef's are OUTSTANDING. I like the original restaurant room better where the bar is because there are more booths, but still, I could not come up with enough proper words to explain what a treat it is to eat at La Cave! My favorite restaurant of all time - and I MEAN THAT!
Great steaks and seafood. Friendly service. My wife thought that her blackened halibut was the best ever! My petite filet was super tender and cooked to perfection. Love the garlic bread and the twice cooked potato. Lively indeed so be prepared to read lips if you are like me. We love this place!
Debbie was our server. She was fabulous attention to every detail. Food was delicious. Perfect evening!
Always a pleasure to dine at La Cave. The greeter is so pleasant and the food is excellent
Just married
La Cave is a classic restaurant with all of the classic menu items. The crab legs are amazing! The martinis are generous..
Old school local haunt - super fun
First time at La Cave, great old school vibe, great bar, great food excellent service. If I lived locally this might be a weekly gig for me, can't wait to go back
Been going to La Cave forever and it never disappoints. I recommend it to everyone.
Birthday celebration. The staff and hostess were bending over backwards to make sure we were treated very special in spite of the busy and large crowd. It was a little noisier than usual but tolerable. La Cave is a special place, wonderful food and service.
Excellent. Great throwback dining experience
Fun and romantic, but the food isn't great. We had the filet, the ribeye and the twice-baked potato, all of which are supposed to be the restaurants specialty. Don't go in expecting Mastros or Flemings and you should be fine.
The steak was tough and the lobster over cooked. The service was good and we like supporting local places.
Classic steakhouse. Fresh steak cuts and seafood entrée selections were showcased in a glass-covered cart, no menu.
Grew up in Newport and moved, whenever back in town wanted to get back in and this time I made it happen....., glad I did! An old established standby that never gets old. Service and attention is always there. Steak & seafood selections are always top notch. Nice small bar area where you can dine and watch sports or chit-chat. Be prepared, can get noisy, but in a good way. Check out entertainment listings.
Greeted warmly, seated promptly, service was professionally done, not rushed, not slow. Management seemed concerned about our experience. Very interesting atmosphere. We will definitely return frequently.
Celebrated Valentine’s Day early and had an amazing experience
Love this place. If you enjoy a great steak, soup or salad, and a twice cooked potato this is the place for you! Get a reservation; it gets busy. Wonderful cocktails! Lorrie was a wonderful server.
I forgot how good this place was. Best steak in a long long time. Glad we rediscovered it!
First time there and we will definitely be going back.
We got seated right away since we had made a reservation. We love to come there for special occasions. We love the 70’s style. Service is awesome and sometimes they have entertainment. Food is great and delicious.
Such a nice "old Newport" environment. We celebrated our wedding anniversary as did the couple next to us. Table #1 was perfect and our waitress Susan made the evening complete. And, oh, those yummy lobster tails! doesn't get any better!!
Food was amazing as always. Service was great.
Excellent meal.food and drinks
The steaks were excellent and a good value. It was very loud in the room we were sitting in.
This is our 5th time. Food is great. This time was a little different with 3-5 little kids running around. The parents must have thought we were at Chuck e Cheeses.
An old time favorite revisited, last time was many years ago. Came early, still was the same which we appreciated. Friendly place with nice attentive service and good food. The later dance scene is not for us, but is for many others. Get there early evening and enjoy the older time ambiance and retro feeling of a nice place still doing providing a good experience. We enjoyed it!
Old school steakhouse with leather booths. Steaks cooked to perfection. Excellent service.
One of the most authentic and unique restaurants in Newport Beach! Ambience and energy is fun for any date night to special occasion. Food is awesome!
My husbands birthday
Way over priced for what you get. Better ambiance elsewhere if you going to pay $$.
All was well. Good food. Good friends. Excellent service. Always fun to eat at la cave
This is our go - to steakhouse. It is in a cellar! Loads of old school charm, try the swimming in garlic butter mushrooms!
We have been going to La Cave for years. A hidden gem. Great for an intimate dinner or with a group of friends. Very cool ambiance in this underground location. Great service. Awesome cocktails and great food....grilled steaks and fish are the best! If you have not tried La Cave, you need to go!
Old school place. Food was very good. Loved my crab legs!! Steak was delicious. Friendly service. And super reasonable! We will be back!!
My wife and I and a friend dined (tried to dine) at La Cave last Saturday. The hostess / manager was very courteous and gave us a nice corner booth. I ordered a 10 oz Filet medium, and specifically asked if medium is warm pink center and the server confirmed that's how they serve it. My wife ordered halibut and our friend a shrimp cocktail. We got our cocktails, soup, salad and bread in a timely manner and were enjoying the evening. Our entrees took forever to arrive and when they finally came the waitress apologized and said she was tending to a large party of 10. The halibut and shrimp cocktail were fine, but my steak was well-done and the twice backed potato was totally dried out. I politely asked the waitress to get me another steak that was prepared to the correct medium temperature and she said no problem. I fully understand these kind of things can happen on a busy evening and didn't mind waiting a few minutes. Twenty five minutes later my replacement steak was still not delivered and my wife and friend had already completed their meals.
I told the manager to stop my order, since it doesn't take 25 minutes to cook a 10 oz filet to medium temperature. They did comp our cocktail, but needless to say, won't be back to La Cave for overpriced burnt steak.
Another great night at La Cave! We were lucky to stumble in on a Monday, when they have live music - there was a gentlemen singing Sinatra/Martin/Bennett classics who was quite good! (better than similar shows we have paid to see in Vegas!). Steaks and cocktails were excellent as usual.
