About La Cave - Wynn Las Vegas

Don't call it a wine bar. At least proprietor Michael Morton, of the famous Morton restaurant family, prefers not to describe his unique La Cave concept in such limited terms. With its tempting small plates menu, stylish surroundings and well rounded beer and spirits selection, La Cave is about more than simply good wine. This cozy Wynn hideaway is a wonderland of coved ceilings, wrought iron, polished woods and glass panels. Chef Bill DeMarco, a protégé of chef Charlie Palmer, crafts a beguiling menu of flatbreads, tapas-like small plates, grilled meats and platters of charcuterie and gourmet cheese - each meant to be a perfect pairing to one of La Cave's many wines. With its sexy and fun vibe, this cave devoted to vino-pleasures comes replete with an outdoor dining terrace overlooking landscaped gardens and pools. Morton sums it up best, "I want people to leave feeling as though they just went to the best dinner party. Great food, great wine, great music, great friends"

excellent ambiance - sat outside on patio with heat lamps - all by ourselves!
food was good, some plates better than others - cocktails were good.
server was friendly, but then she got busy and we were left unattended longer than we would have liked. priced reasonable.

We planned this dinner for before we were seeing the show Le Revé at the Wynn. We were seated on time and had a nice view from our patio table. Service was good as was the food. Small tapas style portions and plates We would go back again.

Really nice spot, we sat on the patio overlooking the pool / gardens. The service was very good, food was meh.... nothing memorable and quite underwhelming, more do for what it costs.

We have Eaten here perhaps 6 to 8 times over the last couple of years. And actually is my favorite place to eat at the Wynn. This visit, we had lunch there for the first time, as well as dinner — and lunch was a much more pleasant surprise experience than dinner because the light is so natural and pretty in the outer room. At night, it has gone from romantic to ridiculous , and literally no one can read the menu, It is so dark. “A little unclear on the concept,” no? Lighting by iPhone and some feeble candles. People don’t like to feel awkward and silly when they are at a beautiful restaurant.

The menu seems to have shrunk over the last couple of years, but there are still nice things to order. Their flatbread pizzas, basically, are still delicious. I had a chicken skewer –: a little too dry, but the dipping sauce was nice. My husband’s salmon was wonderful, he said, as was the roasted asparagus.

The only weak dish we ordered: the three bean salad, usually a favorite of ours. The green beans were great, the other beans were undercooked, which could just be a matter of taste – legitimate difference of opinion. But a good portion of the so-called grilled artichoke hearts were not artichoke hearts, they were thistle or some small, tough, unchewable leaf . I was afraid of choking, and started to put them to one side of my plate. I (uncharacteristicly) mentioned this to the waiter when he asked how things were; he insisted they were artichoke hearts (emphasis on the “choke,” I guess). I stopped eating everything but the green beans. Dangerous? A little too hearty, chef.

I wish they would switch up the desserts a little, too.

But having said that, I really love La Cave and wish there were one or two other quiet, pretty, small plate places like it at the Wynn or Encore.

Service was excellent! Food was marginal and definitely over priced. I’ve had better sushi at my local restaurant for half the price. Wine and sake were a joke. Atmosphere was very- very good and the only reason to ever go there.

What a great hidden gem. We rarely get over to the Wynn and this was a great surprise! Food was tasty, service from Amber was wonderful. Out only complaint was all the old people who had their cell phones out, lights on, trying to read the menu. The what was supposed to be dark patio was lit up like a Christmas tree. But you will love the food, the wine and the view.

Food was excellent, but service was regrettably horrible. It was the first visit for me and my mom. I bring to her to Vegas once a year, and this was our first time at Wynn. We enjoyed all the dishes (crab in lettuce cups, kale salad, shrimp, salmon, fettuccine). The server was unfortunately very slow and not very attentive at all. Our food came before she even came with water. And we wanted to add another dish, but she never came by again to check on us until we had finished our dishes. Then it took another half hour to wait for the additional dish to arrive. And another long time for her to come back with our check. The service pretty much ruined an otherwise good meal for me and my mom. Pretty upset.

This dining spot is very deceptive from the outside. It;s exterior/reception is too modern for its interior. Also, when you stroll by, you get a feeling that it's nothing more than a quite small wine salon. In truth, there is significant dining space, indoors, covered patio, and outdoor patio overlooking the lovely pool.
Service has always been efficient and friendly.
Food is unique small plates. We had the raw salmon tostada, beef carpacchio, and grilled shrimp with toasted garlic slivers. Each was very good.
My only suggestion to the restaurant would be to size the shared plates for the number of people. Serving 3 pieces for 2 people is a bit awkward. I would suggest pricing a single piece and allow diner to choose the serving size.

This was our third visit and would return.

Another great night with the usual great mix of good dishes. The staff did seem a little overworked and out of focus. The dishes were served counter intuitive - meat first, the salat, then flatbread- even though we ordered in a different order. Also there was some substantial waiting as well.

My wife and I are both vegan. They do have vegan menu but if you are staying at the Wynn, this is last on our list st of restaurants to go for vegan food. They have much better vegan food at the rest of their restaurants.

Visited with family for Thanksgiving dinner. We each ordered wine flights which we excellent and two entrees plus sides. I ordered the short ribs and the truffle grits which where delicious. My sister ordered the turkey special and mashed potatoes. The turkey was cold and she sent it back. It came back a second time cold. They graciously took it off her bill, but she was a bit disappointed,

We have dined here before and had great experience in the past. This time our disappointment resulted from where we were seated. I do not know why when a restaurant is practically empty that the service staff has to sit you at a table right next to someone else. The tables are small in the covered patio area; a table for two is so small you have to be sure to tell the server to only bring one item at a time because there is no room on the table for more than that. Our waitress was also part of the cause for the low score on this review. She did not listen to our order and the one item that my husband truly wanted she did not order; we received a different dish that was still excellent but the crab in lettuce wraps one one item my husband was looking forward to and by the time we asked her if it was coming we were basically done with our meal. We will probably go back again but we will be sure to not accept a table next to another couple when the restaurant is basically empty; It is like having to dine with a complete stranger; if I wanted to join them for dinner I would have requested a table for a party of 4.

We visited this fabulous restaurant on our last trip to Las Vegas. The atmosphere was out of this world we set up on the patio overlooking the pool in the Gardens, it was breathtaking. The food menu is simple yet very eclectic, the taste are out of this world. I highly recommend anyone of their flatbreads as well as the chickens skewers. The drink, wine and beer list is extensive and reasonably priced. I will definitely go back on my next trip to Las Vegas. I recommend 100%

Wow! Start with a wine flight. Mushrooms grits made with truffle oil, are a delight. Don't pass up the French onion soup with puff pastry crust or the flat bread with sirloin, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and blue cheese. Sit on the terrace overlooking the pool, day or night it's gorgeous with the Linq High Roller in the distance. One of our Las Vegas favs!

I love this place! We went with our boys, who are 4 and 7 and shared several small plates. We had mini burgers, flatbread, baby kale salad, wagu beef, and chicken skewers. It's great to get to sample several dishes rather than committing to one meal. Everything we had was fantastic. Service was good and we very much enjoyed it.

I was somewhat disappointed in this restaurant. The food is very expensive in comparison to the quality and portions you receive. I don’t mind paying good money for dinner but the food needs to be good and a decent portion size. The meals are very small and not very hearty. Great atmosphere with chic decor and in a good location but not a lot of bang for your buck unfortunately.

Quite and small plates. Great place to avoid the over-serving of other restaurants in Sin City, but not cheap. Would avoid wines--terribly over priced., I.e $78 glass of OpusOne--news flash, it's highly over rated. Service was friendly, if not always hitting on all cylinders. Would go again.

What a great venue and quality driven location. Not too often can you get a great meal and wine on the strip reasonably but everything was flawless. Only complaint would be that either the kitchen or the service fails to deliver food in a timely manner. Quite a long time from order to table.
